The new technique converts all objective functions to a single objective function by deriving a single aggregate objective function using specified or selected weighting factors. Since the optimal PID controller parameters are dependent on the selected weighting factors, the weighting factors was also treated as dynamic optimizing parameters within the Particle Swarm Optimization as a dual optimization and global selection of PID controller optimal parameters as well as best set of weighting factors. The main advantage of such SoC based systems is cost and space effectiveness. Such systems are available for very cheap cost, which can be further used for some practical purposes with little effort, hence very practical solution for the applications such as protective relays. In this paper a “Universal” Motor Protection relay is proposed utilizing Soc based design approach. Furthermore, a digital low-pass FIR filter has also been implemented on the same chip, which overcomes the requirement of external filtering. According to Iran power market characteristics, in which participants should declare their maximum available energy to the ISO, Bertrand model is adopted for strategic bidding in the power market. Then, by transforming incomplete data that each GENCO has from others, into complete information using Bayesian Nash equilibrium, a proper method are proposed considering the power market characteristics, for maximization of GENCOs' profit according to the other GENCOs' bidding behaviors and power system operating conditions. Because of uncertainty of sources in a power system such as strategic behavior of opponent GENCOs, demand fluctuations and forced outage of network components, calculation of equilibrium point is not enough in proper strategic bidding, so the problem utilized so that risk factor is taken into account. Because of differences between DC and AC auxiliary systems, DC system protection designers should be take into account that important fact in calculation and dimensioning of DC auxiliary system. There are several mathematical models that are usually used for calculation of short-circuit currents in DC auxiliary system. In this paper, the authors performed short-circuit currents calculation for one real DC auxiliary system of power plant using three different, well-known, mathematical models. The results of calculations were compared with results given by testing of selectivity of DC auxiliary system on the site. The secure and reliable operation of the power system implies the need for scheduling in advance the energy sources that will produce, so that the power system is balanced. Therefore, the use and importance of the wind power is strictly dependent on the ability to predict the wind in advance. In this paper, ARMA models are used to forecast the wind speed in terms of a medium-term prediction. Furthermore, an investigation on the benefits of pre-filtering the wind speed time series using wavelets is carried out. Based on a simulation model in ADVISOR, one can evaluate the performances, the emissions and then the Ecoscore and the User Satisfaction for different driving scenarios. To establish a rationale methodology for assessing the eco-efficiency character, we adopt a multidisciplinary optimization approach while minimizing / maximizing both Eco-score and User satisfaction objective functions. The proposed approach is then used to establish a comparison between HEV (hybrid electric vehicle) and HHV (hybrid hydraulic vehicle) configuration by highlighting the effect of different energy storage systems (batteries, ultra capacitors, hydraulic system), mechanical and electric components sizes upon the optimized HEV design. The selected application is the comparison of different mild parallel hybrid buses. The problem is solved by using the theory of the optimal control. An algorithm, based on the new technique, proposed by the authors, to overcome the difficulties of specifying the weighting matrices Q and R, is presented. The algorithm here proposed considers the multi-area electric energy system. The paper presents illustrative numerical simulation results for this model. In the paper, the main focus moves towards the high power applications, reviewing the different alternatives and topologies. The multilevel approach is studied in more depth, showing that is a good solution to the challenges that medium voltage-high power applications pose. Several industry examples are introduced and the most suitable modulation techniques for multilevel high power converters are explained. Among them, the recent selective harmonic mitigation method appears as a good solution to achieve a high performance.
