This paper investigates the mobility factors in predicting the next location of sensor nodes to guarantee the accuracy of forwarding decisions. Based on historical location information and angular movement, nodes predict the positions of one-hop neighbors. Since this work predicts the basic mobility behaviors of the sensor nodes (i.e., speed, direction and degree of randomness), it can be also used to estimate neighborhood time, route reliability and so on. The simulation results show that the proposed work precisely estimates the next location of sensor nodes.","PeriodicalId":270099,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Technologies for Sustainable Development (ICTSD)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-04-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130225110","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the vital factors for night-time travel is temporary blindness due to increase in the headlight intensity. While headlight intensity provides better visual acuity, it simultaneously affects oncoming traffic. This problem is encountered when both drivers are using a higher headlight intensity setting. Also, increased speed of the vehicles due to decreased traffic levels at night increases the severity of accidents. In order to reduce accidents due to temporary driver blindness, a wireless sensor network (WSN) based controller could be developed to transmit sensor data in a faster and an efficient way between cars. Low latency allows faster headlight intensity adjustment between the vehicles to drastically reduce the cause of temporary blindness. An attempt has been made to come up with a system which would sense the intensity of the headlight of the oncoming vehicle and depending on the threshold headlight intensity being set in the system it would automatically reduce the intensity of the headlight of the oncoming vehicle using wireless sensor network thus reducing the condition of temporary blindness caused due to excessive exposure to headlights.","PeriodicalId":270099,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Technologies for Sustainable Development (ICTSD)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-04-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133545554","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This Project demonstrates the research and implementation of Voice Controlled Intelligent Fire Extinguishing Robotic Vehicle. The vehicle is controlled through User Voice Command. The voice input allows a user to interact with the robot which is familiar to most of the people. It can also sense the temperature which has self-defensive ability so that there will be no more harm to the robot. The advantages of speech activated robots are hands-free and fast data input operations. The voice commands navigate the robot in the required direction and the outlet of the water pump can be controlled by our voice. The medium of interaction between humans and Robotic Vehicle is through the VB (Visual Basic) Software. The complete system consists of three subsystems, the Visual Basic Software, transmitter section and the receiver section (on vehicle). The results prove that proposed robotic Vehicle is capable of controlling fire, avoiding obstacles. This Robotic vehicle can be used in Rescue operations during fire accidents where the possibility for service men to enter the fire prone areas is very less.","PeriodicalId":270099,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Technologies for Sustainable Development (ICTSD)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-04-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130119892","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, this modality is not always an appropriate form of output. Novel approaches that allow for private and inconspicuous interaction are paramount. The intention of this paper is to develop a hand glove which is wirelessly connected to an android device for the visually impaired. The visually impaired gives a Braille input with the help of hand glove which is converted to text. The converted text would be read aloud by the android device. This enables the visually impaired to use an application in an android device. Finger Braille consists of six force sensitive sensors that are used to detect pressure and communicate single characters. The device would be able to simultaneously actuate the users' index, middle, and ring fingers of both hands, providing fast and mnemonic output.","PeriodicalId":270099,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Technologies for Sustainable Development (ICTSD)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-04-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121444185","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Cloud computing provide three service models namely, Platform as a Service (PaaS), Software as a Service (SaaS) and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS). The proposed system uses the IaaS service which provides users storage as a service. The system follows the Optimal Cloud Cost Resource Provisioning (OCRP) algorithm to calculate the optimal cost and allocate virtual machines to the user. This algorithm provides a logic that manipulates the virtual machines so that none are overloaded at a given instance of time. The resources are monitored dynamically on the server screen and in an indexed format stored in the virtual machines provided by the cloud server. This system is built on the Ubuntu 12.04 LTS server and the OpenStack cloud server is built on a Metal as a Service (MaaS) server which is hosted on a hard disk. As the MaaS server is stored on a hard disk, the resources becomes 24/7 accessible to the provider. This reduces resource loss and also provides a backup to the system.","PeriodicalId":270099,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Technologies for Sustainable Development (ICTSD)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-04-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123131106","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The critical road conditions affecting the smooth movement of vehicles increases the traffic issue also the unorganized traffic flow, no dividers, steep curves, etc. gives birth to the accidents. Lack of information of the shortest path affects the emergency vehicle routing. Although calamities, accidents or casualties are subject to factors that cannot be predetermined, an precautionary measures can play a crucial role to avoid the same. The aim of this work is to develop a GIS based system for efficient vehicle management. GPS on client side gets coordinates of the client and sends it to the web server. The Server handles the request and updates the database with the locations of all the vehicles. The information is plotted on a GIS MAP and viewed by the admin to guide the user. By using the information obtained from the client; client can be routed to the most efficient path, he can also be updated with the accident prone areas. In this system dynamic shortest path is used for efficient travelling. The algorithm used for shortest path is based on Dijkstra algorithm. This data can be further exported in the form of daily reports. Using Geo Fencing concepts, alerts are sent to the client, when a client diverts from his routed path. This paper explores the foundation of GIS-GPS, location based services and Geo Fencing.","PeriodicalId":270099,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Technologies for Sustainable Development (ICTSD)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-04-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116350520","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
