OCR software uses machine learning to recognize characters in the document. Such software needs to pass a training phase to learn how to recognize the letters in the text. In order to implement the training phase the OCR needs to use a standard dataset. The dataset can be used to evaluate the obtained results. In this research, we propose an Arabic printed OCR dataset. To the best of our knowledge, there is no Arabic OCR dataset that is available to be used by the research community with its ground truth with a size that is suitable to build a robust Arabic OCR. The proposed dataset is extracted randomly from Wikipedia to have different topics. It consists of 4,587 Arabic articles with a total of 8,994 images.","PeriodicalId":267689,"journal":{"name":"2018 8th International Conference on Computer Science and Information Technology (CSIT)","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122743898","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed process will help to detect oil spills using SAR images and estimate the amount of oil spilled in a region. A sample image is evaluated using three different meta-heuristic search algorithms including Simulated Annealing (SA), Genetic Algorithm (GA), and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) to determine the oil spill region; the results of the three algorithms are then compared. The three algorithms are used to determine the optimal cluster centers for three clusters (water, oil, and a mix of water and oil). The main advantage of this proposed method is its accuracy in determining the optimal cluster centers, which enhances oil spill detection in an area.","PeriodicalId":267689,"journal":{"name":"2018 8th International Conference on Computer Science and Information Technology (CSIT)","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132167127","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, violations of confidentiality and integrity are still issues associated to this technology. In this context, there is a need for tools that enable organizations/users to verify the integrity of their information stored in cloud services. In this paper, we present the design and implementation of an efficient service based on provable data possession cryptographic model, which enables organizations to verify, on-demand, the data integrity without retrieving files from the cloud. The storage and cryptographic components have been developed in the form of building blocks, which are deployed on the user-side using the Manager/Worker pattern that favors exploiting parallelism when executing data possession challenges. An experimental evaluation in a private cloud revealed the efficacy of launching integrity verification challenges to cloud storage services and the feasibility of applying containerized task parallel scheme that significantly improves the performance of the data possession proof service in real-world scenarios in comparison with the implementation of the original possession data proof scheme.","PeriodicalId":267689,"journal":{"name":"2018 8th International Conference on Computer Science and Information Technology (CSIT)","volume":"119 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131418851","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This standard is developed with an aim to reduce the video bitrate requirements by 50% with no degradation in the video quality. In the field of telemedicine, the HEVC standard can help in lowering the bitrate requirements for coding medical videos and thus enhance their compression efficiency and transmission performance over communication channels. In this paper, a comparative performance evaluation of the HEVC standard with its predecessor the H.264/AVC has been carried out in the context of medical videos. The evaluation results are achieved using three different configuration modes currently provided by the JCT-VC team, namely the random access, low delay and intra configurations. In order to perform a fair comparative evaluation, the H.264/AVC standard is also configured to match as close as possible to the configuration modes of the HEVC standard. The encoded videos of both HEVC and H.264 standards are transmitted over simulated 4G networks in order to study its influence on system resource utilisation and transmission efficiency. The test results show that the HEVC standard gives higher compression efficiency over the H.264/AVC standard, resulting in a reduction in bitrate requirements, which further helps in achieving better quality transmission over LTE/LTE-A networks.","PeriodicalId":267689,"journal":{"name":"2018 8th International Conference on Computer Science and Information Technology (CSIT)","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129374878","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Data aggregation between sensor nodes is huge unless a suitable sensor data flow management is adopted. Clustering the sensor nodes is considered an effective solution to this problem. Each cluster should have a controller denoted as a Cluster Head (CH), and a number of nodes located within its supervision area. Clustering demonstrated an effective result in forming the network into a linked hierarchy. Thus, balancing the load distribution in WSN, to make efficient use of the available energy sources, and reducing traffic transmission can be achieved. In solving this problem, we need to find the optimal distribution of sensors and CHs; thus we can increase the network lifetime while minimizing the energy consumption. In this talk, we are proposing three hybrid clustering algorithms based K-Means clustering and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) to achieve efficient energy management of the WSNs. Our proposed algorithms are compared to the traditional clustering techniques such as the Low Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy (LEACH) protocol and K-means clustering.","PeriodicalId":267689,"journal":{"name":"2018 8th International Conference on Computer Science and Information Technology (CSIT)","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125441154","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Measurements since 1976 until 2014 record nearly 80 cm as an annual declination average in the seawater level. In this research we are creating models to predict the seawater levels and volumes of the Dead Sea for the coming years. We also build models to predict the year at which the Dead Sea will dry. Furthermore, we create a model to find out the seawater volume that needs to be conveyed annually by the Red-Dead Sea Canal (RDSC) to balance the Dead Sea. The models are built using Arena Simulation Software which is also integrated with MATLAB to create a Graphical User Interface (GUI). The models are verified and validated. The simulation results indicate that the Dead Sea water level will continue to decline over the coming years. Consequently, the seawater volume will decline proportionally. The study concludes that the Dead Sea will dry completely after 383 years, this will happen when the seawater level reaches 730 m below the sea level.","PeriodicalId":267689,"journal":{"name":"2018 8th International Conference on Computer Science and Information Technology (CSIT)","volume":"69 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133970429","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It can be a profitable endeavor for individuals, but a tremendous loss for the industry. According to the Business Software Alliance, there is an annual revenue loss of over $52 billion in the industry (2016). Therefore, it is critical to understand as much as possible about the phenomenon, and investigate the factors that influence subjects' piracy behavior. Driven by gaps in previously published literature, the study proposed here is an experimental investigation into the gender differences in identity-based social influence. In essence, the study will examine if males or females are more likely to influence a group of their peers to either pirate, or abstain from pirating a piece of software. While this topic is previously unstudied in the field of software piracy, it could prove potentially useful in such areas as anti-piracy advertising. Further, as most of the published studies in software piracy are inclined to social desirability bias (as these studies traditionally rely on surveys and responses to paper-based scenarios), the study presented here has been designed with the specific objective of avoiding social desirability bias by having real money at stake in an experimental setting.","PeriodicalId":267689,"journal":{"name":"2018 8th International Conference on Computer Science and Information Technology (CSIT)","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121736172","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the common studied methods is removing the redundant test cases. In this research paper a short study is conducted to address the effectiveness of genetic algorithm in order to reduce the number of test cases that do not added tangible value in the mean of test coverage. Genetic algorithm is utilized in this study to help in minimizing the test cases, where the genetic algorithm generates the preliminary population, calculates the fitness value using coverage, and then selective the offspring in consecutive generations using genetic operations. This process of generation is repeated until a minimized test case is achieved. The results of study demonstrate that, genetic algorithms can significantly reduce the size of the test cases.","PeriodicalId":267689,"journal":{"name":"2018 8th International Conference on Computer Science and Information Technology (CSIT)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129735547","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
