The subject of this paper is risk assessment in the critical infrastructure of the power system. The main threats regarding the power system and their potential consequences are presented. Risks of extreme weather events such as floods and damage caused by them are studied in the last two decades in Romania. Finally, measures are proposed to mitigate the consequences of natural disasters and return the power system under normal operating conditions in the shortest possible time.","PeriodicalId":276733,"journal":{"name":"2017 5th International Symposium on Electrical and Electronics Engineering (ISEEE)","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128713931","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An approach basing on centralized control is presented. The concept relies on the Particle Swarm Optimization algorithm as a practical method to optimize the operating points in all controllable devices and on the power flow calculations carried out with the use of Newton-Raphson algorithm making it possible to ensure the non-violation of constraints. The main attention is paid to the issue of considering all the necessary implementation and deployment details, which is often underestimated and perceived as an easy and straightforward task, especially in comparison with the process of development of theoretical approach. The base for all considerations are the experiences gained during the work on RIGRID (Rural Intelligent Grid) project, aiming to provide the practical realization of microgrid concept working in real conditions in a rural area. First, the optimization problem formulation is shortly reviewed. Second, the issues of software application integration, proper cooperation between different software units and optimization program software architecture are addressed and discussed in detail. Then, some comments on other implementation details are given. Last but not least, summary and final conclusions are included.","PeriodicalId":276733,"journal":{"name":"2017 5th International Symposium on Electrical and Electronics Engineering (ISEEE)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125187392","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The paper's objective is to present the results for a real time implementation of optimal control law for an electrical drive system with induction machine at variable flux. The optimal control is based on numerical integration of the Matrix Riccati Differential Equation and the optimal control theory. According to Bellman's theorem of optimality, the solution has been checked for different de-excitations (100%, 66 %, respectively 33%) and obtaining the reduction of the absorbed energy consumption in the case of the proposed optimal control in relation to conventional control. The optimal proposed control was also implemented on an experimental test bench and it was obtained small differences between the required signal and the acquired trajectory.","PeriodicalId":276733,"journal":{"name":"2017 5th International Symposium on Electrical and Electronics Engineering (ISEEE)","volume":"119 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125752094","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For solving the coupled problem of electromagnetic field and heat transfer, it has been used the images method that ensure the boundary conditions on two media with different electromagnetic proprieties. The solutions of the performed equations of electromagnetic field and heat transfer are presented in details by taking into account several assumptions. Numerical simulations developed for a case of surface heating of a steel cylinder confirm the obtained results. The approach developed on the paper allows appreciating the qualitative influence of different factors from the mathematic solution of the process, which leads to changes in the magnitude and slope of curve of temperature.","PeriodicalId":276733,"journal":{"name":"2017 5th International Symposium on Electrical and Electronics Engineering (ISEEE)","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122841019","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As a result, it is very likely that the demand for energy will continue to grow. Since buildings are responsible for 40% of the total energy demand, in this paper we review the vast literature dedicated to energy saving in buildings from the perspective of the feasibility on a large scale. We emphasize the solutions based on detecting and forecasting the building occupancy in order to control the HVAC and lighting systems for energy saving without affecting the comfort of the users. Several improvements of these solutions are proposed.","PeriodicalId":276733,"journal":{"name":"2017 5th International Symposium on Electrical and Electronics Engineering (ISEEE)","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123754352","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
