The experimental data show that in the dry season daily cycles of both observables are present and that they are linked to the wind and to the dielectric changes of the canopy. To retrieve these observations, a descriptive model for the forest and an electromagnetic model for the scattering are used. First, canonical studies are carried out about single branches scattering behavior with the goal of highlighting further results. Then, dielectric constant variation and displacements due to the wind are applied to the model and it is shown that they reproduce efficiently the experimental time series.","PeriodicalId":273349,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Numerical Electromagnetic Modeling and Optimization for RF, Microwave, and Terahertz Applications (NEMO)","volume":"152 3","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132781625","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

CNT-based antennas could help improve the performance of electrically-small antennas and for instance be used for RF interconnect or to link nano to micro world. They also represent an interesting technology for millimeter-wave and THz applications. Significant progress has been made on each of the four intertwined axes pertaining to these special antennas, modeling, analysis, fabrication and characterization. This has allowed designing and fabricating the first electrically-short CNT antenna prototypes. Indeed, we have derived an original mesoscopic model for the electromagnetic properties of aligned arrays of nano-elements with a special focus on CNTs to match simulation and fabrication capabilities. In parallel, we have reproduced and developed CNT growth and deposition techniques and established scalable fabrication processes. Additionally, an analytical model for CNT-based monopole antennas has been derived from transmission line theory. By combining modeling, analysis, simulation and fabrication, we have finally achieved the design and fabrication of CNT-based monopole antenna prototypes.","PeriodicalId":273349,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Numerical Electromagnetic Modeling and Optimization for RF, Microwave, and Terahertz Applications (NEMO)","volume":"107 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125490499","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Among the possible structures are dense, doubly periodic arrays of silver nanorods where image transmission is achieved via surface plasmon polaritons. However, the numerical simulation of such dense structures may require excessive computational resources without employing an efficient numerical approach. In this paper, the multiple-scattering based Macro Basis Function (MBF) method is applied to the shielded-block preconditioned matrix, which represents interactions between different elements of the array (subdomains). The “rule of thumb” that relates the number of MBFs generated on a subdomain to the number of iterations required by the Full Orthogonalization Method (FOM) for the same error level is investigated. For high levels of error, the number of MBFs are observed to be smaller than the number of iterations required. Conversely, for low levels of error, the FOM converges faster.","PeriodicalId":273349,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Numerical Electromagnetic Modeling and Optimization for RF, Microwave, and Terahertz Applications (NEMO)","volume":"89 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131160679","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Each of these system is composed by smaller apparatus that contains electronic components able to emit electromagnetic (EM) waves. This study describes a low cost method based on near-field (NF) to far-field (FF) transformation for radiated emission and emission security (Emsec) site survey analysis. Assembled systems need a EM verification to avoid unwanted EM emission in accordance with the current standard. Moreover EM leakages should be mitigated to avoid EM attacks. The results indicate that it is feasible use this methodology to analyze EM radiated emissions and for Emsec verification.","PeriodicalId":273349,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Numerical Electromagnetic Modeling and Optimization for RF, Microwave, and Terahertz Applications (NEMO)","volume":"78 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122296715","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The related equations are of integro-differential type and their fast discretization is a real challenge in numerical analysis. These equations depend on the frequency, and they lack stability at both high and low frequencies: any good numerical method has to cope with these instabilities. We will introduce suitable approximation techniques based on splines, see [1], and discuss how this could be used to improve on the state of the art in electromagnetic scattering problems. In particular, we will show how the use of splines allows to establish efficient Calderón-based preconditioners for high order discretizations.","PeriodicalId":273349,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Numerical Electromagnetic Modeling and Optimization for RF, Microwave, and Terahertz Applications (NEMO)","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123849763","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This new method offers better specifications with respect to traditional solutions which require higher current dissipation for increasing output voltage swing. The proposed circuit is capable of extra oscillation amplitude without increasing the current level taking advantages of tail current elimination and topology optimization. Simulation results at 2.5GHz with an offset frequency of 1MHz and 3MHz shows a phase noise of about -127.3dB/Hz and -137dBc/Hz, respectively with 1.4mA from 1.8V supply. Also, the Monte Carlo simulation results illustrate that the proposed circuit is very promising to process variations.","PeriodicalId":273349,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Numerical Electromagnetic Modeling and Optimization for RF, Microwave, and Terahertz Applications (NEMO)","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126337775","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
