However, the lack of systematic awareness and consciousness puts it at risk of being lost or forgotten. Many activities and campaigns had been conducted but they were scattered and unorganized. On the other hand, there were some student- led initiatives that played a promising try in promoting cultural heritage and in raising awareness. This study aims to explore the role of student-led initiatives in raising awareness of cultural heritage, using the case of “Meshkat”, a student-based initiative conducted at the University of Jordan. The study employed a qualitative research approach, and data were collected through interviews, discussions, and observation of Meshkat's activities. The results indicate that this initiative provides an effective platform for students to engage in volunteer work and gain practical experience. Additionally, student-led initiatives offer an opportunity for collaboration between students, local communities, and experts in cultural heritage preservation. Therefore, this study recommends promoting and supporting similar initiatives in other communities.","PeriodicalId":254028,"journal":{"name":"Events and Tourism Review","volume":"21 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139231692","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study looks at the most popular types of fundraising events, as well as thank you events that are held for donors, and attempt to better understand how they differ from other events. Additionally, this study examines several popular fundraising events to see how they were promoted by analyzing their social media and websites in particular. The results of the study indicate that nonprofit events are very unique to other events in their purpose, as well as how they are marketed to potential attendees. Nonprofit event marketing must be much deeper than the marketing of other events. Promotion must motivate attendance by creating an emotional appeal that deeply connects potential attendees to an organization and its cause. Only when this connection is formed can a support-raising event be successful in raising long-term support to make a positive impact.","PeriodicalId":254028,"journal":{"name":"Events and Tourism Review","volume":"10 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139230546","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the effect of sports gambling on young adults have not been extensively investigated, even if it is expected that participating in sports gambling could influence young adults' attitudes and behaviors. Therefore, the purposes of the current study were a) to investigate the effects of sports gambling on young adults’ attitudes and behaviors and b) to evaluate the quality of life of young adults in Hong Kong. A total of 160 young adults (80 sports gamblers and 80 non-gamblers) in Hong Kong participated in the survey. The results of t-tests revealed the differences between sports gamblers and non-gamblers. Specifically, non-gamblers showed higher levels of sports fan identification, quality of life, BIRGing behaviors, prosocial behaviors, performance tolerance, and purchasing intention than sports gamblers, whereas sports gamblers had higher level of positive affect on sports spectating. Furthermore, the results of the multiple regressions indicated that sports fan identification and positive affect influenced non-gamblers’ purchasing intention, while only sports fan identification had an impact on sports gamblers’ purchasing intention. These results provided an empirical conformation of the effect of sports gambling on sports fan attitudes and behaviors, which contribute to our understanding of the destructive impact of sports gambling on sports fan experience.","PeriodicalId":254028,"journal":{"name":"Events and Tourism Review","volume":"27 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139233465","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study seeks to answer the following two research questions: a) In what ways can these small business entrepreneurs be considered social entrepreneurs, and b) how do these small business entrepreneurs overcome existing barriers to contribute to the revitalization of their neighborhoods? The study uses an exploratory research design involving an online structured questionnaire and informal conversations with study participants. Selected participants met three criteria: a) geographic sampling, b) institutional context, and c) different business typologies. Findings from the survey and the informal conversations point to the daily struggles many small businesses face as they struggle to survive, including access to financial and human capital, generating low revenue, and operating with few employees. Using eudaimonia and hedonia as a measure for well-being, three objectives were investigated; 1) Do live arts and music events meet attendees eudemonic and hedonic needs? 2) Do virtual arts and music events meet attendees eudemonic and hedonic needs? 3) How do live and virtual music and art events compare in meeting attendees eudemonic and hedonic needs? The study focused on attendee’s experiences having attended both live and virtual events. Using nine semi-structured interviews this research found that live music and art events offer more eudemonic and hedonic impacts for the attendee than virtual events. Additionally, participants at live events experienced hedonia, although it was unclear whether all participants experienced eudaimonia, achieving overall well-being. Participants of virtual events, on the other hand felt that the social aspects and atmosphere were lacking, while a few of the participants did not achieve any eudemonic or hedonic impacts on their well-being.\u0000 ","PeriodicalId":254028,"journal":{"name":"Events and Tourism Review","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126579611","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It focuses on Mexico City and its global competitiveness as an accessible tourism destination. A review of recent literature and internet sources contributed to raising potential challenges involved to offer an accessible public transport service in Mexico City. Sources reviewed suggest that two modes of transportation -the subway and the bus rapid transit service- were well-equipped with accessible elements, particularly for users with mobility limitations. Yet, important challenges not strictly related to the supply of accessible infrastructure and services were found, such as a high level of insecurity, harassment, and discrimination. The model of public transport management in Mexico City seems to focus on affordable mass transportation, based on the utilitarian aspect of public transportation exclusively. The degree of satisfaction of users, including tourists, is overlooked. Appropriate development of accessible urban tourism, including the supply of public transport, would benefit Mexico City to pursue its competitiveness as an accessible tourism destination for older tourists.","PeriodicalId":254028,"journal":{"name":"Events and Tourism Review","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124606584","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A qualitative approach was adapted which was founded on the principles of positive psychology. Data were collected utilizing in-depth semi-structured interviews with student athletes via phone or video calls. Participants were recruited through purposive and convenient sampling. To analyze data, thematic content analysis was conducted, and subjective wellbeing theory (Diener, 1984) was used as a guide for data analysis. Interviewees reported that during the competition trips they experience positive emotions such as fun, excitement, and happiness; as well as negative emotions such as stress, anxiety, and exhaustion. Incorporating tourist activities into teams’ travel itineraries and giving the athletes a voice in the travel decision making were found to be effective in enhancing athletes’ wellbeing.","PeriodicalId":254028,"journal":{"name":"Events and Tourism Review","volume":"268 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124349321","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
