It is based on the novel The Goldfinch (2013) written by the American writer D. Tartt, the winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction (2014). It proves that the tropes in question used in the book are unique and striking. Shyshkina","doi":"10.15421/382320","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.15421/382320","url":null,"abstract":"The article is focused upon the analysis of stylistic means, devices by which Alan Bradley achieves the comic effect in the novel “Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie”. In recent decades, the problem of creation of comic and linguistic means of its expression in works of fiction has been the object of attention of many researchers. However, until now, the linguistic and stylistic devices used by the authors of humorous texts to create a comic effect and express an individual worldview position have not been sufficiently studied, since the researchers focused mainly on the literary aspect, the peculiarities of the comic worldview, the structural and compositional organization of humorous works. Semantics and stylistics remain outside the attention of linguists. As a result, the detailed consideration of linguistic means of expression, used by Alan Bradley in the novel “Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie” to create a humorous effect, is in the scope of this article. Проаналізовано промову президента України перед Конгресом з урахуванням лексичних, граматичних та стилістичних маркерів. Серед основних засобів вираження модусної категорії персуазивності під час виступу В. О. Зеленського виокремлено: 1) модальні маркери на зразок can, will; 2) іменники з конотаціями вільності, незламності та свободи (freedom, dignity, independence); 3) прикметник з домінантами «стійкість» та «розвиненість»; 4) оцінні лексеми (assure, sure); 5) стверджувально-узагальнювальні лексеми each та every; 6) особовий займенник I у поєднанні з дієсловом know; 7) повторювальні конструкції; 8) паралельні порівняльні конструкції. Установлено, що задля досягнення певних персуазивних кроків та переконання аудиторії у зазначеному президент використовує сторітелінг як тактику, що вможливлює реалізацію певних дій. Важливим складником будь-яких промов є темп та ритмічність з інтонаційним виокремленням ключових ідей. Схарактеризовано паузи, ритм, тембр голосу як інтонаційні персуазивні маркери. Стратегія аргументативності задля евіденційності представленого складає підґрунтя мовлення президента. Матеріалом вивчення є промова, виголошена президентом нашої країни 21 грудня 2022 року на спільному засіданні обох палат Конгресу США. Перспективу подальших наукових розвідок вбачаємо у з’ясуванні перетину модусних категорій персуазивності, евіденційності й епістемічності в мовленні В. О. That is why shortenings become more and more popular in communication, especially in online sphere which as means of communication made shortenings even more popular.The article deals with the notion of a shortening, a difference among an abbreviation, shortening and clipping, the way they are studied in modern linguistics by foreign and home scholars. With her unique author's style and figurative language, she was ahead of her time and continues to attract domestic and foreign researchers to \"think\" on understanding what a metaphor is, where are the limits of the author's imagination, and how can they be achieved.The purpose of this article is a general review of the artistic originality of Emily Dickinson's authorial style and the uniqueness of linguistic and stylistic means of creating imagery in her poetry.At present there is a need to address the world of the poetic personality of Emily Dickinson in the light of growing attention to the work of women writers and poets and their role in the general cultural process, taking into account the special interest that has arisen recently in such global concepts as the linguistic image of the world, the author's picture of the world, as well as the world of a creative person. As a theoretical course, it focuses students’ attention on the English language development from both diachronic, and synchronic perspective, spots the differences between Old, Middle and Modern English, guides them through the changes English has experienced over history. Obviously, English is not the only language whose structure has changed over time, and our idea was to highlight the similarities and differences between English as the major language and French, German and Spanish as minor languages our students learn as part of their compulsory curriculum. В ході дослідження встановлено, що, в тогочасних підручниках, згідно з навчальною програмою, здійснювалася реалізація прямого методу навчання іноземних мов. Визначено, що на початковому етапі вивчення німецької мови метою навчання було формування навичок та вмінь правильного і вільного висловлювання в усній і письмовій формах у повсякденних побутових ситуаціях, а також розуміння культури німецького народу. У старших класах необхідно було вміти вільно читати твори художньої літератури, які пов’язані з історією, наукою та сучасною культурою німецького народу, вміти застосувати отримані знання німецькою мовою в усній та письмовій формах. Виявлено, що навчальні програми досліджуваного відрізка часу включали вимоги та рекомендації до укладання підручників.Проаналізовані підручники зазначеного періоду поділено на дві групи: підручники, які містили тексти, різні вправи та завдання; хрестоматії для читання, до яких входили уривки різножанрової художньої літератури провідних письменників.У процесі навчання іноземної мови у підручниках акцентували увагу на використанні пісенного матеріалу для формування вмінь правильної вимови. У навчальному виданні з німецької мови 1925 р. уперше виявлено виконання тестів, які полягали у виборі правильної відповіді серед запропонованих, а у підручнику 1929 р. з’являється додаток із методичними рекомендаціями для вчителя щодо виконання учнями завдань.Встановлено, що навчальні видання не містили фонетичного матеріалу. Для засвоєння лексичного матеріалу на початку вивчення іноземної мови використовувалась наочна семантизація, котру згодом замінили на вербальну. Пояснення граматичних явищ відбувалось на основі підібраних прикладів із текстів та вправ, а також рідною мовою учнів. Навчання говоріння здійснювалось за допомогою текстів, діалогів і вправ на розвиток усного мовлення. Читанню різножанрової літератури приділяли значну увагу. Для навчання письма використовувалися такі види вправ, як диктанти, переписування, творчі завдання тощо. Пропонувалось також ознайомлення з готичним шрифтом. Myroshnychenko","doi":"10.15421/382301","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.15421/382301","url":null,"abstract":"The purpose of the article is to review and arrange according to the specified criteria nominative means of expressing the concept of TECHNOLOGY in the context of the English-speaking, French-speaking and German-speaking world picture; coverage of nominative features; identification of a different and common character to determine a comprehensive idea of the expression of the concept of TECHNOLOGY in the context of the English-speaking, French-speaking and German-speaking picture of the world. The main problem of modern linguistics is the study of the relationship of language and thinking to language and culture, due to the fact that language is the founder of culture. The main attention is paid to the study of the structure of the language system in connection with the consciousness of a person, his worldview and spiritual life; specifics of speech behavior of different peoples. The concept appears as the key and most relevant unit of research in the context of cognitive linguistics.The concept of TECHNOLOGY represents a complex of socially significant ideas of a person about the process of his relations with various objects of reality. Similar concepts consolidate the intellectual space of the respective era, largely determining the nature of thinking and axiological relations of its representatives.
