Usage of such portable devices with connected headphones is increasing day by day with user mobility in almost all the human age groups and sectors like traveling, workplaces, home places, walk paths, etc. This usage has an issue with the user interaction with the external world and also the contextual situations, actions and responses. Such issues lead to non-involvement and inconvenience or total destruction to the user. This depends on the surrounding situation and contextual hazardous events that may lead to accidents or life-threatening injuries. In order to handle such issues, we have designed an edge-based AI Voice responsive smart headphone for context awareness and alert system to the user. This model uses an edge-based machine learning Long Short Term Memory (LSTM) algorithm for voice recognition, runs either in the headphone or the device to which it is connected. Here the voice/sound recognition and alerting the user, can handle many contextual situations like normal interactions by name, hazardous scary situational sounds either by a bystander, or external sounds. Prototype models are developed for some of the voice records/ sounds using tensor flow ML-based algorithms over low footprint devices like mobile phones or STM 32 microcontrollers. Tested and validated for some of the voice/sound scenarios.","PeriodicalId":261794,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE International Conference on Electronics, Computing and Communication Technologies (CONECCT)","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116021908","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Despite advances in diagnostic tools, both invasive and non-invasive, more than 2 people die of the disease every hour and more than 9,500 people are diagnosed with skin cancer every day in the US. This emphasizes the need to have a screening tool which can differentiate between non-cancerous (NC) and cancerous (C) skin lesions, quickly and effectively. As most of the skin lesions are apparent to naked eyes and have different color textures, it was hypothesized that segmental analyses of photographs of suspicious lesions should be able to differentiate NC from C lesions on skin. For this study, a new and unique color circle design (CCD) for establishing a relation between wavelength (λ) and hue of the HSV (hue Saturation and Value) model is proposed. Using MATLAB, enlarged dermatoscopic images of 23 authentic skin lesions (test samples) with known diagnoses were segmented in such a manner that the region of interest (ROI) included all the suspicious areas. Thereafter, the pixels data from ROI locations were standardized and transformed from RGB to HSV space. Again using MATLAB, hue (h) and Value (V) data were extracted from HSV data. Since each h represents a unique wavelength in the visible range of the spectrum, the CCD was used to identify the cancerous lesions aided by the V parameter. Using trial and error on several other skin cancer lesions (not included in the test samples), two thresholds and a set of criteria were selected to discriminate between C and NC. Results show that use of CCD has great potential as a screening tool for skin cancer detection, achieving over 90 % accuracy on the test samples.","PeriodicalId":261794,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE International Conference on Electronics, Computing and Communication Technologies (CONECCT)","volume":"71 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116961487","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A particle swarm optimization (PSO) technique is employed to compute required excitation coefficients of array elements agreeing to the desired shape of the radiation pattern. Authors considered cosecant and flat-topped beam patterns to illustrate the perfectibility of the purposed approach. In addition, an EM simulation study is performed to further validate the potentiality of the proposed approach in constructing the practical arrays.","PeriodicalId":261794,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE International Conference on Electronics, Computing and Communication Technologies (CONECCT)","volume":"515 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116210444","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main challenge of D2D communication is interference management. In this paper, we investigate the power allocation problem of D2D communication for mitigating the interference. We propose a power allocation scheme for mitigating the interference along with enhancing the overall cell capacity. This scheme is based on the BAT optimization (BA) algorithm. The main aim of the proposed scheme is to allocate the optimal transmit power to the Cellular users (CUs) and D2D users to minimize the interference along with maximizing the channel capacity as well. We have compared our proposed scheme with random based and particle swarm optimization (PSO) based power allocation schemes. The simulation result portrays that our proposed scheme performs better in terms of enhancing the throughput of the cell along with the mitigation of interference.","PeriodicalId":261794,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE International Conference on Electronics, Computing and Communication Technologies (CONECCT)","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114206866","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Massive MIMO antenna arrays provide high gain and are used to combat high loss of mmwave signals. Conventional fully digital beamforming architecture for massive MIMO antenna arrays increases complexity and hardware cost as it requires a large number of RF chains for each antenna elements. An alternative solution is to design a hybrid beamformer where analog and digital beamformers reduce complexity and hardware constraints. Other important requirements for 5G network are low power consumption, high bandwidth and high spectral efficiency. The use of photonic solutions can dramatically improve power efficiency, and bandwidth utilization. Besides, photonic based true time delay lines (TTDs) avoid beam squint or beam pointing error over large bandwidth. In this paper, we demonstrate hybrid photonic beamformer for downlink remote radio access. We replaced RF phase shifters by ring resonator based analog beam-forming. Analog beamformer is located in remote access and the digital beamformer is implemented in baseband unit which is located in central office. The central office and remote radio access are connected by fronthaul multicore fibers which are used for spatial multiplexing to increase spectral efficiency. Orthogonal matching pursuit (OMP) based Hybrid beamforming algorithm implemented in baseband unit controls and optimizes the required group delay distributions and 3D beamforming.","PeriodicalId":261794,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE International Conference on Electronics, Computing and Communication Technologies (CONECCT)","volume":"64 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126623037","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The major challenge in designing low observable antennas is reduction in antenna scattering without any degradation in its radiation performance. Inclusion of superstrate in the antenna structure is one of the possible methods to achieve the same. This paper presents the EM design and analysis of microstrip patch array with honeycomb structure- based superstrate. The main objective is to achieve a significant reduction in the antenna RCS without degrading the antenna gain, return loss and VSWR in the operating frequency range. The proposed model for the patch array with honeycomb structure-based superstrate has been designed in 2-layer (antenna and superstrate) and 3-layer (antenna, superstrate and MA layer) configurations. The 3-layered structure of antenna-superstrate shows significant RCS reduction in entire X-band, with optimum radiation characteristics.","PeriodicalId":261794,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE International Conference on Electronics, Computing and Communication Technologies (CONECCT)","volume":"58 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126077178","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Among these, filtering is one of such algorithm which is used to either enhance or suppress certain features in the regime of interest. The signal processing research community has not paid due attention to phase-only filtering, which is the focus of this paper. In this paper, we introduce a phase-only filter design formally and highlight its advantage over other conventional techniques through illustrative examples. We propose a novel method to design an optimal phase-only filter using the least squares approach. Additionally, we demonstrate the advantage of this design in an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) receiver for reducing the group delay distortion introduced by analog/digital baseband filters with sharp cut-off frequency responses. In contrast to the conventional methods such as equalization, the phase-only filter achieves this at a lower computational complexity. Monte Carlo simulation results are provided to substantiate the theory.","PeriodicalId":261794,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE International Conference on Electronics, Computing and Communication Technologies (CONECCT)","volume":"66 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126206845","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A combination of five improvement heuristic approaches has been used to improve the constructed feasible solution. It is noticed that a large amount of CPU time is spent in the solution improvement phase while improving a feasible solution. We aim to discover an independent part of the improvement heuristic approaches and make it run over the GPU platform simultaneously. The proposed parallel version has been tested on large-scale instances of up to 20000 customers. The parallel version offers speedup up to 176.12 × compared to the corresponding sequential version.","PeriodicalId":261794,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE International Conference on Electronics, Computing and Communication Technologies (CONECCT)","volume":"235 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122954896","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The punched card's holes diameters having the sizes of 3mm, 5mm, and 5.5mm pitch. Before the adaptation of computing systems in the field of many industries, those punched cards were prepared manually without digital design sources, but those punched cards are having rich woven designs. Now, the idea is to retrieve binary information from the punched cards and store them in digital (Non-Graphics) format before processing it. After processing the digital format (Non-Graphics) it is converted into an effective image file format through either by Row major or Column major parsing technique. Measurement of strain or temperature in various applications is essential where mankind is restricted. Fiber optic technology gives a better result for the measurement of strain or temperature using FBG based sensors. The simulated results show that a 2.4 nm shift in Bragg wavelength for the applied 2000 microstrain, 1.65 nm shift in Bragg wavelength at 120 0C temperature. The detection sensitivity of the sensor is 1.2 pm/µε and 13.7 pm/0C. It also emphasizes that the combined effect of temperature and strain on FBGs, shifts the Bragg wavelength peak more in wavelengths.
