The proposed technique combines the numerical efficiency of the MM procedure and the versatility of the FE method with the capability of the SD to handle the finite problem. In particular, the MM/FE method is employed to obtain the Generalized Scattering Matrix (GSM) of the single unit cell of the infinite phased array. The SD allows us to solve the finite large problem as a summation of infinite periodic problems through a Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT) approach. This advanced testing equipment makes use of Field Programmable Gate Array technology for fast processing of the baseband signals. Its RF modules include commercially available RF transceiver chips and in-house developed antennas. As a result, the UWB signal transmitted or received by such an antenna undergoes joint angular-spectral distortion, and consequently the system suffers serious performance degradation. We discuss a technique to compensate for this distortion and recover the original signal using multiple antenna arrays. To evaluate its performance, the proposed technique is applied to UWB signal propagation in an indoor multipath environment simulated using a specialized ray-tracing approach. Since channel and antenna radiation patterns depend on frequency, describing and modeling the system transfer function of a UWB system including channel and antennas is more challenging compared to a narrowband system. This paper compares mathematical modeling of UWB freespace propagation to the more realistic case of UWB multipath propagation in indoor scenarios. MR-FDPF (frequency domain par flow) is a FDTD like method that can compute indoor radio coverage at a very precise resolution (a few centimeters). Using the simulated points in particular regions, it is possible to plot the distribution of the power signal, and to fit this distribution with Rice laws. In order to confirm our results, real radio measurements have also been done. The study is aimed at obtaining guidelines useful for the estimation of the soil permittivity from TDR waveforms. The high frequency attenuation due to the propagation in the dielectric medium has a central role in deciding the shape of the TDR waveforms. High-frequency permittivity parameters are best estimated from waveforms produced by measurement system with low attenuation. The antenna in its specific integration scenario is characterized by the full wave FDTD method. Different deterministic indoor channels are characterized using ray-tracing simulation. Based on the analysis the channel transfer function, including the antennas can be derived in terms of S-parameters. From the transfer function of the antennas and the channels different antenna and channel related measures like RMS delay spread or frequency depended radiation pattern are derived. In order to evaluate the impact on the entire link performance a MatLab Simulink model of a UWB system is used to model the entire system.
