Additionally, psychometric properties of a new Multi-genre parasocial relationships inventory (MPRI) are tested. As a result of this test, the factor structure identical to the one in the pilot study has been reproduced, and is presented by two scales measuring the intensity of parasocial relationships – emotional symbiosis with a character and authority of a character. Both scales show adequate measures of internal reliability. Respondents with preferable videogame character have been sampled from videogaming communities, age ranging from 16 to 30 years old (M=20,34; SD=3,28). The group of videogame users aged from 16 to 19 years old showed significantly higher levels of dependent loneliness, emotional symbiosis and authority of a videogame character. Correlation analysis conducted independently for a 16—19 years old group showed no correlation between intensity of parasocial relationships and loneliness. Female videogame users showed significantly higher social anxiety, which was correlated to authority of a videogame character, compared to no correlation with parasocial relationship factors among male videogame users’ group. Future research could link these results to gender-specific features of interpersonal communication overall: the foundations for this hypothesis are discussed.","PeriodicalId":253464,"journal":{"name":"RSUH/RGGU Bulletin. The sample included students (N = 84) in the humanities aged 19 to 23 (M = 19.85; SD = 0.799). Among them, 89% are women (N = 75) and 11% are men (N = 9). The study was conducted online. Respondents were asked to fill out three questionnaires: the HEXACO-PI-R Questionnaire and the Dark Triad Short Questionnaire, adapted for the Russian population, and the Social Network Dependence Questionnaire. The results of the study allow drawing some conclusions about the differences and similarities between social media dependence and personality traits in Russia and abroad: in the Russian student sample, we did not find significant relationships between social media dependence and psychopathy, as reported by foreign sources; data on the relationship of Internet – addiction with consciousness are similar to foreign ones. According to the results of the study, dependence on social networks is widespread among Russian students in the humanities and has a negative relationship with the indicators of personality traits honesty / modesty, indifference to luxury, unpretentiousness, consciousness and organization of the HEXACO-PI-R Questionnaire and positive – with the total indicator of the Dark Triad.","PeriodicalId":253464,"journal":{"name":"RSUH/RGGU Bulletin. Significance of listening is hard to overvalue not only because it cannot be extracted from communication but mostly because it is listening that turns communication from one-way transmission of information into interaction i.e. into process of mutual influence. An experiment has been run in order to prove that listening is not just keeping silence necessary to digest information but activity that has impact on the speaker himself – the experiment showed that speaker’s awareness of listener’s availability changed the content of his speech. The article also analyses the specifics of verbal communication on the internet. It is assumed that internet capabilities provide opportunity for screen image idealization by shoving ready-made answers to what is usually controlled by users themselves and thus raise the comfort of virtual communication. Possibilities of “effective listening” based not only on the meaning of the statement spoken but also upon the value of the speaker’s personality are analyzed in the article. It is assumed that the image of the future and urban identity are indicators of the social well-being of representatives of different generations, their expectations, and fears. The study was conducted through an online survey, N=644. Residents of Moscow were 358 people, and residents of Surgut – were 285 people. The samples are divided into subgroups by generations: Baby Boomers, X, Y, and Z. Methods were used: “Scale of Identification with the City” (Lalli M.), the author’s modification of the “Semantic Differential” methodology, which includes 8 scales aimed at studying attitudes towards the future cities, associative technique. The results of the study showed that the Baby Boomer generation of both cities associates their future with the town to the greatest extent, and representatives of generation Z of both cities identify themselves with the city of residence less than other generations and less often than other generations associate their future with it. The high level of urban identity in Moscow, which citizens perceive (according to SD) in positive categories, also includes a positive perception of their future in the city (predictable, bright, hopeful, meaningful, eventful). The overall indicator of urban identity among the residents of Surgut is significantly lower. In the Surgut sample, negatively colored emotional categories are most closely associated with the category that reflects the lifestyle of city dwellers in the future (“Poor events”). However, despite the fundamental differences in living conditions in the two cities under consideration, the elements of the image of an ideal city turn out to be similar. Among Surgut residents, significant (in comparison with the expectations of Muscovites) were wishes related to environmental opportunities for children and youth, as well as requirements for comfort. Socio-psychological explanations are put forward for generational differences in the level of urban identity and the nature of the image of the future of the city, and prospects for further research are outlined.","PeriodicalId":253464,"journal":{"name":"RSUH/RGGU Bulletin. It is likely that this format will keep a foothold in future to some extent, so it is worth paying attention to the development of teaching methods for such new specific contexts. The author examines such teaching from the perspectives of the general theory of management and the psychology of learning, incorporating the computer- mediated one. The purpose of the article is to propose an approach to op- timizing “classroom work” in an emergency remote format. The problem of management in a remote foreign language session is considered as a problem of teacher’s understanding of the entire focuses of pedagogical attention and selective intervention on those that need to be adjusted at the moment. Based on the generalization of the author’s own observations, the experience of teaching a foreign language under remote conditions, as well as the analysis of modern scientific research literature and a questionnaire survey of students, a conclusion was made about the productivity of using the basic concepts and provisions of the management theory in relation to the novel nonconventional conditions of language teaching. The informative nature of a discourse will be insignificant if we only take into consideration the visible data of the text. The single viable way to carry out research on the mentality and behavior of the representatives of different cultures is to dig into the implication and the conceptual framework of the discourse. The author’s idea might be interpreted according to the background knowledge of the reader. Such an approach turns the text into a conglomerate of sense messages that reveal the power of the language and its inextricable link to the history, culture and civilization of the nation whose language the students learn. This notional “intervention” is akin to a chain reaction and the language develops into a means of power over a human being. In order to effectively teach students how to work with political discourse at the level of a contextually determined statement, the author has proposed an algorithm as a set of sequential operations aimed at solving the problem of analysing a political statement in the original language and adequate presentation of the author’s thoughts and intentions in a foreign language. The purpose of the study of political discourse is to justify the applicability of the proposed algorithm formulated on the basis of a systematic approach to working with political texts, as well as methods of discursive and comparative analysis, thematic and grammatical analysis. The article emphasizes the strategic role of an English teacher in teaching work with political discourse, the formation of students’ skills of contextual analysis and basic skills of translation for specific purposes. The proposed algorithm improves the effectiveness of working with a political text at the statement level, allowing students to develop a number of important professional skills based on understanding of significant aspects of political discourse and the fundamental importance of English grammar for adequate expression of the original author’s thoughts and intentions.","PeriodicalId":253464,"journal":{"name":"RSUH/RGGU Bulletin. Gradual but unfaltering rejection of the use of texts in teaching a foreign lan- guage can lead to lowering the level of its mastering. To understand the deep reasons for the existing situation in this sphere, it is necessary to look at the experts’ opinions of the new generation of young people. In spite of the quick changes in the world, education preserves its strict standards that establish the landmarks upon which the pedagogical and educa- tional processes are built. In the course of several last years the teachers of the department of foreign languages have participated in the preparation of English-language materials for the Olympiads, organized by the RSUH. The author analyzes strategies and tactics of work with big texts, selection of topics, used in these Olympiads, as well as the tasks, developed for operating such texts. These types of work with big amount of information lead us to the neces- sity of forming and developing in students such aspect of the communicative competence, as its text-forming component. Here we can speak about all the skills, technologies, tactics and strategies, that are used to facilitate the stu- dent’ work in the analysis of existing texts, creation of new texts, stimulation of class and home self-study in the spheres of creative scientific and artisticwork, for example, writing an artistic essay or a scientific article.
