A novel composite microstrip model of a phase-reversing short circuit coupling line with defected ground structure (DGS) is also proposed, and the related parameters of the circuit are given. Compared to the conventional transmission line, the novel structure has the characteristic of an advanced phase shift. Besides, it is also characterized by small, compact and easily realized size. Based on this, an X-band (8–12 GHz) 1:10 hybrid ring is proposed. The simulated and measured results show that the hybrid ring has perfect amplitude and phase characters.","PeriodicalId":249652,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE International Conference on Ultra-Wideband","volume":"428 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126079796","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we propose an improved NLMS (INLMS) based MMSE adaptive detection algorithm that can choose different step size adaptively and can solve the conflicting requirement of existing NLMS based algorithms. Simulation results show that bit error rate (BER) performance of the proposed algorithm is better than existing algorithms with the same training sequence length. Also when the training sequence length is longer than the steady state length of existing algorithms, the BER performance of the proposed algorithm can be improved by increasing the training sequence length which can't be achieved by existing algorithms.","PeriodicalId":249652,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE International Conference on Ultra-Wideband","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126615804","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Maximum achievable information rates of SC systems over ultra wideband (UWB) dense multi-path channels unveil that residual inter-symbol interference (ISI) of FDE results in significant capacity loss. Therefore, we mainly focus on low complexity processing techniques of FDE to reduce residual ISI caused by spectral nulls. For cases of high spectrum efficiency, a time-frequency interleaved (TFI) structure of FDE to achieve high diversity by combining uncorrelated spectral components is proposed. For cases of low spectrum efficiency, a combination of FDE and M-ary bi-orthogonal keying (MBOK) is proposed to eliminate the residual ISI and further improve power efficiency under the measure of Eb/N0.","PeriodicalId":249652,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE International Conference on Ultra-Wideband","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128965962","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For comparison, the time-delay lines using the right-handed transmission line (RH TL) and periodic microstrip line (PML) are also designed, optimized and fabricated. In this study, the principle of the microwave imaging is presented in detail. The tumor detection in a two dimensional breast model with dispersive characteristic properties of the breast organisms is numerically carried out. The PML ABC developed in our computing system meets the criterion of the correct boundary setting very well. The reconstructed breast image shows that a 6 mm tumor which is assumed embedded in the breast is identified successfully by the antenna array made up of 3 transmitters and 4 receivers.","PeriodicalId":249652,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE International Conference on Ultra-Wideband","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129170816","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
