In this talk we briefly describe their main properties and show some examples. As an example we discuss possible evolution of the spin period and the magnetic field of the X-ray source RX J0720.4-3125 assuming this source to be an isolated neutron star accreting interstellar medium. Magnetic field of the source is estimated to be 106-109G, and it is difficult to explain observed spin period 8.39 s without invoking hypothesis of the magnetic field decay. We used the model of ohmic decay of the crustal magnetic field. The estimates of accretion rate (10−14—10−16M[odot]/yr), velocity of the source relative to interstellar medium (10–50km/s), neutron star age (2.109-1010yrs) are obtained.","PeriodicalId":264948,"journal":{"name":"Surveys in High Energy Physics","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2000-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133138959","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This degeneracy occurs only for mt value close to 170 GeV, so no deep physical reason can be attributed to it. However, another puzzle of the Standard Model, the degeneracy of s2 eff and s2, is not independent of the previous one since a good physical reason exists for s2 eff and ŝ2 degeneracy. We present explicit formulas which relate these three angles.","PeriodicalId":264948,"journal":{"name":"Surveys in High Energy Physics","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2000-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115314196","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The theoretical assumptions and simplifications using in the calculations are discussed. It is shown that in the case of total cross sections and one-particle distributions the conventional NLO parton model (and even LO parton model) with the collinear approximation is enough for the data description. On the other hand, in the case of two-particle correlations (say, the azimuthal correlations of heavy quarks) the collinear approximation has failed, and it is necessary to account for the transverse momenta of initial partons for the description of the data. The different possibilities to do this are discussed, including kT kick and semihard theory.","PeriodicalId":264948,"journal":{"name":"Surveys in High Energy Physics","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2000-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116942116","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The theories under study include QCD within the so-called Method of Field Correlators, QCD-inspired Abelian-projected theories, and compact QED in three and four space-time dimensions. Various nonperturbative properties of the vacua of the above mentioned theories are discussed. The relevance of the Method of Field Correlators to the study of confinement in Abelian models, allowing for an analytical description of this phenomenon, is illustrated by an evaluation of field correlators in these models.","PeriodicalId":264948,"journal":{"name":"Surveys in High Energy Physics","volume":"60 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1999-09-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131752719","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
