Abstract

There are various methods that keep the terminal voltage of an autonomous, self-excited synchronous generator constant. This work presents a new method that starts from the idea that the static and dynamic stability of the self-excited synchronous, autonomous generator operation necessitates a progressive change in the field current. This change is reflected in different power characteristics depending on the interior angle. We call this method the “square root method.” By this method the field current, the three phase voltages, and the three currents depending on the load must be data captured. A dedicated software and an adjusting system ensure a field current that satisfies the requirements of a self-excited autonomous synchronous generator.
