Recently attention has been focused on the investigation of nonparaxial optical beams and sub-wavelength spatial solitons that are not satisfied by using a nonlinear Scrodinger's approach. Such solitons can be used for creation of new optical switching devices. The theory of ultra-narrow spatial solitons can be built on Maxwell's equations in a quadratically nonlinear medium. We have investigated nonparaxial narrow quadratic solitons taking into account the effect of nonlinearly induced diffraction, an effect directly stemming from Maxwell's equations and omitted in the paraxial case of wide beams. We have obtained the simple equations for soliton profile envelopes in the planar case and detected the saturation effect limiting the available soliton width from below. This limit is in the order of the linear wavelength and depends on the type of the nonlinear interaction between first and second harmonic waves. We have also found analytically the exact expressions for the fundamental limit of the soliton width and the auto-model profiles of extremely narrow solitons as well as the numeric solutions.","PeriodicalId":257420,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of LFNM'2001. 3rd International Workshop on Laser and Fiber-Optical Networks Modeling (Cat. There is need to fulfill the following basic requirement in an optical micro-interferometer scheme: the intensity of light flux from standard mirror is approximately equal to light flux intensity from surface of object, because that condition is necessary for interference traces observation. The MII-4 micro-interferometer is intended for end face roughness with greater coefficient of reflection (e.g. metal surfaces).","PeriodicalId":257420,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of LFNM'2001. 3rd International Workshop on Laser and Fiber-Optical Networks Modeling (Cat. It is shown that such laser generates in the general case a train of pulses of picosecond duration, but under nonhigh excess of pumping threshold-a single ultrashort pulse. The mechanism of generation of USP by the laser with static DFB is due to self-gain-switching, which realized by the generated radiation. In work was searched influence of depth of changing of refraction factor of static DFB and excitement level on generation characteristics of pulses of radiation.","PeriodicalId":257420,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of LFNM'2001. 3rd International Workshop on Laser and Fiber-Optical Networks Modeling (Cat. Mathematical modeling has appeared to be very useful in the development of measuring devices. Computers are also used for analysis of signals in these cases. This paper proves that mathematical modeling and computer analysis of signals allows one to measure the fast changes of optical radiation power of a thermal receiver, which has a large time constant. The receiver of radiation is a graphite plate with a width of 5 mm. The thermocouples are located on the back surface of the plate. The time constant of the receiver was about 300 sec.","PeriodicalId":257420,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of LFNM'2001. 3rd International Workshop on Laser and Fiber-Optical Networks Modeling (Cat.
