The comparison is made from the perturbation signal design viewpoint, as this is an important step in system identification. Classes of broadband signals which are commonly used for identification are reviewed. The constraints of the three approaches in terms of the minimum input signal period and harmonic specifications are considered, along with discussion on computational complexity. Simulation examples are used to highlight the similarities and differences between these methods. The results have wide-ranging applications particularly in the area of control and communications.","PeriodicalId":247287,"journal":{"name":"2016 6th International Conference on Intelligent and Advanced Systems (ICIAS)","volume":"84 5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123122314","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Long Term Evolution-Advanced (LTE-A) is one of the mobile cellular technologies envisaged to provide good real-time multimedia experiences. However, real-time multimedia scheduling over the downlink LTE-A is a subject to various impairments. This paper adapts the well-known single-carrier Maximum-Largest Delay First (M-LWDF) algorithm into practical multi-carrier downlink LTE-A so as to minimize the detrimental effects of mobile cellular channel impairments on the real-time multimedia experiences. Simulation results demonstrated the efficacy of the adapted M-LWDF algorithm where it provides good experiences for more users and is more robust in case of outdated channel quality information report.","PeriodicalId":247287,"journal":{"name":"2016 6th International Conference on Intelligent and Advanced Systems (ICIAS)","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124790618","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Neuroimaging modalities such as fMRI, fNIRS, PET, and EEG provide functional connectivity estimation. MEG is the most recent trend in functional connectivity assessment research as it gives more accurate results. The magnetic signals are not disrupted by volume conduction, as in EEG. Besides a reasonable spatial resolution, it offers an extraordinary temporal resolution. However there is a need of a generalized model for default mode network connectivity using MEG. This paper presents a novel method for generating a generalized model and discusses significance of threshold levels in assessing synchronization of activity from various brain regions.","PeriodicalId":247287,"journal":{"name":"2016 6th International Conference on Intelligent and Advanced Systems (ICIAS)","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124842757","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A previously proposed tool, JetBench, is an Open Source multiprocessor benchmark that can be used to analyze the performance of a specific target platform. JetBench uses reaction-propulsion engine parameters and thermodynamical equations used in the NASA's EngineSim program, and emulates reaction-propulsion engine performance calculator. This application is platform independent, i.e., target specific libraries, hardware counters and timers are not required. This paper presents an updated and enhanced version of JetBench named as ‘XenoJetBench’. XenoJetBench is aimed to provide hard-real-time (HRT) performance evaluation of jet engine's thermodynamic parameters through the integration of a HRT framework on a real-time operating systems kernel; hence reducing the number of missed deadlines. In addition to that XenoJetBench is programmed to provide priority based thread scheduling of thermodynamic calculations. The results show that XenoJetBench gives no missed deadline for single and dual core processors and maximum number of missed deadlines are reduced to 9 for 16 cores.","PeriodicalId":247287,"journal":{"name":"2016 6th International Conference on Intelligent and Advanced Systems (ICIAS)","volume":"96 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124972776","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to achieve this objective, the human P100 visual evoked potentials (VEPs) responses are stimulated to different colors (red, green, blue, and yellow) with to levels of intensity, and twenty (20) healthy subjects with normal or corrected to normal vision are involved. The P100 responses are recorded using checkerboard stimulus and obtained signals are analyzed in terms of their peaks amplitude and latency (high amplitude with early peak latency indicate a high response). Results show a variation within the human P100 VEPs and most subjects record low responses, when blue color is presented, whilst yellow induces the highest. Moreover, the color intensity level plays a major role in motivating the human alertness as higher responses are recorded, when the intensity is increased. This study shows that a solid relation between chromatic stimulation and human alertness exists. Thus, using the proper color combination to design the road signs may enhance the driver alertness and insure a high level of awareness.","PeriodicalId":247287,"journal":{"name":"2016 6th International Conference on Intelligent and Advanced Systems (ICIAS)","volume":"39 3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123524313","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An iterative designed Bowtie shaped two pole planar bandpass filters utilizing triangular substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) resonators are presented. The triangular cavity design structure is presented; and the coupling of two cavities forms the first iteration of the bowtie shaped filter. The second iteration with reduced interresonator coupling area is also designed, simulated and fabricated for the center frequency of 7 GHz. The bandpass filter maintains high quality factor. The filter's responses reveal that along with miniaturization a better performance in terms of filter's insertion loss being better than 0.2 dB and return loss presented to be less than 30 dB is achieved.","PeriodicalId":247287,"journal":{"name":"2016 6th International Conference on Intelligent and Advanced Systems (ICIAS)","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114945074","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The problem has led many researchers to develop drivers monitoring systems which can send warning signals to the drivers. One of the active research area related to this issue involve in determining the drivers mental state based on drivers' facial expressions which is non-intrusive as compared to analysis of brain wave, heart rate, excessive body heat. Apart from that, research on facial expression is expanding to the dynamic analysis whereby the temporal data is taken into consideration to determine the state of mind. Lucas Kanade optical flow is one of the methods that is being used to detect motions of objects. The method is later being proven to be capable of detecting facial features motion. However, there are no specific research being done on sleepiness and eye region motion analysis using Lucas Kanade optical flow method. This paper presents an optical flow using the Lucas Kanade algorithm by measuring optical flow on eye region from video sequences. In this stage, the drivers face and eye region are detected using facial feature detector. The optical flow of the eyes region is then computed. Results show that the proposed method can be applied to extract significant temporal data from the eye region.","PeriodicalId":247287,"journal":{"name":"2016 6th International Conference on Intelligent and Advanced Systems (ICIAS)","volume":"51 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122749893","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The FPGA platform used for AES implementation is Xilinx Atlys Virtex-6. Time-to-market is one of the key factors for any design in FPGA and digital system designing industry. This time can be reduced considerably with HLL approach. The presented algorithm is designed on a HLL tool, namely Xilinx system generator. It is very user friendly despite giving detailed control in designing the required system design. For actual testing and hardware implementation of the algorithm, the HLL-tool generates a bit file that can be directly burnt on the FPGA. To get the implementation of design on hardware, the presented work uses a similar approach to directly map the System Generator described design on FPGA. The presented work emphasizes on optimization for less hardware utilization. The presented design uses approximately just one thousand slices and about half a century of BRAMs. The frequency at which the hardware can work is about 254.453 MHz. The results observed are very promising and the design outperforms previously reported results using HLL approach.","PeriodicalId":247287,"journal":{"name":"2016 6th International Conference on Intelligent and Advanced Systems (ICIAS)","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125317589","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this research, the optimum sizing of multiple-steps passive LC compensator for maximum power factor and minimum transmission loss for non-linear loads under time-varying conditions of background harmonic voltages, system impedance, and load impedance, is determined. The source harmonic voltages are varying in time independently of each other. The equivalent system impedance is given by varying the Thevenin impedance over a finite period. The functioning of the concerned LC filter is explained through a representative case study. Simulation results illustrate the viability of the suggested approach.","PeriodicalId":247287,"journal":{"name":"2016 6th International Conference on Intelligent and Advanced Systems (ICIAS)","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126334771","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Bilateral filter has been widely used to reduce noise due to its ability for smoothing an image and preserve the edges. It suffers a drawback of over smoothing that leads to discontinuity of blood vessels when applied to MRA image. Hessian-based filter is known to have the ability of enhancing the vessels and preserving the geometrical structure. This paper presents the vessel enhancement technique which combines bilateral and Hessian-based filters to exploit the advantages of them. The bilateral filtered images show that weighted bilateral filter can reduce more noise when comparing the peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) value. Then, Hessian-based filter is performed on several types of preprocessed images to compare the performance of this technique on different types of images. Our method shows a promising result in suppressing the noise that is enhanced by Hessian-based filter.","PeriodicalId":247287,"journal":{"name":"2016 6th International Conference on Intelligent and Advanced Systems (ICIAS)","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122444333","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
