Analytical approach introduced in late 1980s for a 2-level inverter is generalized for an arbitrary level count for a single-phase inverter. Though the obtained closed-form piece-wise analytical solutions assume (infinitely) large ratio of switching and fundamental frequencies and pure inductive load, they are practically very accurate for the ratios of (apparent) switching and fundamental frequencies larger than 25-30 and inductance dominated loads. Along with strict mathematical solutions suggested are simple accurate Bessel function approximation and hyperbolic average trend one. The formulas clearly reveal a single-phase PWM inverter current THD dependence on modulation index for an arbitrary voltage level count and are easily modified to cover grid-connected cases.","PeriodicalId":246203,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Electrical Drives and Power Electronics (EDPE)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122223175","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Such operating modes considerably influence both operation of the motor and operation of the technological mechanism on the whole, as there appears continuous oscillation of motor torque and speed. A possibility of compensation for stator windings asymmetry influence on dynamic and power characteristics of an electric drive with a vector control is demonstrated in the paper. Two structures of induction motor control systems are presented: a system of compensation for electromagnetic torque variable component and a system of compensation for consumed active power variable component. It is shown that the former system provides decrease of electromagnetic torque variable component causing additional vibrations of the motor. The latter system provides decrease of the variable component of consumed active power and thermal overload of motor separate phases.","PeriodicalId":246203,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Electrical Drives and Power Electronics (EDPE)","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129481973","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The first stage is a two interleaved stages boost converter with constant duty cycle and the second stage is a simple boost converter with variable duty cycle. The voltage controller of the second stage is P.I.D. DC to DC boost converter scheme was implemented in MULTISIM and numerically simulated for a load of 5 Ω. Due to the complexity of the converter scheme was chosen a lower output current to achieve a reasonable simulation time. It also stands for the version of the converter that the input current ripples are as lower as 4.16% of the average input current. This is an option that suits where a fuel cell is used as an energy source.","PeriodicalId":246203,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Electrical Drives and Power Electronics (EDPE)","volume":"77 4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134462886","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It allows a detection of moving objects in thermal images of low quality without imposing restrictions on the temperature and/or shape of the object. The main assumption required for good performance of the algorithm is that the transversal movement of the vehicle will not produce significant change in the optical flow of the static objects in the scene between two consecutive image frames. Our algorithm does not use any temperature thresholds and works well in urban environments detecting moving humans and other moving objects as well. To achieve this we use fusion of an inertial measurement unit (IMU) and a thermal camera. First we use IMU data to compensate for rotational movements of the thermal camera between two consecutive thermal images. Then we differentiate those images and filter the resulting image based on dense optical flow calculated using Farneback technique. After that moving objects are detected and further filtering is applied using random sampling consensus algorithm based on optical flow model.","PeriodicalId":246203,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Electrical Drives and Power Electronics (EDPE)","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115166985","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With the increase in number, distributed energy resources will predominantly determine the harmonic content, as the most common power quality indicator, of the grid current and voltages. Therefore, new converter control structures, capable of mitigating harmonics in the injected currents, and consequently voltages, have to be developed. One of the most common path taken for the power quality enhancement is the harmonic compensation. However, even if the significant improvement can be achieved, harmonic compensation can yield different results when paired with different modulation techniques. This paper analyzes the influence of converter modulation techniques on harmonic content of the injected current. Extensive simulation and experimental comparison between two of the most common techniques (sinus PWM and space vector modulation) was performed. MATLAB/Simulink model is used to obtain preliminary simulation results, and the experimental results were acquired using advanced laboratory prototype for testing distributed energy resources. Results show the difference between the two techniques, their advantages and disadvantages. In addition, the influence of the technique on power quality of the injected currents, and their interaction with harmonic compensation is presented.","PeriodicalId":246203,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Electrical Drives and Power Electronics (EDPE)","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120978133","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

E.g., prediction of solar irradiance components and air temperature is used to predict photovoltaic array power production, while air temperature and humidity are often used to predict building consumption during the day. Due to the computation complexity of meteorological models, new prediction sequence becomes available every 6 h at best, and often comes with a nearly 4 h lag. In this paper we develop a linear and nonlinear corrector models to improve weather forecast by using local measurements only. The main motivation behind this approach is to correct prediction sequence by using local measurements as they become available, i.e. prediction sequence is refreshed every 1 h instead of every 6 h. The proposed approach is validated on historical air temperature prediction sequences and actual measurements during 6 months period.","PeriodicalId":246203,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Electrical Drives and Power Electronics (EDPE)","volume":"135 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127030149","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
