The ANN directly estimates or identifies the nonlinear admittance (or impedance) of the load by using the measured values of voltage and current waveforms. The output of this ANN is a waveform of the current that the load would have injected into the network if the load had been supplied from a sinusoidal voltage source and is therefore a direct measure of load harmonics","PeriodicalId":263412,"journal":{"name":"Twenty-First Annual IEEE Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition, 2006. {"title":"Repetitive control algorithms for a real-time dynamic electronic load simulator","authors":"Zhang Rong, Chen Jian","doi":"10.1109/APEC.2006.1620648","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/APEC.2006.1620648","url":null,"abstract":"Different types of electronic load simulators for testing of power supply have been developed and commercialized. However, there exist many drawbacks, for example, it can only provide 4 modes including constant resistance, constant power, constant current, and constant voltage to simulate simple dc load and cannot simulate a load with dynamics such as R-L and R-C loads. In this paper, a method to construct a new dynamic power electronic load simulator (DPELS) is proposed and explored, and a newly digital repetitive control algorithm for the DPELS to reduce the load behavior simulation error is applied. The simulation and experiment results on a single phase full-bridge power amplifier with two stage output filter shows that this method can exhibit the load behavior approximately. It is verified that the proposed DPELS can replace a heap of RLC power components and achieve good dynamic response.","PeriodicalId":263412,"journal":{"name":"Twenty-First Annual IEEE Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition, 2006. Therefore it is important that appropriate gate driver circuits are also introduced to ease the negative concerns associated with a normally on device. By introducing inherently safe gate driver circuits specially designed for the SiC JFET, it will be possible to prove that designing applications using SiC JFETs is not as complicated as some may think. Therefore, this paper provides a follow-up to previous work that introduced an inherently-safe gate driver design for a buck converter. In this paper, another gate driver is introduced that is not only inherently-safe but also provides an isolated solution ideal for a variety of applications. This gate driver is a practical solution for driving both normally-on and enhancement mode SiC JFETs in virtually all power converter topologies","PeriodicalId":263412,"journal":{"name":"Twenty-First Annual IEEE Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition, 2006. In this method, MTPA condition is achieved by calculation of the output torque and perturbing one variable while seeking the maximum output torque at the particular operating point. The maximization of the electromagnetic torque might be sensitive to the variation of the motor parameters and also load torque. In order to reduce this sensitivity, a simple online parameter estimator is introduced and used to estimate the motor parameters and calculate the electromagnetic torque more accurately. In this case, variation and dynamics of the load are not affecting the behavior of the introduced controller","PeriodicalId":263412,"journal":{"name":"Twenty-First Annual IEEE Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition, 2006. A novel deadbeat control method, progressively converging deadbeat control (PCD), is proposed to solve the problems. Instead of sinusoidal reference signal, weighted average of the reference and current output voltage is chosen to be the target value of next sampling instant. Adjusting the weighing makes tradeoff between stability and rapidity. Static error, stability and dynamic response are analyzed using discrete transfer function. A 1 kVA prototype was built up based on DSP. Theoretical analysis and experimental results show that PCD control has good stability, small static error and fast dynamic response and the robustness is better than conventional deadbeat control.","PeriodicalId":263412,"journal":{"name":"Twenty-First Annual IEEE Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition, 2006. The integrated drive system employs a five-leg inverter to control a three-phase traction motor and a two-phase compressor motor and can significantly reduce the component count of the compressor drive for heating, ventilating and air-conditioning in fuel cell and hybrid electric vehicles. Because the common terminal of the two-phase motor is tied to the neutral point of the three-phase traction motor, PWM schemes that generate a zero-sequence voltage to the three-phase motor may produce an unwanted zero-sequence current. This paper presents PWM strategies for the two-phase motor to avoid this zero-sequence current and discusses in detail three commonly used three-phase PWM schemes. Experimental results are included to verify the effectiveness of the proposed methods.","PeriodicalId":263412,"journal":{"name":"Twenty-First Annual IEEE Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition, 2006. The working theory is analyzed and the control equation is deduced, and also the islanding protection is studied. The control approach is realized by a digital controller DSP. Different from the normal SPWM and PLL(phase locked loop) control approach in grid-connected inverters interface control, this control approach has the merit of automatic phase tracking capability, simplified control and high output power factor. And it can regulate the output in accordance with the dc voltage and grid voltage automatically.","PeriodicalId":263412,"journal":{"name":"Twenty-First Annual IEEE Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition, 2006. That dependence is strongly associated with the so called 'body effect', i.e. the enhanced sub-threshold channel conduction in the third quadrant. The model requires two parameters that can be derived from FE device simulations. These parameters agree with those found in a measurement. Step-down converter simulation examples demonstrate the impact of the gate bias of the synchronous rectifier on both reverse recovery and gate bouncing and hence on total switching losses.","PeriodicalId":263412,"journal":{"name":"Twenty-First Annual IEEE Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition, 2006.
