To extract the numerical value of sparse inductance matrix effectively, a function of interpolating wavelet basis is introduced in the construction algorithm to compress the original dense matrix. Moreover, the increasing importance of inductive effect of interconnects is discussed and fundamental limitations for substrate noise on mixed-signal ICs caused by inductance coupling are pointed out. The numerical results show that the proposed model and its extraction algorithm have many advantages of run time and memory space, which make the flexible and fast simulation in the initial stage of design possible. It is also shown that the consideration of on-chip inductance and its accurate extraction help to characterize the substrate noise in frequency domain.","PeriodicalId":253574,"journal":{"name":"2005 Asia-Pacific Microwave Conference Proceedings","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-12-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126848289","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The AI-EBG structure has shown excellent noise suppression in realistic mixed-signal systems. However, there is no efficient way to get dispersion diagram of the AI-EBG structure for a fast design process. Transmission line network (TLN) method has been applied to get the dispersion diagram of the AI-EBG structure for the first time. The analytic equation for the dispersion diagram of the AI-EBG structure has been driven successfully. Compared with full-wave solvers, this method is extremely faster and produces quite accurate results.","PeriodicalId":253574,"journal":{"name":"2005 Asia-Pacific Microwave Conference Proceedings","volume":"393 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-12-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115993251","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An equivalent circuit model of a defected ground structure (DGS) is applied to study the characteristics of DGS. Parameters of the model are extracted from the EM simulation results by matching it to a one-pole low-pass filter. The lumped element values of the low-pass filter are optimized in circuit simulator by applying the circuit model of DGS. It is demonstrated that the filter can provide a sharp rate of attenuation in the stop-band as predicted. To further verify this method, a filter using DGS is fabricated measured. The comparison between simulation and measurement confirms the effectiveness of the proposed method.","PeriodicalId":253574,"journal":{"name":"2005 Asia-Pacific Microwave Conference Proceedings","volume":"88 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-12-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116038119","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, double half ring resonators working at 2.5GHz are proposed for bandpass filter applications. These resonators suppress multiple harmonics (2/sup nd/ and 3/sup rd/ harmonics) and provide size compactness with employing various physical configurations. Conventional circular ring resonators are modified to be transformed to new forms holding double half ring configurations. A closed loop split ring resonator and open loop double half ring resonators are compared to decrease the resonant frequency. Continuously, the open double half ring resonator adds open microstrip lines to additionally reduce the resonant frequency. Open loop structure provides flexible design and lower resonant frequency, in other words, reduction of real estate. 4 different simulated resonators are fabricated and measured. They show very high quality factor and suppression of multiple harmonics.","PeriodicalId":253574,"journal":{"name":"2005 Asia-Pacific Microwave Conference Proceedings","volume":"162 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-12-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123007091","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although an increasing number of system level CAD tools are available, they often do not include the effects of active device nonlinearities. This is due to the lack of accurate albeit simple active device models suited for system level simulations; however, power amplifiers are the key blocks that must be accounted for to describe nonlinear effects.
