A newly discovered feature of this guide is its large degree of bandwidth control achievable with minimal tailoring of dielectric filling and cross sectional dimensions. In this paper we present full hybrid results obtained by means of a Transverse Resonance Diffraction analysis of the guide showing that a typical monomode bandwidth similar to ridge waveguide can be achieved. Unlike the ridge waveguide however, the IDG is an open structure that has already proven its usefulness as an antenna medium.","PeriodicalId":248044,"journal":{"name":"1990 20th European Microwave Conference","volume":"98 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1990-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133835467","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As typical examples we studied the effect of etching on the impedance of striplines and impedance calculations for the shielded wire configuration. Concerning commercial application inter-orbit and inter-satellite communication at MMW, around 60 GHz and medium data rates, are very attractive because of their intrinsic immunity versus earth interference and their feasibility, with limited accomodation constraints. In this sense advanced studies are in progress in order to evaluate a possible experimental mission about a 59/64 GHz communication payload, for demonstration of ISL/IOL application. Concerning low noise receivers basically three different approaches can be identified: low noise mixers, parametric amplifiers and transistor preamplifiers. This paper on the basis of impressive results obtained on a MMW mixer, demonstrates that at present resistive diode mixers do represent a reliable and performing solution for MMW low noise receivers, whereas transistor preamplifiers (commercially available HEMT's) still show some problems and paramps do appear difficult to implement (pump frequencies in excess of 150 GHz).","PeriodicalId":248044,"journal":{"name":"1990 20th European Microwave Conference","volume":"110 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1990-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123412545","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
