Starting from a set of measured hysteresis loops, a convenient and effective method to train the network consists to identify the Preisach model and use it for the generation of the training set. The obtained neural network turned out to be particularly robust and able to reproduce the behaviour of the Preisach model with a significant reduction of the computational time. The type of exoskeleton considered consists of three joints, one of translation along the spine and two of rotation for the arm of the exoskeleton. The first approach presented is for the people who have the intention to move at the level of the muscles, which can be detected with the help of non-invasive EMG sensors, but cannot sustain the movement for a long time. In this approach within the control system there are two components. The first is computational only, which includes the Denavit-Hartenberg models: direct for the human arm and inverted for the exoskeleton. The second component is an ANN-based estimator that estimates the arm’s movement angle based on the acquired EMG signals. The second approach presented in the paper is for people who cannot voluntarily perform the arm movement. Among them, the MAKO system is a high-tech robotic platform for prosthetic surgery in orthopaedics. Liguria faces the problem of the balance between demand and offer of arthroplasty due to the high presence of the elderly concerning its demographic configuration. The high passive mobility due to the interventions of orthopaedic prostheses and the presence on Ligurian soil (Local Health Unit 5, LHU5) of a robotic system for the prosthetic implant, suggest to perform an assessment of the assistant consequences, economic, social and ethical caused by the adoption of MAKO technology with an HTA approach.Methods: We conducted a comprehensive review of the scientific literature to find evidence on the benefit of MAKO robotic-arm assisted surgery for partial (UKA) or total (TKA) knee arthroplasty. Data on the number of admissions for UKA and TKA interventions and the hospital stay average in Liguria was extracted from the regional database.Results: The literature search identified 14 papers. Most of them were not considered with proper evidence because not being peer-reviews published in an indexed journal, studies conducted on cadavers, limited to the operative phase and lacking clinical outcomes, non-experimental studies, studies without comparators or with inadequate comparators. Thus, we selected 3 studies. Focusing on the LHU5 data from the regional database, we observed an annual increase of about 90% in hospitalizations and an average decrease of 3-day hospitalization days.Conclusions: The type of studies and the evidence available are rather thin and not consolidated either from clinical effectiveness or safety or cost-effectiveness. It is not possible today to estimate adequately how and how much these costs will be translated into practical clinical benefits and possible economic savings. Simple analytical expressions are proposed for the evaluation of the length of stator and rotor magnetic field lines in the air-gap as a function of rotor eccentricity. By means of some appropriate considerations, the analytical expressions of the flux-density distribution of armature and rotor across the air-gap is yield. They allow us to point out a mathematical model of the machine in terms of concentrated parameters. Even though the main scope of DTT is the study of the fusion power exhaust, DTT is a complete last-generation tokamak with many power supply (PS) systems. The PSs controlling the \"poloidal\" magnetic fields are particularly challenging not only due to the extremely high current amplitude, but also because the field must be continuously changed. Moreover, the PS system must be able to rapidly discharge the superconducting coils without interrupting the current flow. Ketty includes a food intake diary and a parameters monitoring section that allows the clinical staff to remotely oversee patients. In this work we describe a companion tool that has been implemented for empowering those patients in designing tasty meals. Methods: We used the Banca Dati Alimenti (BDA) provided by the Istituto Europeo di Oncologia as the source for the nutrition facts of the food ingredients and The Meal Db which is publicly available on the Internet as a source of recipes. We designed an algorithm for reshaping available recipes making them compliant with the dietary prescription.Results: A first standalone prototype written in Java has been implemented importing data from the BDA and interfacing through a Web Service with The Meal DB database. When a target prescription is provided in terms of lipids, carbohydrates and proteins, the algorithm first proposes a set of recipes to work with and then reshapes the selected one solving the planning meal problem.Conclusions: The prototype is be able to create recipes matching very closely the target provided and preserving their tastiness. Distributed approaches are being developed to facilitate the transition towards decentralized, community-driven energy systems which contribute to the integration of renewables in existing power systems. In this paper, we present results from the ongoing research project eDREAM, which aims to provide flexibility on grid operation, support the integration of renewables, and develop strategies to manage energy storage systems. In particular, we propose an optimization problem tailored to optimize profits from energy trading in Virtual Power Plants (VPPs).
