The calculations of the uniform systems have been studied in the literature and it is suggested that the same equations are valid for the nonuniform systems too. However, the idea that calculations should be different has been the main motivation source for this study. In order to simplify the system and obtain the calculation simplicity, a prime coefficient distribution is suggested and the power equation is derived from the fundamental equations. As a result, it is concluded that the solution of the nonuniform systems is different from the uniform one and the general opinion in the literature should be reviewed.","PeriodicalId":253583,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Symposium on Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering (ISFEE)","volume":"22 4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129664143","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Photovoltaic modules have become a lot cheaper lately and this makes them extremely attractive for the transportation market. Integrating photovoltaics into transportation vehicles contributes to lower fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, as well as reduced costs. The main purpose of this paper consist in proposing a viable way of integrating photovoltaics into truck trailers, with respect to efficiency, cost reduction and optimization of the hole process. We propose a series of algorithms and control structures for the PV micro-grids, which can cope better with specific disturbances and offer better predictability. The PV grid is divided into subgroups of optimal dimensions chosen after applying certain strategies and an optimization algorithm.","PeriodicalId":253583,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Symposium on Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering (ISFEE)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125315797","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

After the floods from 2004, 2005 and 2014 uncontrolled deposits of sediments have been recorded or, in contrary, in other places zones with erosion and uncontrolled coastal slides. As an immediate effect zones with risk for the local population, and not only, have appeared. The present paper estimates the capacity of transport of riverbeds in real conditions, based on local measurements registered during and after the floods. The model is tested for the Bistrita River, an area well-known for repeated floods, sometimes even in the same year. Near the watercourse, there are many locations, with a high population. The time variation of the liquid and solid phases discharged are directly connected with the sediment transport. In these conditions, the fine fractions from the material of the bed sediments are removed from its surface. Some of them become \"armored\" with the coarser part of the bed sediment. It is proposed a mathematical model to simulate the effect of both types of deposits, to study the surface of an open channel, with a movable bed. The entire alluvial stream, until the base rock, is considered with a small thickness so the non-uniformity of the grain size in vertical distribution from riverbed could be neglected. The boundary conditions in flood analysis consist in the upstream hydrograph and the stationary downstream water level. Knowing the flow rate and the water levels by direct measurements, there is possible to establish the risks zones, far away from the river borders. The primary purpose of this study is to minimize the effects of such uncontrolled floods, to detemine the risk zones and to present a solution for increasing the safety near the riverbed. Finally, some conclusion and references are mentioned.","PeriodicalId":253583,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Symposium on Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering (ISFEE)","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130228244","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Theory about the voltage unbalance characterization and the unbalance factors is presented. Also, a description of the three-phase transformer selected for the research is showed, together with its model and the equivalent circuit used in the simulations. Clear linear trends are observed between the voltage and current unbalance factors of the primary and secondary side of the transformer, which allows to estimate the performance of the transformer under different voltage unbalance cases. A certain voltage unbalance in the primary side produces an unbalance of voltages and currents in the secondary side, regardless the load index of the transformer.","PeriodicalId":253583,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Symposium on Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering (ISFEE)","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127783253","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In fact, the nonsinusoidal regime represents the real operation mode of all the power systems, due mainly to distribution and consumers. Several parameters of power quality analysis are used by every national power system operator to impose specific standard limits and regulation which ensure optimal conditions of the electrical energy quality. Generally, all the limit values must be respected, even though they indirectly depend on one another. This paper proposes new relations between some parameters of power quality for the case of most common linear and inductive consumers, in order to unify the limits imposed on nonsinusoidal regime. Starting by the definition of relative values of voltage and current harmonics a new nonlinear dependence between the power factor and the total harmonic distortion of voltage and current is established. A quantitative approach of the nonlinear function has been assessed by using Matlab tools. The results are compared and discussed to the measured data for a large industrial consumer in two cases: with and without filters for power factor correction.","PeriodicalId":253583,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Symposium on Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering (ISFEE)","volume":"233 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121139657","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Our desire, sustained by many studies proving the benefits of \"learning-by-doing\" approach, is to motivate the students to rapidly acquire/recall knowledge and develop skills, mainly related to electronics and software design and implementation, having a clear image of what and why they are doing in order to complete every project stage. Moreover, we gave an equal importance to make the students learn and work with \"the big picture\" in mind – the system purpose, its functionality and related knowledge, all perceived and integrated as a whole, with the motivation to \"make it work\". Both devices can be connected to a PC using the common USB port. Two types of temperature sensors arrays are used: a junction diode array and a NTC resistor array. The breast temperature is sampled at a number of points with the sensor array. The data from the sensor array is used to obtain the difference and normalized fields which are then interpolated over the full breast surface. Disturbances in these fields could indicate the presence of a tumor. This interpolated field is part of the boundary condition for the Pennes equation and could be used to locate the tumor by solving an inverse temperature field problem.","PeriodicalId":253583,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Symposium on Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering (ISFEE)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131031668","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The wind power system (WPS) consists of a wind turbine, WT and a synchronous generator with permanent magnets, SGPM. The electrical power becomes a prescribed value, P*, of the control system, ensuring stable operation and maximum captured wind power. Operation at the maximum power point (MPP) at the optimal mechanical angular speed (MAS), ωOPTIM, in the conditions in those the wind speed decreases over time causes transition to an unstable area, MAS decreasing over time. For this reason, in present, at stable operation of the wind power system, the MAS values are higher than ωOPTIM. The prescribed power values, P*, are calculated in such a way that the WPS should operate stable and the captured wind power is as high as possible. To determine the prescribed power value, an algorithm is proposed that considers rapid wind speed variations. Measuring the basic functional sizes, MAS and the electric debt energy by the SGPM, we determine the dependence of optimal MAS to the wind speed and bring the WPS in the optimal operation area by modifying the generators load.","PeriodicalId":253583,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Symposium on Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering (ISFEE)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122206009","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
