The use of this device, which is hammered on to a tree, will sense the sound of the tree-cutting along with a vibration sensor, and alarm the concerned forest personnel who have a hub nearby. The ultra low power processor can last up to decades without battery replacement. The signal processing study was done using FFT and the frequency of the cutting mechanism was checked on with band pass filters and the danger signal was sent.","PeriodicalId":250687,"journal":{"name":"2013 Texas Instruments India Educators' Conference","volume":"70 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-04-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124564936","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

DALI is a concept that stands for an intelligent lighting management system that provides increased energy savings, easier installation and maintenance, and maximum control and retrofit flexibility -- in an entirely open standard. DALI is not a single product. It is an industry standard protocol that allows DALI-compliant components from different manufacturers (ballasts, control systems, sensors, controllers, switches, etc.) to be mixed and matched together seamlessly into complete systems. Wireless technology has been identified as a promising wiring and communication alternative for building systems. Reduced cost and complexity as well as increased flexibility on wiring are the primary advantages of wireless-enabled systems over their wired counterpart. We have interfaced a photo-sensor, temperature sensor and occupancy sensor to Master CC2531 USB Dongle. Using these sensor inputs we have send control signals to two slave micro controllers (CC2531 USB Dongles) to control the ballast in two different zones using Zig Bee Communication.","PeriodicalId":250687,"journal":{"name":"2013 Texas Instruments India Educators' Conference","volume":"121 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-04-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133660754","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The project aims at controlling devices by recognizing voice commands. This is achieved by developing a stand-alone, speaker-dependent speech recognition system. The system takes in speech samples as input. It converts them to corresponding control signals for operating various devices using TI's DSP Starter Kit (TMS320C6713). Controlling devices by one's speech provides a user-friendly interface. With accurate recognition algorithms and noise cancellation techniques, the system is made capable of operating devices in various environments.","PeriodicalId":250687,"journal":{"name":"2013 Texas Instruments India Educators' Conference","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-04-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114468021","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This potential when accumulated can cater the needs of the present day world illuminating many houses, running fans, charging the batteries and basic amenities. The circuit designed in this project can take any kind of energy sources such as physical pressure, air or water pressure, solar energy, vibrational energy etc., as input by using the appropriate transducers and give the electric power output that can be used for any power driven applications. It has also got wide future scope in the field of automobiles by harvesting the pressure energy in the tires and the impulse energy in the suspensions.","PeriodicalId":250687,"journal":{"name":"2013 Texas Instruments India Educators' Conference","volume":"45 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-04-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130156824","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Hemiparesis/ Hemiplegia is the common outcome of stroke, and as a result the survivor loses the control of skills that are necessary for activities of daily living (ADL). Planning of a rehabilitation treatment to regain the skills that the patient has lost is necessary to quantify the hand movements that he/she is able to perform. For the same, a sensorized glove has been designed using flex sensors, optical linear encoder (OLE) and a 3-axis accelerometer to measure finger flexion, wrist flexion/extension and forearm movement. A sensorized ball has also been devised to exercise the hand and is used to measure the grasp force. The complete system hardware and test software have been assembled and tested on two healthy individuals. The proposed system is able to detect finger flexion, forearm movement and grasp force. The user software has to be developed in future.","PeriodicalId":250687,"journal":{"name":"2013 Texas Instruments India Educators' Conference","volume":"70 5-6","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-04-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121003126","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The hardware is designed generically, by taking an example of a Zig Bee green radio. Our hardware completely eliminates the problem of idle listening encountered by most \"mote\" class hardware. Lower layers can assume node synchronization and thus transmit a minimum sized preamble. The circuit has three radios, interconnected with an antenna switch. We use simple but intelligent software to switch between the radios. Since our calculated energy savings when compared to designs without wake-up is significant, the system has the viability to be powered using harvested energy.","PeriodicalId":250687,"journal":{"name":"2013 Texas Instruments India Educators' Conference","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-04-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134444207","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Firstly, farmers are provided information about their standing crop by instrumenting their farm lands with soil moisture sensors and measuring the associated water stress. The platform is also equipped with market prices, seed availability, latest farming practices, of pest and disease attacks, rainfall etc. Thus, the idea is to improve the livelihood of these farmers by useful information and creating an advice system so as to reap maximum benefits in terms of yield/harvest. The data mule acquires data from several sources such as: (a) soil moisture probes installed in an individual's farmland, (b) Retrieving market price and other information from official websites etc. The mule delivers the information to the farmers' mobile phones via Wi-Fi, free of cost. The data mule is powered to work by harvesting energy from bicycle dynamo and solar panel. A mobile application is developed for Android and for Symbian phones as well. The phones support local audio language for ease of use.","PeriodicalId":250687,"journal":{"name":"2013 Texas Instruments India Educators' Conference","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-04-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114805737","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
