However, these environmental energy sources are typically very low power. Recently, a significant number of piezoelectric devices based on lead titanate zirconate (PZTN) have been designed with the purpose of the piezoelectric transducer. At INCDIE ICPECA Bucharest we have realized a piezoelectric transducer for which a PZT+Nb piezoelectric ceramic element was used for low energy source build with piezoelectric circular and linear transducers. Due to their dielectric proprieties and small size, (38 mm × 14 mm × 2 mm), the piezoelectric linear transducers can be optimize the energy harvesting systems applications for which the vibration duration is very short. A multiphysics numerical simulation further illustrates such piezoelectric transducer operation. The energy harvesting system is constituted of five functional blocks which are described in this paper.","PeriodicalId":271843,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference and Exposition on Electrical and Power Engineering (EPE)","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125085388","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There exist several traditional methods that can solve this problem (gain scheduling, exact linearization, generalized transfer functions for nonlinear systems, etc.). The advantage of the solution proposed in this paper consists in a simple and modular controller design that can be used for a broad class of nonlinear systems. In order to be able to comprise all required steps into a single conference paper, the overall design and the resulting performance of the proposed model reference control of nonlinear time-delayed systems will be documented by an example of a one-tank liquid level control in a real hydraulic plant. Starting from a basic P controller, its structure is gradually extended by a model reference control and finally by a nonlinear disturbance observer taking into account both the filtration of noisy signals and the time-delays always present in control circuits.","PeriodicalId":271843,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference and Exposition on Electrical and Power Engineering (EPE)","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125172630","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The device is based on the single-phase voltage angle regulation and designed to switch the lamp's circuit input voltage within three levels 230V, 190V and 170V. The selection of the level is done automatically and depends on the time hour. The dimming device operation was first simulated and then experimental validated using two power levels (of 250 W and 150W) of high pressure sodium (HPS) lamps. This device can be a relative cheap solution for the low budget lighting systems, an opportunity for the city manager of lighting and electricity to get better energy efficiency.","PeriodicalId":271843,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference and Exposition on Electrical and Power Engineering (EPE)","volume":"71 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125208401","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For this purpose, feature detectors (such as SIFT, SURF or BRISK) are utilized to create a database of products box images and extracted keypoints are stored. Existing algorithms based on keypoints analysis do not allow to identify multiple identical logos, due to the fact that a homography calculated on found keypoints can span two or more objects and the result then can be skewed. In this paper a solution to this problem will be shown, that by using a sliding window that joins multiple found keypoints into individual objects, it is possible to correctly detect multiple identical objects. In this paper preliminary results of a mobile framework that allows recognition and counting of visible products in surroundings of the user will be presented.","PeriodicalId":271843,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference and Exposition on Electrical and Power Engineering (EPE)","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128373604","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The system is comprised of a wheelchair with an artificial upper limb that has a laser light source that is projected on a plexiglass special design table. The table has a modular position thanks to the artificial limb. A small orthotic device with the light source is attached to the extremities of the upper limb. The laser light may be projected on the table, in horizontal or vertical plane, and the position of the light spot may be continuously recorded on a computer. The table helps as a reference system for the ROM assessment and also for computing some special measures (e.g., the value of the maximum movement amplitude). The design of the table is also useful for different exercises necessary for shoulder and upper limb rehabilitation. Using the digital recording and a dedicated image analysis software of the light spot it is possible to compute the capability of movement but also to assess the rehabilitation degree by comparing in time the positive evolution of the rehabilitation program. The device is distinguished by its low price of production, the simplicity but also the precision of the method and the capacity to include a computer rehab user interface.","PeriodicalId":271843,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference and Exposition on Electrical and Power Engineering (EPE)","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115101166","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There are some attempts for specific regulations. Using photographic tools can be a solution, especially because of the possibilities to achieve global measurements of the lighting field. The purpose of this paper is to substantiate a work in which the general public aware of the phenomenon, based on qualitative evaluations and quantitative assessments. Moving from photography at night, for which there are sufficient quantitative information, towards the assessing of light pollution (not even benefit from an operational definition) is another important goal. And this is not only about street lighting (for which there is a description of the specific efficiency) but also for architectural lighting and advertising. The outcome sought by the author is finding a way to better observe early forms of light pollution and also to promptly report the serious situations or the exaggerate levels of the phenomenon. The method is based on low level aerial photography, and data processing to make the difference between useful light (on the street, on the facades etc.) and light pollution. Computing the global fields of light, received at different altitudes, it is possible to identify the pollution, even the source of it. In other case, there is no feedback mechanism to perform the self-limitation of the negative effects of light pollution. This could represent a main contribution to the designing of lighting systems.","PeriodicalId":271843,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference and Exposition on Electrical and Power Engineering (EPE)","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134634405","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
