Energy storages depending upon their technologies can ensure stable and reliable operation, control, and resiliency of the MGs. Therefore, it is indispensable to study MGs operation using appropriate, cost effective and sustainable energy storages along with necessary control. In this paper, sizing, operation and control of a suitable energy storage method for a case study MG system is presented. Due to the excellent geographical location of the case study MG system, a pumped hydro storage is selected; and the sizing of this storage unit is provided using mathematical models that is based on the system physical dimension. In addition, governor-excitation control based on power-frequency droop is designed for the pumped hydro storage unit. The controller performance is tested under various load changes in the MG and the results are presented to show the effectiveness of the designed controller. The performance of the MG frequency and the voltage at the MG bus under load disturbances indicate that the proposed pumped hydro storage is capable to maintain stable operation of the study MG system. Sizing outcomes and performance analysis of the designed controller have been carried out using MATLAB/Simulink software package.","PeriodicalId":247617,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Smart Grid and Clean Energy","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124682841","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Major simulation works include: steady-state power flow, fault current computation, transient stability analysis and the impact analysis on critical fault clearing time. Three connection methods, i.e., single-point, separatepoint and multi-point connection, are proposed, in which the single-point connection is divided into two voltage levels (161kV and 345kV). During the steady-state operation, simulation results indicate that the 345 kV single-point connection method demonstrates the best performance. In addition, the fault current from a wind farm is partially determined by its connection location. In terms of transient stability, when grid faults take place, the 161kV singlepoint connection method appears to report the smallest voltage drop as compared to other connection scenarios. Its amplitude of frequency disturbance, however, is the greatest of all connection scenarios. As for the analysis on critical fault clearing time, simulation results indicate that the critical fault clearing time in all connection cases is approximately two times greater than that required by the Taipower standard. Simulation results in this study can be expected to provide valuable guidelines for connecting offshore wind farms into the power systems in the future.","PeriodicalId":247617,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Smart Grid and Clean Energy","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126669316","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Considering the nature of power fluctuation in the DG systems, certain ESS are necessary in realizing optimal energy management and control of power systems. Of the known batteries, the all vanadium redox flow battery (VRFB) is a chemical energy storage device with many merits, e.g., high application flexibility, high efficiency, re-scalability, fast response, long life, and low maintenance requirements. In practice, the real-time estimation of battery’s state of charge (SOC) plays a very important role in operating smart grid with DG systems. In this paper, a novel SOC estimation method based on neural networks (NN) and the electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) analysis is proposed for the VRFB. Basic principles of VRFB and existing SOC estimation methods are firstly reviewed, followed by a set of test results demonstrating the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed NN based on-line detecting algorithm.","PeriodicalId":247617,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Smart Grid and Clean Energy","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127020311","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, aiming at the goal of active power balance, firstly, the paper derives the formula of susceptance compensation among phases based on the Wang's theorem. Next, correct the basic formula and verify it by simulation, considering engineering factors such as actual line impedance, power supply asymmetry and so on. Finally, summarize a relatively complete configuration method of three-phase unbalance compensation in transformer region. One of their goals consists to attract consumers to use green energy, to promote periods of low consumption and to dissuade customers from using their greedy devices during peak periods. The objective consists to determine the optimal suggested prices by the energy operator and the optimal demands of consumers. In this paper, we propose a theoretical model based on Stackelberg game to adjust prices of green energy. The proposed game is composed by a leader represented by the operator, and multiple followers represented by consumers. A Nash/Stackelberg equilibrium solution is found. Performance results confirm the uniqueness of Nash equilibrium and that a \"best reply\" dynamics for the repeated game converges to this equilibrium. The performance of MFCs has been extensively evaluated on laboratory scales [1]. Thus far, electron suppliers for MFCs have been primarily limited to those soluble and rapidly metabolized organic compounds such as simple carbohydrates [2], [3], small organic acids [3], [4], starch [5], and amino acids [6]. Plant fiber carbohydrates, including waste from agricultural and industrial activity, are the most abundant and renewable biomass on Earth [7]. MFCs offer an opportunity to treat fibrous waste, such as straw, to concurrently generate electricity without the competition of food by humans and animals. In contrast to the non-fiber substrates mentioned above, plant fiber is relatively insoluble and is a large polymer with a diverse and complex structure [8]. Consequently, the biodegradation of fiber, coupled with the electrical output from MFCs, requires the collaborative actions of various microorganisms. In the rumen of ruminants there resides numerous symbiotic microorganisms, consisting of bacteria, protozoa, and fungi. By processing various enzymes, the microorganisms efficiently degrade plant fiber under anaerobic conditions [9], [10] with volatile fatty acids, such as acetate, propionate and butyrate, being produced in the process. During microbial fermentation of organic matter in the rumen a reducing equivalent is produced, which is accompanied by the release and translocation of protons and electrons [11]. These products could theoretically be transformed into","PeriodicalId":247617,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Smart Grid and Clean Energy","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129295619","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore the effort to get renewable energy is increasingly encouraged. The most widely alternative energy used in Indonesia is biodiesel. Waste cooking oil is very potential to be utilized as raw material of biodiesel. Currently there are 3.75 million liters of waste cooking oil per year. Waste cooking oil when discharged into the body of water will form a layer so that oxygen is blocked into the water. Utilization of waste cooking oil into biodiesel will reduce the burden of environmental pollution by waste cooking oil. This paper proposes optimum conditions of biodiesel production from waste cooking oil using continuous stirred tank reactor with base catalyst. The research variables are reaction temperature, the mole ratio of waste cooking oil and methanol, and the amount of catalyst. This paper also evaluates the heating value of biodiesel produced from waste cooking oil.","PeriodicalId":247617,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Smart Grid and Clean Energy","volume":"306 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116340885","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This research employed the Cochran Method to set the sample size with a confidence level of 95%. The research went into the field to conduct the survey with questionnaires in 200 coconut farmers in Phetchaburi Province and Prachuap Khiri Khan Province where 0.07 million hectare of coconuts are grown, or 31% of all coconut plantations in Thailand. According to the main findings, raw materials in the form of leftover coconut biomass are composed of outer coat, middle fibrous cat, shell, upper core leave stalk, frond, bottom core leave stalk and empty fruit bunch. Upper core leave stalks are raw materials that have attracted the greatest interest in gathering as raw materials, whereas shell has attracted the least interest. The findings revealed that fruit peeling yards are the people best suited for compiling and buying raw materials. In terms of obstacles to gathering, material price uncertainty was found to be a major obstacle in gathering materials and was correlated opposite to interest in gathering upper core leave stalks with statistical significance.","PeriodicalId":247617,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Smart Grid and Clean Energy","volume":"73 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114860429","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
