Nanotechnology is one of the most important tools in modern agriculture. Nano agriculture involves the use of n a o sized particles with unique properties (increas d uptake by plants as they are small in size and have a high rate of p enetration through plant cell membrane) to boost cr op productivity. In the present study, an attempt was made to study the effect of nano zinc oxide particle (ZnO NPs) for im proving yield and Zn content in tomato plant. Initially, seed priming concentration was standardized in vitro using ZnO NPs (400ppm) and granular zinc sulphate (ZnSO4) (800ppm). Further, standardized seed priming conc e trations with different combinations of treatment such as seed priming, seed priming+ fo liar spray and flour spray was studied under field condition to evaluate their effect on biomass and Zn accumulation The obtained results based on the physiological and yield parameters showed that the usage of ZnO NPs fertilize rs through any of the methods of application has a significant positive effect, compared to zinc sulphate. ICP-OES analysis of plant digested material revealed that the uptake of ZnO NPs is higher than the granular ZnSO 4. The present study addresses the potential of nano scale particles of plant system, opening an avenue for its potential use as future “ nano fertilizers”. This nanotechnology is one of the t chnologies where, a lot of scope exists to improve the plant n u rition.","PeriodicalId":249001,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Agricultural Science and Research","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132851633","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Both purposive and random sampling methods followed for drawing a sample of one hundred and twenty from Vizianagaram and Srikakulam districts. The findings of the study revealed that majority of the beneficiary farmers were of middle-aged (61.66%), illiterate (34.16 %) and farming as major occupation (45%), belonged small farmers to medium category (35 %), 10-25 years of experience (62.50%), medium economic status (83.33 %), no membership (76.66%), low extension contact (54.16%), medium level of scientific orientation (79.16%), low mass media exposure (50%) and medium level of innovativeness (70.83%). The Majority of the respondents have moderately favorable attitude (44.16%) towards Akps agro advisory service where the messages were partially understandable (41.66%), needful (83.33%), timely (53.33%), saves time& money (83.33%), increase in knowledge (79.16%), increase productivity (83.33%), information can be adoptable in field conditions (43.33%), AKPS is a boon to the farming community (60.83%). Occupation, annual income, social participation, scientific orientation, innovativeness, mass media exposure shows a significant relationship with the impact of AKPS Services whereas Age, education, landholding and farming experience were found non-significant. Hence, by enhancing relevance to the location-specific field conditions through proper infrastructural facilities through advanced technology even to the remote areas can cater desirable impact on the beneficiaries in order to expand the services.","PeriodicalId":249001,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Agricultural Science and Research","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128854075","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Though Agnihotra is a Vedic ritual, it has scientific background and therefore we studied the effects of Agnihotra and its ash on the environment and plant growth. Experiments were performed to study the effects of Agnihotra fumes on microbial load, SOx and NOx levels in ambient air and plant growth. Experiments were also conducted to check the effects of Agnihotra ash on seed germination, plant growth, plant genotoxicity and water purification. From the study it was observed that Agnihotra resulted in reduction in microbial load and SOx levels but slight increase in NOx levels in surrounding air. There was significant increase in seed germination and plant growth as well as genotoxicity was neutralized due to Agnihotra ash. Our results suggest that Agnihotra ash can be used to purify waste water. It can be seen that Agnihotra is beneficial for environment and agriculture.","PeriodicalId":249001,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Agricultural Science and Research","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125528188","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
