The data for this study was sourced through the use of structured question distributed to the selected deposit money banks in Yola Metropolis. A total of 193 questionnaires were distributed but 166 were successfully retrieved and analyzed. The study employed descriptive statistics, multiple regression technique in estimating the effects of human resource management practice on employee productivity in the selected organization, correlation coefficient was also used to test the extent to which human resource management relate to employee productivity. The study revealed that human resource planning (HRP), recruitment and selection (RS), staff training and development (TRD) and performance appraisal (PA) were positively affecting employee productivity in the selected deposit money banks in Nigeria and were rightly signed, implying that they were consistent with the theoretical expectation of this study. The F-statistics 5.242014, which measured the joint significance of the parameter estimates, was found statistically significant at 5 per cent level as indicated by the corresponding probability value of 0.025272. This implies that all the variables of the model were jointly and statistically significant in affecting employee productivity in the selected deposit money banks in Nigeria. Finally, this result revealed that human resource management practice was positively and significantly affecting employee productivity in the selected deposit money banks in Nigeria. The study concluded that human resource management practice affected employee productivity positively in selected deposit money banks in Nigeria. The study therefore, recommended that concerted effort need to be taken in the banking industries in Nigeria to improve their human resource practice in order to achieve the objective of increasing the productivity of their employees.","PeriodicalId":277639,"journal":{"name":"Saudi Journal of Business and Management Studies","volume":"75 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132759595","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The specific objectives of this research work include the following: to identify the number of SME formed by uneducated youths in Ezeagu LGA, to examine the roles of small and medium scale enterprises in youth empowerment in Enugu State. For a successful completion of this research work, the researcher made use of both primary and secondary methods of data collection for information gathering. The population of the study was 1308 while the sample size of 306 was gotten through Taro Yamene formula. The data collected were presented in tables and analyzed with simple percentage while the hypotheses stated were tested with chi square. The findings made includes: the roles of small and medium scale enterprises in youth empowerment in Enugu State are entrepreneurship promotion, provision of employment opportunities, mobilization of savings and financial resources for productive enterprise activitiesand equitable growth across regions and between men and women, the contributions of government in SME development are provision of infrastructural development, promotion of small and medium scale enterprises through its policies, provision of capital and loans to small and medium scale business owners andprovision of skill acquisition centers in diverse areas.In conclusion, capital formation has affected the role of small and medium scale enterprises in youth empowerment in Enugu State to a very great extent, the challenges militating against the efforts of small and medium scale enterprises in youth empowerment in Enugu State are financial problems, management problems, infrastructure problems and socio cultural problems. The researcher therefore recommends that government at all levels in Nigeria should be encouraged to float Microfinance institutions in order to enable SMEs access enough funds for their businesses. This will enable the poor in their areas to have access to credit without which our strive for financial inclusion and poverty eradication will not be realized, the central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) should hasten up its proposal to introduce financial literacy in school‟s curriculum. The ability of SMEs to keep appropriate and up to date records are what banks require for extension of their credits to individuals and groups.","PeriodicalId":277639,"journal":{"name":"Saudi Journal of Business and Management Studies","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133059319","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Data was collected from the Central Bank of Nigeria Statistical Bulletin from 1990 to 2017 and the study employed the Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) model and Error Correction Model (ECM) to address its objective. Consequently, the major findings that originated from the work could be submitted as follows. The result of ECM term confirmed that about 39% of the total disequilibrium in the previous year would be corrected in the current year. Therefore, it will take about two (2) years for the system to adjust back to its long run equilibrium path. Meanwhile, the estimated result shows that economic growth and government revenue have a significant positive relationship in Nigeria in the short run but the relationship becomes negative in the long run. However, recurrent expenditure has a significant negative relationship with economic growth in the short run but the relationship becomes insignificant in the long run. However, inflation rate has a significant positive relationship with economic growth in both short run and long run. Due to the findings that originated in this study, this paper makes the following recommendations for the policy makers in Nigeria that if the economic growth is the target of the policy makers, manipulating fiscal policy variables such as government revenue, capital expenditure and inflation rate appropriately will increase economic growth in the short run and the long run.","PeriodicalId":277639,"journal":{"name":"Saudi Journal of Business and Management Studies","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130205826","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Not like in other commercial contracts for the tangible products, the insured has no opportunity to examine the product prior to purchase. Accordingly, the customers get experience about the service provider after purchasing the product. At present, there are 28 insurance companies operating in Sri Lanka and out of which, fifteen companies offer the covers for the motor vehicle. Insurance companies make huge efforts to attract new customers and to retain the existing customers with them, as they experience switching the motor policy holders to competitors at the renewal due to many reasons. Accordingly, long term retention of motor policy holders by the insurers is a significant issue in the motor insurance industry in Sri Lanka. The problem of this study include “How the key determinants of service quality affect towards the customer satisfaction and whether there is effect of customer satisfaction on behavioral intention to retain with reference to motor insurance policy holders in insurance companies in Sri Lanka”. The population of this study were the motor insurance policy holders in the Western Province and the sample consisted with 125 motor policy holders selected through random sampling technique. Self-administered structured questionnaire was used to collect the primary data and the data was analyzed using Minitab software and the SPSS software packages to examine the customers‟ attitudes towards the existing situation of the service quality of the motor insurers and to examine the customer satisfaction and intention behavior to retain with existing company. It was found that, customers were neither disagree nor agree with the existing situation of the insurers. Further, it was found that, there was strong positive relationship between functional quality dimensions with customer satisfaction, except tangible and assurance dimension which are having moderate positive relationship between the variable. Further, it was found that price, technical quality and image dimensions also having moderately positive relationship with customer satisfaction.","PeriodicalId":277639,"journal":{"name":"Saudi Journal of Business and Management Studies","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122126386","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Consequently, the study utilized data from UNCTAD World Bank database and CBN Statistical Bulletin and error correction model was used to address the objective of this study. However, the following are the crucial findings that originated from this study. The following are the crucial findings that the study discovered. The error correction term indicates that about 22% of total disequilibrium due to external shock in the previous year is corrected in the current year. The principal driver of FDI inflows in Nigeria is growth rate of the economy. While, market size only caused an insignificant FDI inflow in the short run. Therefore, FDI inflow in Nigeria is not market seeking. Furthermore, based on these findings, this study makes the following recommendations for the policy makers in Nigeria. The policy makers should embark on holistic approach that has the capacity to expand the country`s market size and ensure a double-digit growth rate of the economy. In the same vein, the policy measures that would guarantee sustainability of the FDI inflows through market size and growth rate of economy in the long run should be put in place by the policy makers in Nigeria.","PeriodicalId":277639,"journal":{"name":"Saudi Journal of Business and Management Studies","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131488589","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
