We propose a generic approach to comparing noise time series using the largest deviations from consistent statistical behaviour. For this purpose we use a powerful framework based on wavelet decomposition, which allows filtering polynomial bias, while capturing the essential singular behaviour. In addition, we are able to reveal scale-wise ranking of singular events including their scale free characteristic: the Holder exponent. We use a set of such characteristics to design a compact representation of the time series suitable for direct comparison, e.g. evaluation of the correlation product. We demonstrate that the distance between such representations closely corresponds with the subjective feeling of similarity between the time series. In order to test the validity of subjective criteria, we test the records of currency exchanges, finding convincing levels of (local) correlation.","PeriodicalId":276867,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings. More complex electronic commerce applications, however, such as the online use of highly specialized computational packages and online cooperative design are not gaining market momentum yet. We attribute this to the lack of a common computational infrastructure specifically targeting the integration of heterogeneous information services that specifically address the requirements of evolving electronic commerce applications. We have built a computational infrastructure to address these issues and present a thorough account of the lessons learned from the design, the implementation, and the deployment of this infrastructure for several online applications.","PeriodicalId":276867,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings. We describe a distributed manufacturing system architecture (http://hms.ifw.uni-hannover.de/public/overview.html) to illustrate the merits of rescheduling. We also develop an action redistribution framework based upon resource cooling, i.e. migrating actions from the most utilised or faulty (hottest) agents' resources to the coldest (least constrained) ones. Furthermore, the paper discusses the costs versus benefits of resource cooling when rescheduling cascades over parallel resources executing a decentralised production task.","PeriodicalId":276867,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings. It also supports approximate query results by using query reformulation in case the result of the query does not exist. The UVRS divides video into video documents, sequences, scenes and objects, and involves the three layered object-oriented metadata model (TOMM) to model metadata. TOMM is composed of a raw-data layer for a physical video stream, a metadata layer to support annotation-based retrieval, feature-based retrieval, and similarity retrieval and a semantic layer to reform the query. Based on this model, we present a video query language which makes possible annotation-based queries, feature-based queries based on color, spatial, temporal and spatio-temporal correlation and similar queries, and consider a video query processor (VQP). For similarity queries on a given scene or object, we present a formula expressing the degree of similarity based on color, spatial, and temporal order. If there is no query result, then it will be carry out a query reformulation process which finds possible attributes to relax the query and automatically reforms the query by using knowledge from the semantic layer. We carry out performance evaluation of similarity using recall and precision.","PeriodicalId":276867,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings. With the growing interest in spatial and spatio-temporal data as well as the mechanisms for holding such data, the spatial context within which data is formatted also becomes an issue. The method, named NIGELOG, produces multiple backups of the logging information, hides them in arbitrary directories, and periodically moves these backups to other directories. Also, NIGELOG can automatically restore the original logging information by using the backups even if the original file is altered or deleted by intruders. NIGELOG is implemented as a C++ class library with some standard software libraries and does not require additional hardware such as write-once media. It is easier to apply NIGELOG to UNIX applications which produces log-files.","PeriodicalId":276867,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings. In the context of medical informatics, the patient record document needs a looser structuration process as an a priori structure can hardly be defined. Thus we first propose an authoring tool that allows us to annotate embedded information, i.e. to give them a context, with qualifiers that are stored in a thesaurus rather than in SGML-like DTD. The retrieval process in the patient records collection takes into account the flexibility of the qualifying process while reformulating the queries.","PeriodicalId":276867,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings. This survey was part of a broader study about the use of the resort's infrastructure, based on the time-geography methodology. As such, the presented experience may be seen as an attempt to implement some concepts of the time-geography using temporal database technology. Throughout the paper some shortcomings of current temporal data models regarding human displacements analysis are pointed out, and possible solutions are briefly sketched.","PeriodicalId":276867,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings. The process of inconsistency management: a framework for understanding 不一致管理的过程:用于理解的框架

Failure to identify inconsistencies may lead to major problems in the operation of a system, while failure to support a range of inconsistency handling strategies can lend to a rigid and impractical development process. We argue, therefore, that the inconsistency management process needs to be made explicit, and should play a central role in defining the broader development process. In this paper we sketch out the constituent processes of inconsistency management in the context of an overall requirements engineering process. The framework is based on identification of an explicit set of consistency rules, which capture constraints on the evolving descriptions arising from process, method, notation, domain, etc. The set of consistency rules are refined as the development effort proceeds. The process model distinguishes four major steps: monitoring for inconsistency, diagnosis, handling, and monitoring the outcome. These are supported by the processes of measuring inconsistency, and analyzing the impact and risk associated with different inconsistency handling options. The framework provides a core process model for managing a large set of evolving descriptions during requirements engineering. Because the consistency rules are made explicit the framework provides greater flexibility for selecting appropriate inconsistency handling actions. It also fully supports the need to adapt the inconsistency management strategy according to local contingencies in the development process.","PeriodicalId":276867,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings. We introduce a new technique of batching proofs of knowledge. Its security is analysed and its applicability to some cryptographic protocols is described. The use of the batching technique can significantly reduce the number of online computations required in the proofs and consequently helps to lower the costs associated with the corresponding transactions. This technique is particularly useful for e-commerce related cryptographic protocols.","PeriodicalId":276867,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings.
