These tools have generally been studied for their pros and cons inside the design process, and always in comparison with more "traditional" tools (freehand sketches or physical models) [9; 5]. The paper suggests rather to consider these mediating tools' complementarities, that can sometimes occur very early inside the design process (since ideation). The theoretical bases that structure the whole intervention are presented and discussed given this suggestion, as well as the in situ intervention's main results. The new professional work-habits are objectivised.

This study offers an exploratory anthropocentric research aiming at establishing the fundamental principles of an aircraft architecture that would put its operator in optimal conditions to make the right decisions.\u0000 As future missions become more and more complex and because the process timeframe keeps getting shorter, when analyzing the cognitive mechanisms, the possibility to share the decision authority between the human and the machine has to be envisaged.\u0000 Crewmembers interviews allowed to identify and to flight simulate improvement opportunities. The first results yield a sensible reduction in the feeling of stress due to difficulty leading to overload and an increased serenity thanks to a better anticipation gained with automatic functioning.\u0000 Moreover, the progress in measuring physiological changes could make the transfer more seamless when sharing the load, still considered with a unique artificial intelligence approach.

One consequence is the changing status of the ergonomist, from an expert in diagnosing existing activities, to an expert in identifying opportunities in the use of a new product, with a need for new methods and tools to assist prospective analysis of future use. We propose an original approach to address this need of designers in general and ergonomists in particular. We first present a survey of issues regarding ergonomics involvement in NPD projects. We then argue that creativity methods may be used to address some of these issues. Lastly, we describe a protocol to test this claim, assessing the benefits of two creativity methods -- brainwriting and discovery matrices -- for prospective use analysis, with two different applications: the design of products based on emerging technologies, and that of safety systems.

Design a product requires to anticipate, to envisage the future modes of use, to test them and provide solutions in term of adjustment of performance man-man and man-machine to reconcile an optimal human-machine interaction. In addition to the precious data on pilots behaviors (strategy, performance), assessments results prove the convergence and the maturity rise of our design process. Finally, the analysis highlights methodological improvements within the construction of assessments scenarios in order (i) to track the human difficulties of use and errors with adequate abstraction levels, (ii) to handle all errors types in relation with novelties and (iii) generally to increase the confidence level on the data required and collected. In particular, attention to be put to integrate innovations or novelties in an existing cockpit.

It resumes the usual methods to evaluate the utilisability of products and services according to the criteria of the Standard ISO 9241-11: the objective measures supply direct indications of efficiency and effectiveness, the subjective measures can be directly connected in felt customer (satisfaction on the simplicity). It wonders about the evolution of the practice which would take into account the other elements presented in the literature (emotional constituent, cost, aesthetics, utility, etc.) to collect and measure the perception of the customer in a constant concern of simplification of the major offers.

His position, the constraints he undergoes, or the setting of his working space can all deeply impact emotional expression through movement. When performing an automatic emotion recognition, an evaluator must be able to set up some parameters for the recognition so as to adapt to the evaluation conditions. Current recognition system do not allow for such adaptability. In this paper we present the eMotion software for movement-based emotion recognition. eMotion's software architecture allows easy integration of graphical widgets for parametering emotional features extraction to suit the task at hand.

Our "socio-cognitive" approach allows highlighting the status of these objects (particularly the concept of a "system") and also what "producing knowledge" means in the frame of such processes. This reflection leads us to (re-) consider the way we have to build "systems" socio-cognitively, to take life-cycles into consideration and to begin to think about the development of knowledge and competences that actors (particularly project managers) need in order to intervene cleverly in the management of such projects of innovation and design.
