Gathering radar raw data during flight trials is an essential but expensive way. In order to minimize such costs, synthetic radar raw data at an early system design stage is adopted widely. In this paper, an arbitrary waveform generator for synthetic aperture radar (SAR) test-bench application is presented. This waveform generator uses high speed multi-DSPs to accelerate the processing to obtain a near real-time baseband echo signal of SAR, and a DDS based frequency synthesizer is used to shift the signal to the operating band. By this way, a lot of system parameters and different target features is simulated and verified. Some result waveforms gained with data created for certain test scenarios by this generator are presented.","PeriodicalId":253574,"journal":{"name":"2005 Asia-Pacific Microwave Conference Proceedings","volume":"117 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-12-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122104018","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The discontinuity caused by the bonding wires would significantly affect the high-speed performance of the whole system as the speed of signal propagation is increasing. ITU-R recommends using statistics of a refractivity vertical gradient in the lowest 65 meters above the ground for estimation of multipath fading incidence on the terrestrial fixed wireless links. In this paper, results of the measurement of atmospheric refractivity in a lower 80 m layer of atmosphere are presented. Daily and monthly variability of refractivity and of its vertical gradient is shown. Refractivity statistics are compared with the quantiles obtained from the ITU-R world map.","PeriodicalId":253574,"journal":{"name":"2005 Asia-Pacific Microwave Conference Proceedings","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-12-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124479153","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The influence of the inset position and the air thickness between the two layers on input impedance, resonant frequency, and bandwidth is investigated by using software IE3D. The final results show that the inset depth is the primary factor affecting the matching and the air thickness mainly affects the bandwidth. The tested two-layer antenna works at 6.1 GHz with a bandwidth (S/sub 11/ /spl les/ -10dB) of about 11%, 8-dBi gain. The 3-dB beamwidth in the E-plane and H-plane is 57/spl deg/ and 70/spl deg/, respectively.","PeriodicalId":253574,"journal":{"name":"2005 Asia-Pacific Microwave Conference Proceedings","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-12-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124760648","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
