These emphasize some locations that are well known and often used by them. The locations are used as guides, which are referred to as landmarks, for accomplishing their aims. This paper presents a new method for directly selecting landmarks from the road maps. One of the advantages is to identify landmarks according to the name and road frequencies. The name frequency shows the number of maps in which a location name is drawn. The road frequency shows the number of maps in which a road is drawn. These are used for judging whether locations are emphasized in the maps. Thus, the method finds landmarks from many cities because some road maps cover the cities. An experiment was conducted using 149 subjects to examine the effectiveness of the method. According to the results, the method found 80% of the subjects' landmarks. It also found 30% more landmarks than a conventional method.","PeriodicalId":268141,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 13th International Conference on Advances in Mobile Computing and Multimedia","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132501829","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we propose a means to share seamless access to the Internet immediately among survivors using surviving access lines including ground infrastructures and satellite communications even if disaster exceeds assumption. We introduce the notion of TNI (Tangible Network Interface) that can easily configure small handy router named Flexible Router on site without configuring the settings of router from external console device. We also introduce Integrated Wireless Authentication System to share Internet access line among disaster survivors. We implemented Flexible Router and its TNIs and demonstrate its performance.","PeriodicalId":268141,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 13th International Conference on Advances in Mobile Computing and Multimedia","volume":"83 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124608010","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is particularly the case with photographs, with vast amounts being created and shared online every day. Never-the-less, it still remains a challenge to discover the \"right\" information for the appropriate purpose. This paper describes and discusses the testing and evaluation of the MediaPlace system with the well-known dataset YFCC-100M, which contains 48 million geospatial geotagged photographs, from Flickr produced by Yahoo. MediaPlace is a system which we have developed to automatically enrich geotagged photographs with semantic geospatial information derived from several online geospatial datasets.","PeriodicalId":268141,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 13th International Conference on Advances in Mobile Computing and Multimedia","volume":"216 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115514448","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper proposes an ultra-wideband (UWB) indoor tracking system for blind people in a high interference environment such as facilities with communication equipment. To the best of our knowledge, our proposed system is the first that offers two features (1) server-based tracking, in which the administrator can get the current position and the path of the blind person in question; and (2) situation awareness, in which the blind person can get voice information about existing and surrounding places. The system has shown satisfactory results when it was used and evaluated by some blind participants.","PeriodicalId":268141,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 13th International Conference on Advances in Mobile Computing and Multimedia","volume":"119 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132400234","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The frame and flight dynamics of micro UAVs may cause wireless signal obstruction, data rate adaptation has not been optimized for the aerial use, and brute-force transmission when coming in range of another UAV is not efficient. Further, in multi-hop UAV networks routing algorithms are affected by mobility-related disconnections. Promising transmission and data forwarding solutions exploit delay-tolerant data dissemination as well as location and movement context of the UAVs. Moreover, UAVs are flying robots that can deliberately move to improve communication quality. The paper provides a summary of major findings in past experiment-driven research extended by a discussion of major system and scaling challenges in UAV fleet communication.","PeriodicalId":268141,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 13th International Conference on Advances in Mobile Computing and Multimedia","volume":"158 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132451646","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Most approaches addressing tracking in such type of scenario, use data association based on motion detection responses. Such approaches fail tracking objects with low speed or static ones. To alleviate the motion detection failures, in this paper we propose a multi-object tracking system based on combining motion-detection and Compressive Tracking detection responses. In this work, as in [1], the multi-object tracking problem is solved by associating tracklets according to their confidence values. For reliable association between tracklets and detections, we propose using Compressive Tracking (CT) as a mean to detect objects when motion-detection fails. By exploiting the compressive tracking, which allows discriminating the appearances of objects, tracklet association can be successfully achieved even when objects undertake stop-and-go motion as well as when they are partially occluded. Experiments with challenging airborne video datasets show significant tracking improvement compared to existing state-of-art methods.","PeriodicalId":268141,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 13th International Conference on Advances in Mobile Computing and Multimedia","volume":"53 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129173813","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As such, flexible enough architectures are necessary to provide direct answers to applications requiring changes in their reactive behavior at runtime. To address this challenge, we present EveWorks, an Android application running on mobile devices, offering context-aware reactive services to other applications. Contrary to the norm found on the literature, EveWorks relies on definition of events of interest through expressions written in EveXL (EveWorks Expression Language), an original scripting language interpreted at runtime, thereby granting the desired adaptability to client context-aware applications. We evaluated the viability of EveWorks and EveXL and obtained evidence that EveXL is legible and straightforward, and is an adequate tool to express events. On the other hand, the results support EveWorks as a valid approach to facilitate development of reactive applications.","PeriodicalId":268141,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 13th International Conference on Advances in Mobile Computing and Multimedia","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129461227","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Clustering deals with dynamic topologies. It aims to overcome network failure. Vehicular nodes are characterized by high mobility, and as a result dynamic velocity and location changes. To stabilize cluster structure and to make the network connected in a restricted delay are difficult tasks to achieve. In this context, we propose a Fast Clustering scheme to form stable clusters for delay-constrained applications. Our scheme aims to minimize the cluster head election and the cluster member selection latencies. To accelerate the cluster formation process, our algorithm divides the network by taking as parameters the transmission range and the road density. Then, a suitability function determines the eligibility of a node to become a cluster head by considering direction, relative speed, relative distance and other mobility patterns. Our proposal includes also a transition mechanism in order to increase the cluster lifetime in high-speed scenarios and to avoid frequent re-clustering process. Our proposed scheme is compared to an existing Multiagent Driven Dynamic Clustering algorithm.","PeriodicalId":268141,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 13th International Conference on Advances in Mobile Computing and Multimedia","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121513851","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
