The studied Gd/sub 3/(Ga/sub 2/Sc)/sub 5/O/sub 12/:Er films were grown using the method of liquid-phase epitaxy on pure Gd/sub 3/Ga/sub 5/O/sub 12/ substrates. The employed films, which differed in the number of Gd/sup 3+/ ions, are replaced by Er/sup 3+/ ions. The Sc/sup 3+/ ions were used to compensate the size of the elementary crystal cell of the film and to bring the size of the elementary cell in correspondence with the size of the substrate. An influence in studied of electromagnetic radiation on epitaxial structure growing processes. High power xenon lamp, pulse and continuous lasers were used in experiments on CN:Er films growing. The model of processes on the crystallization surface is considered and the necessity to take defects kinetics into account when analyzing photostimulated epitaxy is shown. The numerical-analytical method decision of this problem solution has been suggested. It is based on the idea of the partial inversion of diffraction problem operator by the following way: the simple part of the semi-infinite obstacle for which the scattering operator is known is extracted. For various classes of the objects their Mueller matrices consist of various number of independent elements. The Muller matrix of deterministic class consists of seven independent elements (parameters or freedom degrees) and can be derived from 2/spl times/2 Jones matrix with complex elements transforming electric field components. This matrix has been called pure Mueller or Mueller-Jones matrix. The existence of the only seven independent elements imposes some constraints on inner structure of Mueller-Jones matrix. Trapping the bare fiber within a cylindrical ferrule and polishing the end of the fiber-ferrule combination terminate most connectors. The performance of the connectors is determined by a combination of the factors including the fiber size and core centration, the ferrule size, centration and axiality, and the methods used in polishing the fiber during termination. Polishing process forms the end face angle. It is well known, that the polishing technology has influence on return loss. Back reflection or return loss is the amount of light reflected back towards the source relation to the forward signal. Reflection back into a laser cavity can cause result in output fluctuations, mode hopping and a damaged laser. During the operating time of the CO laser there is a reaction on the catalyst of widely accessible gases: C/sub 3/H/sub 8/ and CO/sub 2/, with subsequent mix by air (up to 90%). The ecological safety of work of the laser is provided at the expense of CO conversion molecules in CO/sub 2/ on the catalyst before emission in an atmosphere. The mathematical model includes an account of process of mixing and reaction of CO/sub 2/ to C/sub 3/H/sub 8/, the mixture with air in the nozzle block, excitation in RF discharge, and processes of conversion CO molecules in CO/sub 2/. The model allows one to account for the parameters and optimisation of the technological laser and RF-discharge in a supersonic flow. That is the distance to the place of heterogeneity (damage) in the fibre and also attenuation of optical radiation in optical fibres. The main working principle of an optical time domain reflectometer is determination of optical fibre characteristics by the measured back distance.
