In this talk, the steady state analyses of the residual SI powers in both analog and digital domains are derived in frequency domain. It is proved that the ALMS loop amplifies the frequency components of the residual SI at the edges of the signal spectrum in the analog domain, but the matched filter in the receiver chain reduces this effect. This results in a significant improvement of the interference suppression ratio in the digital domain before information data detection. The lower bounds of the interference suppression ratio given by the ALMS loop in both analog and digital domains are then addressed. These lower bounds are proved to be joint effects of the loop gain, tap delay, number of taps, and transmitted signal properties. The discovered relationship among these parameters allows the flexibility in choosing appropriate parameters when designing the IBFD systems under given constraints. Finally, the effects of I/Q imbalance in the ALMS loop and the upper bound of the degradation on SI cancellation performance are then investigated. The degradation is proved to be insignificant even under severe conditions of I/Q imbalance. The upper bound of the degradation provides an essential reference for the system design.","PeriodicalId":261348,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Signal Processing and Communication Systems","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127028277","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The development of the wireless internet of things with a massive machine-to-machine communications raised the importance of power consumption for sophisticated algorithms, such as channel equalization or decoding. The strong link existing between computational speed and power consumption suggests an investigation of signal processing with energy efficiency as a prominent design choice. Therefore we revisit the topic of signal processing with analog circuits and its potential to increase the energy efficiency. Channel equalization is chosen as one application of nonlinear signal processing, and a vector equalizer based on a recur-rent neural network (RNN) structure is taken as an example to demonstrate the potential of state of the art in very large scale integration (VLSI) design. We show for this example that it is possible to achieve an energy requirement of few pJ/bit, an improvement of three to four orders of magnitude compared with the most energy efficient digital circuits. As a second example, we consider iterative decoding algorithm based on message passing. They can be represented by a generalized RNN structure. Again, this allows to derive an equivalent analog circuit. Compared to digital circuits, analog circuits allow to perform iterative decoding or equalization with increased computational speed, reduced chip area and power consumption.","PeriodicalId":261348,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Signal Processing and Communication Systems","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114700542","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is known that packet contention is a critical issue for increasing the throughput in the uncoordinated transmissions. Thus, how to deal with packet contentions is the key for novel efficient multiple access schemes of future wireless communication networks. In this talk, we investigate the design and analysis of random multiple access schemes and coding techniques for the future machine to machine. We design the optimal coded slotted Aloha (CSA) scheme with repetition codes and maximum distance separable (MDS) codes under both packet erasure channels and slot erasure channels. We derive an upper bound on the throughput of CSA scheme. We show that our optimal distributions improve the maximum traffic load and enhance the throughput of the CSA scheme significantly. Moreover, we propose a Gaussian elimination (GE) aided successive interference cancelation (SIC) decoding (GE-SIC) method to further improve the throughput of the CSA scheme. We demonstrate that by introducing the GE decoding to recover packets that cannot be decoded by the SIC decoding, the peak throughput of CSA scheme can reach as high as 90%.","PeriodicalId":261348,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Signal Processing and Communication Systems","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114288265","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A flat distributed architecture could be however more efficient, more scalable, and easier to operate and maintain than a hierarchical system, and provide lower capital and operational expenditure and no single point of failure. This new architecture paradigm could also deliver a wide range of enhanced business and performance benefits for operators deploying a wireless network. With the introduction of new mobile devices and mobile applications, these distributed flat networks can significantly reduce the system complexity and provide the foundation for a robust and versatile service delivery platform. They would also integrate much easier with the emerging cloud computing frameworks for a true wireless long-term evolution, leading the current wireless cellular model towards a new wireless grid paradigm.","PeriodicalId":261348,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Signal Processing and Communication Systems","volume":"61 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116075847","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To achieve green radio network, operators need to shift their focus to energy efficiency oriented design when deploying macro and micro base stations. In practice, however, the operator should consider not only the energy efficiency but the deployment cost for base station deployment. These two aspects are interacting each other and green network architecture needs to consider these two aspects. In this paper, we propose guidelines for base station deployment of uplink cellular systems. We focus on the connection between energy consumption of the mobile phones and network throughput and consider the relations between deployment cost for base stations and the network throughput. We consider heterogeneous networks with macro and micro base stations, and then we drive the characteristics of energy efficiency and deployment efficiency as a function of macro cell radius.","PeriodicalId":261348,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Signal Processing and Communication Systems","volume":"53 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130421734","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
