Prasasti pada masa Airlangga hingga Majapahit dengan gamblang menyebutkan keberadaan orang-orang asing yang dalam hal ini pada konteks penarikan pajak terhadap orang-orang asing tersebut. Salah satu bangsa asing yang mendiami Jawa pada masa Jawa Kuno adalah orang Khmer. Keunikan kasus bermukimnya orang Khmer di Jawa disebutkan pula dalam sumber epigrafi Khmer. Dalam prasasti-prasasti Khmer disebutkan fenomena pemukiman orang Khmer di Jawa, dan diberitakan pula bahwa salah satu raja Khmer pernah menetap di Jawa selama beberapa tahun. Kajian ini berusaha untuk menjawab permasalahan dinamika pendudukan orang Khmer di Jawa. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kedudukan kasus menetapnya orang Khmer di Jawa sebagai suatu fenomena diaspora atau bukan. Tahapan penelitian dilakukan dengan pengumpulan data, analisis, dan interpretasi, dengan data utama berupa prasasti. Kajian ini menghasilkan pemahaman mengenai dinamika motivasi perpindahan tempat bermukim orang Khmer ke Jawa, letak daerah bermukim orang Khmer di Jawa, dan bentuk interaksi orang Khmer dengan orang Jawa. Salah satu artefak tersebut berupa mukhalingga yang ditemukan di Nanga Sepauk, Kalimantan Barat. Mukhalingga mengandung simbol religi agama Hindu. Simbol tersebut dilatarbelakangi oleh struktur budaya masyarakat yang menciptakan artefak tersebut. Selama ini penelitian arkeologi terhadap mukhalingga membahas hanya kronologi budaya tanpa meneliti aspek struktur budayanya. Penelitian kali ini berupaya mengungkap struktur budaya yang melatarbelakangi pendirian mukhalingga . Tujuan penelitian ini adalah memahami sejarah budaya masyarakat masa lalu di Nanga Sepauk. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan analisis struktural. Analisis dilakukan dengan menguraikan aspek asosiatif dan paradigmatif mukhalingga . Hasil analisis struktural menunjukkan bahwa mukhalingga merupakan wujud dari tiga aspek, yaitu kekuatan Śiwa, siklus kehidupan, dan dualisme gagasan. Pada konteks sejarah budaya di Nanga Sepauk keberadaan mukhalingga menunjukkan adanya Śiwaisme, kultus dewarāja , dan keberadaan mandala. The Hindu-Buddhist culture in Nusantara bequeaths archaeological artefacts scattered throughout the archipelago. One of such artefacts is the mukhalingga found in Nanga Sepauk, West Kalimantan. A mukhalingga contains religious symbols of Hinduism which is formed by the cultural structure of a community who created the artefact. Until today, archaeological studies of mukhalingga discuss only its cultural chronology without examining the structural aspects of the culture. This research attempts to disclose the cultural structure underlying the establishment of a mukhalingga. The objective of this study is to understand the cultural history of the past in Nanga Sepauk. The research method used is qualitative with structural analysis. The analysis is carried out by breaking down the associative and paradigmative aspects of a mukhalingga. The results of structural analysis suggest that a mukhalingga is a manifestation three aspects, i.e. the power of Śiwa , life cycle, and dualism of ideas. The research target is the Palawan, an indigenous people of Palawan Island, the Philippines. The research methods are interviews and participant observation. The research suggests that current bird traps are made of plant materials with nylon for convenience, but plant materials remain fundamental. Further, since Palawan bird-trapping technology is unrefined, and as traps are sometimes unsuccessful, trapping is likely done for enjoyment and as a challenge. Thus, bird traps connect humans to nature, as reflected in the Palawan’s eco-material culture. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah menjelaskan perangkap burung yang menggunakan bahan-bahan dari tanaman dan penggunaannya di lingkungan, serta membahas tentang: 1) aspek budaya ekologi dan material dari perangkap burung; 2) teknologi perangkap burung; dan 3) hubungan antara burung, perangkap burung, dan manusia dari sudut pandang etnoarkeologi. Metode penelitian ini adalah wawancara dan observasi partisipan. Target penelitian adalah penduduk asli Pulau Palawan di Filipina. Penulis memastikan bahwa perangkap burung yang biasa digunakan pada masa kini dibuat dari bahan tanaman dan plastik nilon untuk kemudahan. Sementara itu, masyarakat Palawan masih menggunakan bahanbahan tanaman sebagai bahan utama dalam membuat perangkap burung, dan teknologi yang digunakan merupakan perkembangan dari metode perangkap tradisional. Tujuan masyarakat Palawan menggunakan perangkap bukan sematamata untuk menangkap burung, tetapi untuk menakut-nakutinya juga agar penduduk dapat hidup berdampingan dengan burung di lingkungannya. Naskah pengobatan adalah naskah rahasia yang disembunyikan dari orang lain karena bacaannya bersifat magis, dan tidak semua orang dapat membacanya. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi landasan bagi penelitian lain yang membahas tentang mantra pengobatan yang bersumber dari naskah lama. Selain itu, penelitian ini dilakukan sebagai upaya untuk melestarikan manuskrip lama yang memuat informasi tentang kehidupan dan budaya masa lampau, melestarikan tradisi lisan mantra dan pengobatan tradisional Banjar yang mulai punah. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif dengan menerapkan kodikologi dan menganalisis isi teks mantra pengobatan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa naskah mantra pengobatan ditulis dengan bahasa Banjar berbentuk prosa dan beraksara Arab Melayu. Naskah ini memuat keterangan tentang kumpulan obat-obatan herbal, termasuk bacaan, mantra, wafak, isim, dan azimat. Lebih lanjut, bacaan dalam naskah ini diklasifikasikan dalam empat bentuk, yaitu doa, ayat Alquran, selawat, dan syahadat. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa masyarakat Banjar sejak zaman dulu sudah menggunakan berbagai media dalam melakukan pengobatan. The lack of study on healing manuscripts is due to the difficulties in finding such texts. A healing manuscript is a secret text that is kept hidden from others because it contains magic script, and not everyone is able to read it. This research is proposed as basis for other studies on healing mantra originating from old manuscripts. Further, this research is conducted as an effort to preserve old manuscripts that contain information concerning life and culture of the past, preserve the oral traditions of mantra, and traditional Banjarese healings that are becoming extinct. The research method used was descriptive by applying codicology and analyzing the contents of healing mantra. Results of this research indicate that the texts of healing mantra was written as proses in Banjarese using Arabic-Malay letters. The text contains information of a collection of herbal concoctions, including scripts, incantations, wafak, isim, and amulets. Furthermore, the literatures in this manuscript are classified into four structures, i.e. prayer, verses of the Koran, selawat, and shahada. Hal ini wajar karena para peneliti yang fokus pada kebudayaan jarang memperhatikan tinggalantinggalan arkeologis yang ditemukan di kawasan perbatasan. Tulisan ini memaparkan potensi tinggalan arkeologis di Kabupaten Kepulauan Sangihe yang berada di kawasan utara Pulau Sulawesi yang berbatasan dengan kawasan selatan negara Filipina. Penelitian ini dilakukan menggunakan pendekatan arkeologis dengan mengkaji tinggalan-tinggalan bendawi seperti kapal karam, rumah kuno, makam, dan keramik kuno, serta didukung pendekatan etnohistoris yang menekankan pada data etnografi dan arsip sejarah. Penelitian ini bersifat eksploratif dan pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan penyelaman di perairan Sangihe. Hasil penelitian adalah identifikasi dan deskripsi tinggalan arkeologis di kawasan kepulauan Sangihe yang menunjukkan kawasan tersebut adalah pintu gerbang utara dalam konteks penyebaran kebudayaan ke kepulauan Nusantara, serta pemanfaatan potensi tinggalan arkeologis untuk pariwisata. Selanjutnya, diharapkan bahwa hasil penelitian ini dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai referensi untuk penelitian-penelitian. As the frontier region of Indonesia, Sangihe presents archaeological resources that have not yet known by the public. Such circumstance is understandable since researchers who focus on culture rarely pay attention on archaeological remains discovered in the border regions. This paper describes the potential of archaeological remains in Kabupaten Kepulauan Sangihe on the northern region of Island Sulawesi that borders with the southern region of the Philippines. This research was conducted using an archaeological approach by examining material remains such as shipwrecks, ancient houses, tombs, and ancient ceramics, and supported by an ethnistorical approach emphasising on the study of ethnography and historical archives. This is an explorative research and data collection is carried out by diving in Sangihe waters. The results of this investigation are identifications and descriptions of archaeological remains in the Sangihe archipelago that suggest the region as the northern gate in the context of culture distribution into Nusantara, as well as the use of potential archaeological remains for tourism. Hal ini karena jarang ditemukannya tinggalan arkeologis berupa taman dari masa tersebut. Namun, prasasti Jurungan berangka tahun 798 Saka (876 Masehi) membuktikan bahwa ada taman dari abad ke-9 Masehi dengan status sA®ma bagi prA¢sA¢da di Gunung Hyang. Penelitian ini penting dilakukan untuk memahami karakterisktik taman di Jawa pada abad ke-9 Masehi dan hubungan taman sA®ma dengan prA¢sA¢da. Selain itu, tujuan penelitian ini adalah melengkapi pengetahuan mengenai lanskap taman pada wilayah Mataram Hindu abad ke-9 Masehi dan merekonstruksi budaya masyarakat Jawa pada masa itu. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan sejarah, dan dilakukan dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui studi pustaka dari buku-buku, laporan penelitian, artikel ilmiah, dan naskah kesastraan. Pembacaan prasasti Jurungan dilakukan secara langsung dan terhadap hasil alih aksara prasasti. Analisis prasasti didukung pula oleh pengamatan relief pada Candi Borobudur dan Prambanan, serta pengamatan lanskap taman Keraton Boko. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa taman sA®ma pada prasasti Jurungan memiliki unsur penting berupa tanaman dan air yang mendukung kelangsungan prA¢sA¢da sebagai bangunan suci di Gunung Hyang. Lebih lanjut, disebutkan pula tentang pemenuhan kebutuhan akan buah atau bunga persembahan untuk prA¢sA¢da ataupun kebutuhan ekonomi masyarakat sekitar yang mengelola prA¢sA¢da. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa taman sA®ma, prA¢sA¢da, dan Gunung Hyang secara konseptual merupakan lanskap sakral yang dibentuk menjadi satu kesatuan sebagai perwujudan konsep kosmologi masyarakat Hindu di Jawa pada abad ke-9 Masehi. Little researches on gardens from the ninth century Hindu-Buddhist period are conducted due to the few discoveries of archaeological remains that indicate gardens. However, the Jurungan inscription dated 798 Saka (876 CE) proves the existence of a garden from the ninth century with a status of sA®ma for a prA¢sA¢da on Gunung Hyang. The significance of this research is to understand the characteristics of a garden in Java during the ninth century and the relationship between a sA®ma garden and prA¢sA¢da. Additionally, the objective of this study is to obtain a comprehensive knowledge of a garden landscape in the ninth century Hindu Mataram region and reconstruct the culture of the Javanese society then. This study uses a historical approach, and data collection is carried out by literature studies from books, research reports, scientific articles, and literary texts. Reading the Jurungan inscription was conducted both from the script and its transliteration. The inscription analysis was also supported by a study of the reliefs on the temples Borobudur and Prambanan, as well as landscape observations of the Boko palace garden. Tujuan penelitian ini akan enguraikan secara terperinci keberadaan batimung Banjar dan Dayak Meratus sebagai warisan tradisi nenek moyang yang telah sejak lama di Kalimantan Selatan yang berdampingan dengan budaya modern. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini ialah metode deskriptif kualitatif. Metode deskriptif ialah suatu metode untuk memperoleh informasi tentang tata cara pengobatan batimung dalam masyarakat Banjar. Hasil penelitian memberi gambaran tentang pengobatan batimung dalam masyarakat Banjar dan Dayak Meratus di Kalimantan Selatan. The healing tradition of Batimung in the communities of Banjar and Dayak Meratus is recognised as part of a wedding ceremony, but only few knows that this tradition is benefitted also to cure hepatitis. Thus, a research question arises regarding the continuous existence of batimung in the communities of Banjar and Dayak Meratus today. The objective of this research was to understand how batimung healing tradition coexist with modern culture. This was a descriptive-qualitative research which emphasised on observation and description on the procedure of batimung as a healing therapy. Dalam undang-undang Republik Indonesia Nomor 11 Tahun 2010 tentang Cagar Budaya, bangunan- bangunan tersebut dapat dikategorikan sebagai Bangunan Cagar Budaya jika telah melalui proses pendaftaran atau register, penilaian hingga ditetapkan sesuai dengan peringkatnya. Penilaian cagar budaya khususnya dari jenis bangunan dilakukan dalam rangka penyusunan rekomendasi untuk penetapan. Bentuk penilaian tersebut belum banyak diketahui mekanismenya. Penelitian ini melakukan cara penilaian dengan menggunakan metode analisis kuantitatif berjenjang dengan faktor pembobot. Proses perolehan hasil akhir dari penilaian dilakukan dengan menggunakan algoritma matematika, sehingga proses penilaiandapat terlihat dalam satu rangkaian proses yang berurutan dan sistematis. Hasil penilaian dengan model penilaian tersebut digunakan untuk memperoleh nilai akhir bagi sebuah bangunan dalam bentuk kelas rekomendasi untuk penetapan bangunan cagar budaya. Dalam penelitian ini diajukan empat kelas, yaitu kelas bangunan dengan tidak atau kurang direkomendasikan, kelas bangunan direkomendasikan dengan level cukup, kelas bangunan direkomendasikan dengan level kuat, dan kelas bangunan yang direkomendasikan dengan level mendesak. Keempat level ini berkaitan erat dengan skala prioritas dalam rangkaian kegiatan penetapan sebagai bangunan cagar budaya. Peneitian ini menghasilkan nilai yang bersifat kuantitatif dan terukur secara ilmiah dan memberikan dinamika positif dalam cara penilaian bangunan untuk penetapan cagar budaya. Cultural heritage buildings in Surakarta are historical relics from Indonesian colonial period. The law number 11, year 2010 of the Republic of Indonesia concerning and cultural archaelogical preservation and management classifiesthese buildings as Cultural Heritage Building, after passing through multiple registration process. The assessment of cultural heritage nomination, especially based on types of building, is carried out in the framework of preparing recommendations for its establishment. Unfortunately, the assesment mechanism has not been widely understood. This study carried out the evaluation using a tiered quantitative analysis method with a weighing factor. The process to obtain final assessment results is achieved by using a mathematical algorithm. The assessment process can be visually observed in sequential and systematic processes. By using this method, the assesment results a formula that can be used to obtain the final value for a building which classified into several recommendations for the establishment of a cultural heritage building. The study claims that at least here are four classes of recommendation levels; building classes with no or less recommended, recommended building classes with sufficient levels; recommended building classes with strong levels; and recommended building classes with urgent levels. Sebagian bangunan dari Sumur Putaran rusak oleh alam dan agen manusia, dan batu bata yang tersingkap menunjukkan berbagai jenis pemasangan batu bata. Korelasi antara jenis pemasangan batu bata dan arsitekturnya menarik dan belum diteliti. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi fungsi dari berbagai jenis pemasangan batu bata di Sumur Putaran dan hubungannya dengan konstruksi tambang batu bara bawah tanah. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan penalaran induktif dan pendekatan deskriptif-komparatif. Data primer yang dikumpulkan dari lapangan dijelaskan dan dibandingkan dengan data sekunder dari studi literatur. Kesimpulannya adalah bahwa teknik pemasangan batu bata dari Oranje Nassau memiliki fungsi struktural dan visual. Sumur Putaran is a local term of a brick building, a part of the Oranje Nassau coal mine construction, in Pengaron Village. Sumur Putaran is partially damaged by nature and human agent, and bricks are exposed showing different types of brick installation. The correlation between the types of brick installation and its architecture is intriguing and has not been studied. This research aims to identify the function of different types of brick installation at Sumur Putaran and their relationship with the underground coal mine construction. This research used qualitative method with inductive reasoning and comparative-descriptive approach. The primary data collected from the field was described and compared with secondary data from literature studies. Di sepanjang aliran sungai dan rawa ini terdapat permukiman warga dengan segala aktivitas yang berhubungan dengan budaya sungai. Aktivitas budaya sungai yang dilakukan warga di kedua kawasan ini tercermin dalam leksikon-leksikon yang terdapat dalam bahasa mereka.Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan leksikon pengungkap karakteristik budaya sungai masyarakat Banjarmasin dan Nagara, dan mendeskripsikan karakteristik budaya sungai pada masyarakat Banjarmasin dan Nagara berdasarkan leksikon. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dari data umum kedua wilayah dan analisis data leksikon diketahui terdapat leksikon-leksikon yang mengungkapkan karakteristik budaya sungai masyarakat Banjarmasin dan Nagara. Selanjutnya diketahui juga unsur karakteristik yang terdapat pada leksikon tersebut meliputi bahasa, mata pencaharian, religi, pengetahuan dan teknologi, dan sistem sosial kemasyarakatan. Kesimpulan dari hasil penelitian ini yaitu makna yang terdapat pada leksikon-leksikon bahasa masyarakat Banjarmasin dan Nagara mencerminkan karakteristik kebudayaan mereka sebagai suku Banjar yang tidak jauh berbeda karena berhubungan dengan cara hidup di pemukiman atas sungai atau rawa. Banjarmasin and Nagara consist of rivers and swamps. Along these areas there are residential communities with all activities related to river culture. The culturalriver activities of the two regions are reflected in the lexicons contained in their language. This research aim are to describe the lexicons which express the characteristics of river culture of the people, and to depict the cultural river characteristcs of the people based on the lexicons. The method used is descriptive qualitative. Based on the general data of both regions and lexicon data analysis, many of lexicons have revealed the characteristics of river culture of both people, Banjarmasin and Nagara. Furthermore, the characteristics on lexicon are found in language, livelihood, religion, knowledge and technology, and social systems.
