They help the teachers in communicating to learners. As students differ in their responses to IMs, it is the responsibility of the teacher to use and select the most appropriate instructional materials that will promote learning among students. Hence, the researcher conducted this study to determine the IMs used by the faculty members of Batangas State University. The researcher used the descriptive method of research and utilized survey and interview to gather data from the 84 faculty members. Findings revealed that many were using textbooks, PowerPoint presentation, workbooks, manuals and modules while few were using magazines, news articles, monograph and audio/ video. Problems encountered in the utilization of IMs included unavailability, inadequacy and quality of materials and the faculty’s inadequate background on the manipulation of the material. Only 31 developed IMs, but many have plans of developing one. These lead to the conclusions that faculty-respondents mainly used traditional IMs and that availability and quality influenced their utilization. The study recommends that support for the utilization of IMs should be enhanced and accessibility plan be established to promote timely adoption and utilization of IMs. Keywords - Educational technology, education, instructional materials, utilization, descriptive-survey, Philippines","PeriodicalId":256981,"journal":{"name":"IAMURE: International Journal of Multidisciplinary Research","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-01-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114783309","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nabuswang is an island of agri–fishing community with a mangrovesanctuary. Though endowed with natural resources, residents still live in poverty.Thus, a study was conducted to find out how the residents, confronted withpoor fish catch and natural and man-made hazards, survived. The research designwas descriptive-analytic utilizing researcher-made questionnaires administeredrandomly to fisherfolks. The instrument was formulated based on thepreliminary interview among fisherfolks. Responses to the survey questionnaireswere validated through focus group discussion. The data show that poverty wasdue to poor fish catch despite the effort spent in raising their catch and wasinfluenced by human-made hazards, more than nature. To cope, saving for therainy days was on top of their list, but they ended up saving nothing. Some resorted to money lending, dietary adaptations, and alternative health care. Concretely, Illegal fishing practices, pollution, climate change resulted to loss offish habitat and depletion of fishing grounds. In conclusion, Fishery Laws seemnot fully implemented. This study describes the inevitable phenomena of actual classroom scenarios of feedbacks as an inseparable part of language learning among the multi-dialectal learners of Quirino Province, Philippines. In gathering the necessary data, the researcher used questionnaires and interviews among the respondents. Findings reveal that the respondents somewhat preferred the explicit and metalinguistic corrective feedbacks while they moderately preferred recast and clarification request. Results also reveal that along explicit corrective feedback, there exist significant differences when they are grouped by ethnicity and courses. The overall responses of the respondents, along with the types of corrective feedbacks, show that all the students wanted to be corrected but in different ways. It is important for teachers to know the learners’ preferences for corrective feedback to maximize their potential effects on the latter’s academic performances. Although recent pedagogical studies have investigated students’ preferences on corrective feedback, this paper reveals additional evidences for feedbacks and their facilitative roles in grammar learning among bilingual learners. Learning Boolean algebra and digital logic are somehow difficult for students to grasp especially because these disciplines highly require them of critical thinking and logical understanding. To address this need, the researchers designed and developed a mobile application for Android-enabled phones that will assist the teacher in explaining the concepts of Boolean expressions to students. Developmental-experimental designs of research were used. The data gathered from the respondents were analyzed and utilized in the application development where it accepts Boolean expressions and displays the generated simplified expression, truth table, Karnaugh map, and logic circuit diagrams. The application does not require a network connection and runs only on the Android operating system. The researchers used the following tools in the development of the mobile application: Eclipse as editor, Android Software Development Kit (SDK) as a development tool, and SQLite as its database. The mobile application was tested, evaluated, and used by the respondents. Respondents agreed that the application is better than the manual procedures in simplifying Boolean expressions. Thus, this Android-based application is highly recommended as a tool for teaching Boolean expressions. Furthermore, the study sought to recommend a model design that may lead to instrument enrichment through virtual learning network. To evaluate the learning experiences of students from ODF, a descriptive correlational design was used. It was conducted using a social networking discussion forum that was assessed as the available and commonly used site. Students were given a week to answer open-ended questions/topics that were posted in the ODF and the mechanics was explained in a live classroom. A total of 183 functional responses were collected for the study. Respondents were not aware that they are under a study to encourage them to work at their pace and interest. After the ODF, the instructor administered the survey questionnaire, and interviews were also made as part of course evaluation. The result revealed that only three variables specifically academic self-efficacy, reflective thinking, and motivation in participating in ODF, tends to predict perceived learning experiences. The proposed model was created to support several discussion forums by several moderator accounts. The model may support interconnection among moderators, contributors and registered users.
