In the perception of a trader, stock investing is a mind-boggling process mainly due to the availability of too many alternatives and too many indicators. The success in the process of investing depends on the usage of an ideal combination of indicators. Even if an investor has an ideal combination of indicators, the application of the same requires a statistical model which has the capability to sense the prospective Buy and Sell positions. Due to this reason many classification models of Statistics are gaining more and more importance in the field of Stock market investment. This work analyses three different methods of computing pivots namely standard method, DeMark method and Woodie's method. The objective of this work is to identify the most competing method of computing the pivot. Since the usage of any one technical indicator is not considered a good idea, the study identifies a combination of technical indicators to be used with the pivot points based on the statistical tests. Three combinations of the technical indicators are used to classify the stocks based on K-nearest neighbor. The study identifies the DeMark method as the most competing method and the result is also theoretically justified because this method gives more importance to the recent price action. The identification of the most competing method is done based on accuracy of the model, specificity and sensitivity as derived from the confusion matrix.","PeriodicalId":274387,"journal":{"name":"International Journal on Recent Trends in Business and Tourism","volume":"92 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115538563","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The sustainability of the institutions is the key to robust economic growth of the country especially in developing countries in continuing the intention in alleviating the poor and improving living standards of the poor. By using life-cycle stage theory as a lens, this paper identifies the funding pattern of MFIs in each stage alongside their institutions' life cycle. Based on longitudinal data of 10 years (2005-2015) of 2, 330 MFIs operating across 116 countries, this paper provides an insight into funding pattern of MFIs towards their sustainability, by using MFIs financial structure as the main characteristic in explaining the pattern. Findings reveal new MFIs are heavily dependent on soft loan from the government for initial capital for financial survival. When they grow in operation, young MFIs rely on borrowings and deposit as a source of fund, while mature MFIs are more inclined to use total assets and borrowings as their primary funding or long-term financial sustainability.","PeriodicalId":274387,"journal":{"name":"International Journal on Recent Trends in Business and Tourism","volume":"170 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127701677","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the article, the author demonstrates the devastating impact of COVID-19 on the hospitality services worldwide, and highlights the critical importance of safety, hygiene and sanitation during the pandemic and the post-pandemic era. Although there is enough merit to support these arguments (Naumov, Varadzhakova & Naydenov, 2020), I argue that a paradigm shift as such is highly unlikely to occur. First, we need to put a much greater and detailed emphasis on what we mean by a 'paradigm shift'. As Thomas Kuhn (1962), an American physicist and philosopher, introduced in his seminal work on The Structure of Scientific Evolutions , a paradigm shift refers to major changes to experiments and practices in each discipline. His definition is mainly restricted to natural sciences, but we can easily apply it to non-scientific contexts to explain fundamental changes to how we look at things, for example, changes to how we define and understand various changes in the context of hospitality and hospitality management. Over the last decades, we have witnessed a few paradigm shifts: disruptive innovations (e.g., Internet, big data analytics), the growth and development of information technologies, changing consumer preferences, emergence of online distribution systems (e.g., Expedia) and the proliferation of lodging alternatives (Ivanov, Webster & Berezina, 2017; Naumov, 2019). Those changes in the industry have greatly influenced how we look at things and led to a few fundamental changes in strategic planning and operations. In this context, the pandemic has not brought any fundamental changes to hospitality businesses. The closure of many small and medium enterprises has occurred for varied reasons and deliveries and take away services have been part of hospitality operations for a long period of time. The pandemic has led an increased popularity of previously neglected services (e.g., video conferencing calls) but is highly unlikely to bring disruptive innovations. United Nations has tried to raise accountability and responsibility among the decision makers to avert major environmental disasters through its Global Environmental Outlook. Green marketing practices are adopted by the organisations to develop environment-friendly products. The entire process of manufacturing and producing the products are also designed to consume less energy or alternative sources of energy. The use of bio-degradable parts, packaging, green supply chain and generating less pollutants in manufacturing have positive effect on the environment. This study aims to provide information about the evolution of Green marketing. The gradual development has been ecological, environmental, and sustainable. The study also leads to understanding of challenges associated with it. The green marketing being a new concept requires awareness generation through various media, especially social media, and digital medium. The increase in cost due to the green technology and green marketing is difficult to communicate to the consumers. The lack of trust factor in believing the claims made under green practices is another difficulty. The green marketing, nevertheless, benefits all the stakeholders as per the study. The consumers get eco-friendly products which makes the consumers as well as companies to contribute positively to environment safety. The companies enhance their image through green marketing as consumers wants to be associated with environment friendly companies. The impact of global warming and climatic changes reduces agricultural productivity, negatively impacts ecosystem and human health. Green production practices help in reduction of poverty and hunger and improvement in economy by better agricultural produce. The examples of green practices adopted by several companies like McDonald, Walmart, Hewlett Packard, Honda, Ikea, State Bank of India, Maruti Suzuki etc. are testimonial to the fact that organisations have become responsible and realise the positive effects of green marketing. This has also been illustrated in the study of examples of green practices adopted by the companies. The study also highlights the prospects of green marketing. The future of green marketing is full of potentialities and innovative practices. The organisations will be focussing on the use of green technology and environment friendly technology to develop green products. The areas of research and development has widened the scope to innovate and produce environment friendly products and services in different sectors of the economy. The adoption of green marketing practices is the key to develop sustainable organisations.","PeriodicalId":274387,"journal":{"name":"International Journal on Recent Trends in Business and Tourism","volume":"135 1-2","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132059635","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In many significant ways, laiphadibi is also a socio-cultural element of Meitei society. In this particular study, the participants are all women as the laiphadibi making, selling, and playing is culturally conditioned as roles of women in Meitei society since antiquities. This case study is based on unstructured interviews and conversation analysis of four women who were engaged in traditional doll business in Ima Market before COVID-19 pandemic. The findings indicate that the shutdown of Ima Market for more than seven months due to pandemic crisis-related lockdown adversely affected their livelihood. The art of laiphadibi making is already on the verge of losing as only a small section of women engages in this business in present-day Meitei society, and Ima Market is their primary point of business. Furthermore, the pandemic ensued lockdown paused their livelihood as they cannot sell laiphadibis in conventional shops as dolls are not included as essential items according to the guidelines of the Government. Therefore, at this critical juncture, it is crucial to analyse the discourses on the future of this socially and culturally significant artefact and the livelihood of those women engaged in this business.","PeriodicalId":274387,"journal":{"name":"International Journal on Recent Trends in Business and Tourism","volume":"57 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130075367","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
