NLB systems used today usually consist of relatively simple algorithms which in certain circumstances may lead to sub-optimal balancing decisions and uneven load on computer systems that is processing user requests. Implementing improvements to load balancing algorithms by separating control and balancing parts provides a range of new possibilities for implementers. By extending control algorithm inputs so that they can become aware of the status of the entire computer system leads to far better optimization and overall performance. One of the key sources of valuable inputs is the subjective user experience that can be analysed, quantified, and used together with other inputs to create load balancing algorithms that will make better load balancing decisions. A new approach, model and algorithm is presented in this paper alongside with results of conducted tests on a prototype where in two different scenarios measured improvements superseded tenfold previous results and eliminated dropped user requests.","PeriodicalId":267689,"journal":{"name":"2018 8th International Conference on Computer Science and Information Technology (CSIT)","volume":"152 9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133124351","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Building models based on the different conditions of each algorithm can significantly increase production efficiency and reduce costs. On the other hand, Prevention of machine downtime is the most important part of industrial intelligence as well. This study believes that reducing downtime can improve efficiency and reduce costs. So we simulate this situation and predict base on different unit time by means of Markov chain as well as Hidden Markov Model. The Markov chain can show which idle reason may cause the machine to malfunction. In addition, Hidden Markov models can help managers arrange personnel and prevent potential failures based on past status sequences. Therefore, This study concludes the accuracy upper 86 percent, so the research can help the managers to make decision and improve production efficiency.","PeriodicalId":267689,"journal":{"name":"2018 8th International Conference on Computer Science and Information Technology (CSIT)","volume":"115 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126033982","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It involves the end user, quality assurance team, developers and testers. In many cases it is performed manually. This sounds pretty easy, but in practice it is not. User Acceptance Testing faces a set of difficulties and problems such as: 1) User Acceptance Testing is carried out in the last stage of software testing life cycle so delay in any of the pervious testing stages leads to pressure and short time for UAT, 2) the roles and responsibilities of the users are not clear, 3) well-designed template which includes a set of requirements and the User Acceptance Test for each is missing. In this paper, we propose a framework to answer all of those problems. The framework provides the testers with easy steps for UAT.","PeriodicalId":267689,"journal":{"name":"2018 8th International Conference on Computer Science and Information Technology (CSIT)","volume":"80 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125155493","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

When the system's software architecture and platforms become absolute and need to be changed, re-engineering is needed. The importance of software re-engineering lies in its ability to recover and reuse things which are already existing in an outdated system. This will obviously lower the cost of system maintenance and set up the basis for future software development. This paper presents brief overview of software re-engineering and highlights its future path.","PeriodicalId":267689,"journal":{"name":"2018 8th International Conference on Computer Science and Information Technology (CSIT)","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117089039","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It plays a vital role in enhancing business processes within the organization. Research confirms the fact that applying the concept of IS/IT within the organization helps to gain competitive advantages among the competitors. This paper is aimed at investigating the current scenario of IS/IT Strategy in the Research centers at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) as well as proposing an IS/IT strategy framework aligned with their business processes. An Analytical descriptive approach was employed in this research. Results indicate that IS/IT strategy is not defined yet within all Research centers due to challenges such as lack of transferring business problems into IT solutions. However, it is highly recommended that proposing an IS/IT strategy for the research centers will provide perceived benefits among other similar organizations that help them achieve their objectives and research excellence in terms of scientific research productivity both at local and international level.","PeriodicalId":267689,"journal":{"name":"2018 8th International Conference on Computer Science and Information Technology (CSIT)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128487199","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the composition, it is necessary to have a set of services available that offer certain functionalities and also meet the constraints on the quality of service. Therefore, it is necessary to adopt mechanisms for controlling and adapting services composition. In this paper, we present an architecture for the monitoring and the adaptation of service composition using a set of components that work together to ensure the proper operation of services orchestration, which is based on the dynamic selection of the alternative service. We provide a case study of Bookstore process to illustrate our proposal and we discuss some implementation results, with mainly focusing on response time and throughput quality requirements.","PeriodicalId":267689,"journal":{"name":"2018 8th International Conference on Computer Science and Information Technology (CSIT)","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125945421","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

IoT is a network of billions of connected devices that are capable of communicating over the Internet. In IoT, data is generated exponentially by different real-time applications (e.g., social network sites and sensor-based devices). The traditional relational database management technologies are inappropriate to deal with such new generation of data due to its limited processing speed, scalability issues, and limited storage capacity. The advent of Big Data requires new advanced technologies that are capable of handling (storing, retrieving and processing) large amount of unstructured data that IoT applications produce. Not Only SQL (NoSQL) databases emerged as a solution to overcome some limitations of the traditional relational database. Recently, many NoSQL databases have been announced (e.g., Cassandra, MongoDB, HBase, Apache Hadoop, Voldemort) to deal with tremendous amounts of unstructured data. These databases depend mainly on distributed algorithms for their work in the field of IoT. One of the most used distributed algorithms is Chord protocol. However, Chord algorithm is inefficient in some cases because of its way of handling messages transferred between connected devices. All the messages in Chord are passed clockwise along the Chord ring, which leads to send a huge number of redundant messages. Chord works by creating a lookup table for each node connected to the network, which generates huge number of tables that should be updated regularly with the routing information. This paper presents a proposal for implementing an enhanced version of the distributed Chord protocol using the most two popular NoSQL databases, namely: MongoDB and Cassandra. The new version of the Chord algorithm will be evaluated and compared to the current algorithm against their performance using the two databases. Moreover, the two databases will be compared regarding their performance in terms of database operations (reading, writing, updating and deleting) and the number of messages that are sent by the nodes. The home environment controlling IoT application will be simulated using SensibleThings distributed platform for simulating the implementation of the modified protocol and to compare between the performance of the two databases.","PeriodicalId":267689,"journal":{"name":"2018 8th International Conference on Computer Science and Information Technology (CSIT)","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116555892","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The classification is based on carbon black aggregates into one of the four morphological classes that were proposed by Herd. The automatic methodologies were performed in several steps: transmission electron microscopy image processing to compute a set of twenty-one morphological characteristics, multivariate analysis of the dataset to avoid the curse of dimensionality in classification problems, and built, test and validate machine-learning techniques to classify the aggregates. In the other hand six expert researchers made a visual classification of the aggregates and later, a statistical analysis was conducted to classify the aggregates according to some defined weights. And finally, a comparison of the methods decided which method obtained the highest accuracy and was the most reliable between the compared ones.","PeriodicalId":267689,"journal":{"name":"2018 8th International Conference on Computer Science and Information Technology (CSIT)","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122143006","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
