The weak signals obtained from the sensors are amplified, filtered, current to voltage converted and analog to digital converted. Our project aims at building a basic data communication system that can transmit analog and digital data. We have transmitted audio signal over a distance of 30-35 cm and we have transmitted a text file of size 14 bytes at a distance of 3 cm (between led and photo diode) from one laptop to another laptop with single led within a fraction of second. The number of persons going in and out of a room is counted using a counting mechanism. A home network is created using Zig bee transceivers. In every room a Zig bee transceiver known as end device is placed which is controlled by the Zig bee coordinator. The central computer has a GUI interface for the users to control the devices and also to monitor the status of the devices. For providing remote access to the user a GSM modem is interfaced with the central computer. The gap between electricity demand and supply is widening with every passing day. According to energy experts the electricity demand is rising by 8-10 percent per annum. If this tendency continues, the electricity demand would rise phenomenally. Hence, it is the need of the hour to take pragmatic measures not only by increasing power generation capacity but also reduction of demand through energy conservation. Energy conservation is the only short term measure which can fill the gap between demand and supply. We can save a lot of electricity through energy conservation which must be taken immediately to cope with the shortage of electricity Simple changes in people's behavior can quickly lead to significant energy savings, but such changes will only happen if the people are aware of the energy consumption that they have the power to control. Our project is another step in this regard. An IGBT based cascaded boost converter is used as an interface between the PV array and the DC shunt motor. The designed controller automatically varies the duty cycle of the boost converter depending upon the desired speed of the motor. Speed control is achieved with proportional integral control and the tuning parameters of the controller have been obtained for the best system response. A difference amplifier has been introduced in the conventional analog controller design to ensure that the motor does not go out of control. This recognition system is based on the vector quantization technique at the acoustical level. There is a need to find out a new method of speech recognition system in which it should have less number of computations in computing the Minimum Euclidean Distance. It is also required to discover a new algorithm for forming a codebook in order to achieve a good Success rate. The efficiency of the implementation of this system lies in choosing an efficient method for MFCC vector generation and VQ codebook generation. Detection of change in the infrared radiation intensity in an environment due to the movement of humans is the key component of our project. The Passive Infrared (PIR) sensor sends output high signal to MSP430 controller board whenever it detects a person in its range. The MSP430 controller then sends the corresponding signals to Lighting module and an alarm module (using Audio booster pack C5000). In some hostile conditions, a need arises to replicate the human arm movements by some sophisticated manipulator. This paper illustrates the controlling of the movements of such manipulator i.e. robotic arm in accordance with the movements of human arm using real time image processing. It is kind of master-slave control methodology where slave i.e. robotic arm synchronously replicates the motion of master i.e. human arm. The arm is tele-operated i.e. wirelessly operated. There will be no wired connection between human arm and the robotic arm, which allows us to operate it in the wide range of upto 30 m irrespective of any disturbance. This work aims at maximizing the use of solar energy by charging the battery as well as by supplying it to the loads when in excess. This system is implemented using two subsystems namely a charge controller and a Power Flow Management System(PMS). The charge controller is used to control the power flow from the PV module to the battery by operating in two modes. The Maximum Power Point Tracking mode(MPPT) extracts maximum power from PV panels and the Voltage Control Mode prevents overcharging of the battery. A 160W prototype of the charge controller is simulated in MATLAB/Simulink environment and is implemented in hardware. The operation of the controller in the two modes is verified and the relevant results are presented. A PV system implemented in houses involves various power sources and sinks. A control strategy is formulated in the PMS to balance the power flow among these elements using State of charge (SoC) of the battery as the criterion. The SoC is determined using coulometric measurements and is periodically recalibrated using Open Circuit Voltage method.
