There are mentioned the currents of all the windings, main flux, electromagnetic torque, electrical angular speeds of the rotating field and of the rotor which define the amplitudes of the electrical, magnetic and mechanical stresses. The effect of the damping windings resistance in this complicated dynamic process is analyzed. The simulation results must be turned to account with necessity in the design stage, as well as in the industrial practice for pre-establishing the dynamic behaviour of a synchronous motor, subdued to a certain overload state.","PeriodicalId":276733,"journal":{"name":"2017 5th International Symposium on Electrical and Electronics Engineering (ISEEE)","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131803843","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Consequently, the problem of optimum design and operation of these motors, frequently used for driving small vehicles, is a very present one. Studies presented in literature show that high oscillations of torque occur in these motors in a complete rotation. That is why, the research carried out and the simulations presented aim at identifying the slots producing high torques, respectively low torques, in a complete rotation, thus justifying the oscillations. The conclusion emerged has been that the optimum variant of maximum torque implies supplying the brushless direct current motor with six pulses per period in direct direction, also indicating the value of the command angle. The most unfavourable situation, of low torque and high oscillations, occurs in case of supply with three pulses per period and reverse sequence of phases. In this case, the average value of the torque decreases by 56.7% as against the optimum machine. Eliminating oscillations in this type of motor in not possible, but an optimal design can reduce them much.","PeriodicalId":276733,"journal":{"name":"2017 5th International Symposium on Electrical and Electronics Engineering (ISEEE)","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133117082","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A low-power single-ended primary-inductor converter (SEPIC) has been chosen as a case study, for which the output voltage regulation problem in presence of parameter uncertainties is stated in the Hinf formalism as a disturbance-rejection problem. This approach is assessed by numerical simulations in MATLAB against a classical integral state-feedback control from the point of view of robustness in stability and in performance, when two parameters — input voltage and load resistance — vary, but are bounded within known ranges. Comparison shows that Hinf control design, provided that it handles more degrees of freedom, can offer more detailed information about robustness ranges, but this advantage has to be weighed against its complexity compared to state-feedback control. Choice of some either classical or robust control solution depends upon requirements and constraints of each application.","PeriodicalId":276733,"journal":{"name":"2017 5th International Symposium on Electrical and Electronics Engineering (ISEEE)","volume":"96 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133257150","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Neural networks (NN) were successful used for solving complicated issues due to their capacity of generalization and learning from examples. In this paper some aspects of image compression using artificial neural networks are discussed. The network is used in the feedback loop of the visual servoing system, which aims to control a wheeled mobile robot equipped with a robotic manipulator. Hence, grayscale images are used. The goal is to find a low-complexity feed-forward neural network (FFNN) model for image compression, with good compression rate, but with small errors between original image and the reconstructed one. The model is validated using the invariant moments of the image. Different FFNN architectures, with different data sets and training conditions, are analyzed.","PeriodicalId":276733,"journal":{"name":"2017 5th International Symposium on Electrical and Electronics Engineering (ISEEE)","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127871322","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Herein we investigate how to allocate the computation on GPU kernels and how to better optimize the problem parameters (neural structure and training set size) as well as the GPU parameters in order to maximize the acceleration (relative to a CPU implementation). It is shown that by maximizing the load (number of threads on each computational GPU core) and by a proper allocation of the GPU global memory, very large speedups (100–250 times) with respect to the CPU implementation can be achieved while using the convenient NUMBA Python package supporting CUDA programming of GPU. Consequently, it is shown that given a problem to be posed to a neural network a convenient decomposition of the network can be done in order to allocate optimally the parts of the computation to the GPU in order to maximize efficiency. Also, for CPU implementations it was found that Intel's MKL library (called from NUMPY package) can offer efficient implementation of neural layers, comparable to what is achieved using GPU.","PeriodicalId":276733,"journal":{"name":"2017 5th International Symposium on Electrical and Electronics Engineering (ISEEE)","volume":"52 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115529354","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This work presents a new method that starts from the idea that the static and dynamic stability of the self-excited synchronous, autonomous generator operation necessitates a progressive change in the field current. This change is reflected in different power characteristics depending on the interior angle. We call this method the “square root method.” By this method the field current, the three phase voltages, and the three currents depending on the load must be data captured. A dedicated software and an adjusting system ensure a field current that satisfies the requirements of a self-excited autonomous synchronous generator.","PeriodicalId":276733,"journal":{"name":"2017 5th International Symposium on Electrical and Electronics Engineering (ISEEE)","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124212673","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In real conditions, constraints related to signal's transmitting/receiving (such as the transducers configuration or the experimental setup) can affect the informational content of the signal. Thus, the received signals need content reconstruction before the parameters estimation (generally based on matched filtering). In the current study, we are interested to improve such waves TOF estimation between two transducers (a transmitter and a receiver) that are not perfectly aligned, due either to the initial experimental setup or to the vibrations in operational conditions. The misalignments of transmitter-receiver transducers introduce interferences since the propagation environment will have several propagation dispersive paths in terms of the received signals. This multipath propagation environment will conduct to interferences and, then, to the partial samples loss. In order to recover the missing samples, the proposed signal reconstruction method uses firstly a time axis (warping) transformation of the signal. The aim of time axis transformation is to turn any non-linear frequency modulation into a stationary signal in the warped domain. In this transformed domain, the CS concept is used to recover the missing spectral components. Then, an unwrapping function enables to express the recovered signal into the original time domain. We prove that the matched filter-based acoustic wave TOF estimation from the reconstructed signal is more accurate than using the original received signal.","PeriodicalId":276733,"journal":{"name":"2017 5th International Symposium on Electrical and Electronics Engineering (ISEEE)","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124305704","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
