The industrial foundation of Tibet autonomous region is less developed, its load level is rather low, the power grid structure is relatively weak, and the power source mainly includes hydropower and photovoltaic, the peak regulating capacity is very limited. Therefore, its PV hosting capacity is inadequate and solar light discard rate is somewhat high (more than 30 percent often). How to improve the PV hosting capacity of Tibet power grid is an urgent problem. The main characteristics of Tibet power grid include: large capacity generator within small power system, strong DC coexists with weak AC, grid structure is rather weak. Most of the power sources in Tibet are hydropower. The proportion of PV installed is large, and the proportion of thermal power is very small and only used for peak load regulation, and they are cold standby generators. The daily peak load in Tibet appears at night, and the yearly maximum load is in winter. Therefore, Tibet power grid needs a lot of incoming power in winter while the solar light discard rate is rather high in summer. In normal operation mode, the PV outputs are limited seriously, but the capability of PV power generation to participate in frequency adjustment, to support the transient stability and voltage stability of the power grid has not been developed. According to the characteristics of Tibet power grid, three measures to improve the PV hosting capacity of Tibet power grid are studied, includes:1)Improving the active power control of the PV power station.2)Realizing globally reactive power optimized coordination control by coordinated control of reactive power compensation equipment.3)Improving the generator-grid coordination performance by changing the related parameter settings. Firstly, a model of the CCHP system is designed to describe the relationship of energy inputs and multiple outputs, which is connected with power grid and natural gas, and providing electricity, heat water and cool water. Then, on the basis of the proposed mathematical model of CCHP, multi-objective optimization model is put forward to allocate the CCHP capacity, which is focused on the maximum purpose of environmental and economic benefits. The optimal configuration model is supposed to meet the energy balance constraints, equipment capacity constraints and equipment operation constraints. Genetic algorithm NSGA-II is used to solve the optimization model to achieve the goal. To overcome the shortcomings of the traditional strategy, two coordinated control strategies are proposed. The main idea is adopting the overcurrent in the dc-side as the criterion of pre-operation, and the ASCB will close in advance when it is satisfied. In the proposed strategies, the current that flows through the main breaker will be reduced, as well as the injecting current towards the ASCB from neighboring converters. However, the market members participating in the direct power transaction between provinces have great differences in geographies, and the transmission loss caused by differences should not be neglected. When dealing with the direct power transaction between provinces, we do not consider the impact of transmission loss, which greatly brings on unfair trading in the market. This paper builds a direct power transaction model between provinces considering the safety constraints and transmission loss. Considering the multiple operation modes of power grid, the model puts forward the measurement method of transmission loss and studies the ordering rule of direct power transaction between provinces. The rule considers the impact of transmission loss under the premise of giving priority to prices and giving priority to energy conservation and environmental protection. The model promotes the refinement of trading methods and maintains the fairness of transactions in power market. The result is relatively stable and can be used as empirical data for practical application. The ANSYS was used to simulate the electric and thermal field of the polluted insulator. In order to obtain acceptable selectivity in case of faults on these closed-ring structures, an additional protection relay in the coupling point (“coupling relay is beneficial. If the coupling relay (CR) is a conventional overcurrent or distance relay, it suffers from shortcomings like a highly reduced reach towards the substation caused by the necessity to discriminate low fault currents against high currents in non-faulty operation states. Furthermore, DER fault current contributions may lead to sympathetic tripping of the CR in case of faults on adjacent feeders. The proposed CR approach overcomes those challenges by using a negative-sequence reactance criterion. The method’s reactance results are not disturbed by phenomena like fault resistance or variable DER infeed. There is no risk of sympathetic tripping and the CR can be properly coordinated with other protection relays on spur feeders of the ring. This is achieved without communication channels between the CR and other relays or DERs. This planning method sets up the model, which aims to reduce the annual cost (includes the costs of equipment, operation, maintenance, fuels and carbon tax) to complete the optimization of device configuration. A mixed integer linear programming model is established to determine the energy system combination, develop running strategy and build the energy transmission network. Compared with nonlinear model, under the premise that various factors are considered, the difficulty of solving the programming problem is reduced in this paper. Finally, this paper solves the model with actual data. However, the excitation system of the new-generation synchronous condensers and the reactive power compensation device of the DC converter station are controlled individually, and there is no reasonable coordination strategy. Therefore, the transient reactive power support capability of the synchronous condenser is analyzed in this paper considering with excitation control characteristics. Then, the transient reactive power demand of the HVDC transmission system is also analyzed. Based on this, the coordinated control strategy of the reactive power compensation device in DC converter station with synchronous condensers are proposed, and a coordinated control system is given in this paper. Finally, the simulation model of the new-generation synchronous condensers access to UHV DC power grids are built based on the PSCAD software. Firstly, the basic situation of Suzhou four-terminal DC project was outlined, and the key electrical equipment and its selection principle were analyzed, including the converter valves, bridge arm reactors, link transformers, and DC monitoring and protection systems. Secondly, based on the RTLAB real-time simulation platform, the simulation model of Suzhou four-terminal DC distribution system was built. Finally, based on the RTLAB simulation model, single-ended converter startup, four-terminal stable operation, active power step and reactive power step were simulated. The simulation results show that the four-terminal DC grid model has good steady state performance and active power and reactive power step response performance.
