This paper aims to efficiently manage flows in a multi-domain SDN-based (MDS) network, where each domain (i.e., subnetwork) is governed by a controller and there exist links between domains. To improve MDS performance, a cooperative flow management (CFM) framework is proposed in the paper. Each controller finds paths for the flows in its domain such that the loads of links can be balanced. When some links are still congested but there is no substitute path, the controller seeks help from neighboring domains. In this case, cross-domain paths will be constructed to replace congested paths. Since each controller finds paths based on only the local view of its own domain, CFM builds cross-domain paths in a cooperative, distributed manner. Through simulations, we verify that CFM can efficiently resolve congestion and significantly improve throughput.","PeriodicalId":245321,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 17th International Conference on Smart Communities: Improving Quality of Life Using ICT, IoT and AI (HONET)","volume":"761 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116778176","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Hilbert-Huang transform (HHT), as the core of the identification systems, extracts the characteristic features to construct an accurate model of the system. In comparison with Fourier transform or wavelet transform, the HHT method can overcome their limitations while it can be implemented over cloud space. This paper uses empirical mode decomposition (EMD) and HHT by cloud computation to characterize a mechanical system. On the cloud space, the EMD method results in intrinsic mode functions (IMFs) of the structural acceleration responses, and the HHT calculations on the combination of these IMFs drives the value of natural frequency and system attenuation ratio. The acceleration responses of an eight-story structure are used to illustrate the performance of the proposed method. In the hardware implementation section, an ARM-based communication/hub board is used to transform and receive data from the cloud environment. The effect of the measurement noises, connection quality, and the different loading on the system identification process has been investigated. The implementation results show that the HHT calculates the system characteristics very accurately, and the effect of measurement noise, data communication link and loading type will have little effect on the system determination process.","PeriodicalId":245321,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 17th International Conference on Smart Communities: Improving Quality of Life Using ICT, IoT and AI (HONET)","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125414088","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This movement is achievable, mostly, via semi or fully autonomous navigation method that has a pre-built map. However, we argue that an autonomous robot navigation should not only provide route path to go to their target location, it should also has a feature to return to their starting position or reference location. In this work, an autonomous robot navigation has been built using combination of Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) and signal of a device as reference point to find the original position. We make use of Turtlebot2 robot with Kinect sensor to create map, and Infrared beam to create the home signal guidance. In achieving target location, robot uses SLAM that has Odometry to track the distance, where at the same time sensing the presence of homing signal. Then, it returns to its home location by tracking the navigation map and home signal to find the best route path. Our result shows that the combination of SLAM and signal reference point has simplified the autonomous robot navigation management.","PeriodicalId":245321,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 17th International Conference on Smart Communities: Improving Quality of Life Using ICT, IoT and AI (HONET)","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126652217","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The episode of AFib can be paroxysmal which increases challenges for its clinical manual diagnosis and affects the quality of life. Real-time cardiac monitoring with wearable health trackers can improve the chances of detecting this unpredictable event. In this paper, various Artificial Intelligence (AI) algorithms have been developed to classify beat-to-beat variation of AFib episodes in real-time using Instantaneous Heart Rates (IHR). Publicly-available clinical datasets from Physionet.org have been used for training and testing the AI algorithms. The accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, precision, F1 score, recall, and area under the receiver operating characteristic curve of these algorithms are evaluated and compared. It was found that, in comparison to other AI algorithms, the deep Recurrent Neural Network (RNN) with Bi-directional Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) demonstrates better performance for classifying the AFib episodes. The models developed can be integrated into wireless health tracker-based mHealth applications to detect AFib using IHR in real-time.","PeriodicalId":245321,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 17th International Conference on Smart Communities: Improving Quality of Life Using ICT, IoT and AI (HONET)","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121412280","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) such as wearing masks and maintaining social distancing are enforced by the Government and healthcare authorities. These SOP's mitigate the spread of COVID-19, but it has been observed with concern that people do not generally follow them. This survey work explores classical techniques that can be used to detect SOP violations. These are primarily computer vision based methods used in object detection and distance estimation. We will also explore deep learning based techniques used for object detection to detect SOP violations.","PeriodicalId":245321,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 17th International Conference on Smart Communities: Improving Quality of Life Using ICT, IoT and AI (HONET)","volume":"118 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116365890","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The unique firing profiles of RTPs solve different tasks during contact co-firing, especially the ramp up and ramp down rates are very critical in achieving the precise contacts independent of the source of metallic pastes. The ramp up/down rates are controlled by the belt speed of the furnace which also determines the dwell time of the contact at elevated temperatures, which ranges from 750–800 °C. Although high belt speeds and hence high ramp up/downs, for contact co-firing are beneficial, due to the difficulties involved in reaching the peak firing temperature at high belt speeds, the commercial infrared (IR) belt furnaces are operated at belt speeds of between 180–200 inches per minute (ipm). Therefore, this paper reports on the development of high belt speeds for screen printed passivated emitter rear contacts (PERC) Si solar cell with no additional equipment. By achieving desired peak temperatures at high belt speeds (up to 375 ipm), the open circuit voltage (Voc) can be increased by ~5 mV along with 1–2 % increase in fill factor (FF) without adding any cost to production line.","PeriodicalId":245321,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 17th International Conference on Smart Communities: Improving Quality of Life Using ICT, IoT and AI (HONET)","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128382943","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Manufacturers and intelligent transportation systems are using thousands of IoT devices and machine-to-machine communication to drive industrial automation. Existing access control schemes for IoT authentication fail to support user anonymity. They rely on the surrendering of the device/user authentication parameters to the trusted server, which hence can be utilized by the IoT infrastructure to track users' behavioral patterns. Furthermore, existing access control mechanisms lack the support of run-time integrity assessment capabilities that are used to verify the authenticity of an authentication process during execution. This paper presents a parametrized crypto-based privacy-preserving authentication protocol that support anonymity, it is based on Zero Knowledge Proof (ZKP). Without the loss of anonymity, a methodological framework for bootstrapping a parametrized authentication process's integrity is introduced herein. We show that run-time integrity assessment of an authentication process running on an IoT device can be achieved through the utilization of the IoT device's physical characteristics, specifically energy consumption and computation time. Behavioral patterns based on the device's power/energy consumption for the ZKP-based protocol were captured and recorded during this effort. In addition, fine-grained behavioral patterns that capture the authentication protocol's processing time were collected and analyzed. To validate the proposed scheme, it was fully implemented and deployed on an IoT testbed. We have tested the performance of the proposed scheme in terms of power consumption and computation time.","PeriodicalId":245321,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 17th International Conference on Smart Communities: Improving Quality of Life Using ICT, IoT and AI (HONET)","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125649267","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Indeed, the rising of renewables and DERs penetration in the power system recently called for the enlargement of the pool of actors that can actively participate in the grid balancing. The UVAM project represents the first opening of the Italian Ancillary Service Market to distributed resources and, for the first time, a capacity remuneration is also added to remunerate the provision of ancillary services. The results for the period November 2018 - March 2020 are analyzed both from technical and economic perspective, highlighting the main difficulties faced in the experimentation, while trying to interpret the behavior adopted by Aggregators in this first phase of the project.","PeriodicalId":245321,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 17th International Conference on Smart Communities: Improving Quality of Life Using ICT, IoT and AI (HONET)","volume":"310 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122779128","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
