With this PLL, the transmitter can generate four channels defined by IEEE 802.15.3c standard. The 60-GHz transmitter uses a sub-harmonic mixer in the second up-conversion stage. Output frequency range of the synthesizer is from 19.44 to 21.6 GHz in steps of 0.72 GHz. The RF frequency range of the transceiver is therefore three times of this. As a result, it provides four RF channels of 58.32–64.8 GHz in 2.16 GHz steps, which are compatible to IEEE 802.15.3c standard. The phase-locked loop frequency synthesizer is implanted in 90nm CMOS.","PeriodicalId":249652,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE International Conference on Ultra-Wideband","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132818387","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Based on measurements of the antenna impulse response the look-up table is created. For radar measurements three targets are placed in vertical plane, at different angles and distances in respect to the antenna. The signals received in sum and difference beam are processed and compared with the look-up table. The presented system maintains a high range resolution delivered by UWB-technology and precise estimation of angular direction of the target. The sensing is performed with simple data processing, where no additional mechanical or electrical scanning of the antenna beam is required.","PeriodicalId":249652,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE International Conference on Ultra-Wideband","volume":"96 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123180322","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We focus on small wideband antennas which can be arranged linear in an array, without consuming much space. In the past we have made time domain measurements in an office scenario and in an anechoic chamber at Bristol University. Within this paper we will present the inverse Fourier transformation of the measured data in Bristol. The double-balanced Gilbert-type configuration, current bleeding technique and resonating technique for tail capacitance are incorporated in the proposed mixer. A switched capacitance network (SCN) is used to control the resonant frequency of the tail capacitance for the group selection. Digitally controlled tail current source and bleeding current source are used to justify and compensate the loss of conversion gain due to the switched capacitance network while working at low frequency groups. These two techniques greatly enhance the conversion gain and noise performance in each group. Designed in a standard 0.18-µm CMOS technology, the mixer achieves a conversion gain of 17dB, a minimum noise figure of 7.31dB and an input IP3 of −6dBm over the 3.432GHz∼7.656GHz frequency range for UWB groups #1∼#3. It consumes a minimum 9mW from a 1.8V supply.","PeriodicalId":249652,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE International Conference on Ultra-Wideband","volume":"28 13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134549502","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The amplifier is processed in a 1.2 V 65nm CMOS technology and is comprised of two pseudo differential current-reuse shunt-feedback stages combined with active inductor loads. Measurement results of the bonded chip show a power gain of 10.2 dB and return losses of better than −10 dB for the input and output respectively. The measured output referred 1 dB compression point is above 3.9 dBm within the entire specified frequency range.
