In modern science it is closely correlated with watery Diarrhoea which is defined as having loose or watery stools at least three times per day or more frequently than normal for an individual. Diarrhoea caused by bacterial pathogens is a global health problem, especially in developing countries and enteric bacterial pathogens are the main cause of infectious Diarrhoea. Ayurvedic literature have lot of unexplored or least tested medicine, Shadanga Ghrita is one of those Ayurvedic formulation used in the management of Tridoshaja Atisaar. But it has some disadvantages such as bitterness in taste, unpalatability, feasibility and inconvenience in transportation. Considering these, here an attempt was made to transform it into a new dosage form i.e., Ghana Vati. Aim & Objectives: Aim & objectives of present study was to evaluate the anti-bacterial activity of Shadanga Ghrita and its new dosage form on Diarrhoea causing enteropathogens. Material and Methods: Samples of Shadanga Ghrita & its Ghana Vati were prepared as per Sharangdhar Samhita Madhyama Khanda. All the samples of finished products were analyzed on organoleptic and physico-chemical parameters. Anti-bacterial study was done by using Well Diffusion Method and Muller Hinton Agar Media was used to evaluate anti-bacterial activity against S. aureus, E. coli, S. enterica, S. boydii, Y. enterolitica, A. species, and C. perfringens. Result: Both samples showed significant anti-bacterial activity against Diarrhoea causing enteropathogens. Conclusion: Shadanga Ghrita is more effective Antibacterial agent, as it was formulated by Sneha Paka Kalpana method; Gou- Ghrita has potentiated the anti- bacterial effect of it.","PeriodicalId":244854,"journal":{"name":"Scholars International Journal of Traditional and Complementary Medicine","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116866600","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The evaluation focused on the effect of the extract on the oestrous cycle, the evolution of the fresh weight of the uterus and ovaries, the total cholesterol level, and the total protein and oestradiol levels. The doses of extract administered to the female rats were 100, 200 and 400 mg/kg for 28 days. Administration of C. gabunensis extract at 400 mg/kg induced an increase in total protein levels. The administration of the extract at doses of 100 and 200 mg/kg gives the same results as the negative control which is distilled water. No significant variation of the C. gabunensis extract on the other parameters studied was observed compared to the negative control. This study shows that C. gabunensis would have anti-estrogenic effects, additional work should be carried out in order to validate the use of this extract in the treatment of female infertility.","PeriodicalId":244854,"journal":{"name":"Scholars International Journal of Traditional and Complementary Medicine","volume":"62 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116591358","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Various perceptions and practices have been associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. In this study, we assessed the knowledge, attitude and practices regarding COVID-19 among rural population in Jawan in Aligarh. A descriptive cross-sectional study design was used. Data was collected using an interviewer-administered questionnaire. Data collection took place from August - October,2021.We conducted a door to door survey and interviewed 300 persons, aged ≥18 years, who gave consent for the study .The questionnaire was developed using the risk communication and community engagement tool, which was modified according to local settings. Majority of the study population thought Covid 19 to be a disease while few thought it to be a biological weapon used by China or to be due to radiation caused by 5 G network testing. Majority of the study population washed their hands with soap and water and avoided crowded places. Majority of the respondents perceived fever, cough and sore throat as the main symptom, followed by breathlessness and running nose .Very less respondent’s perceived loss of taste and loss of smell. Majority of the population adopted some homemade remedies as a precautionary measure in the form of tea or Kaadha. Most of them had knowledge about mode of spread through cough and sneeze but no one know about the spread of disease through asymptomatic patient. Health care workers also need to use strategies for identifying and communicating with at-risk populations (specifically the elderly) through field visits. They also need to prioritize research in areas of elderly COVID-19 perceptions, particularly around barriers and facilitators to adherence to preventive measures.","PeriodicalId":244854,"journal":{"name":"Scholars International Journal of Traditional and Complementary Medicine","volume":"51 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131913346","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Acute toxicity was evaluated in rats by sequential administration of a single dose of 2000 mg/kg and 5000 mg/kg of body weight of extract according to the method described by protocol 425 of the Organization for Cooperation and economic development. Subacute toxicity was assessed by daily administration of the extract at 100, 200 and 400 mg/kg for 28 days. The weight evolution and the signs of toxicity were observed, the biochemical and haematological parameters of the blood of the animals were collected and analysed. The administration of the extract at 2000 and 5000 mg/kg caused no death and no toxic signs. The weight evolution, the biochemical and haematological parameters of the surviving rats were analysed and compared with those of the controls. Acute oral toxicity data determined that the LD50 of the extract is greater than 5000 mg/kg. Repeated dose administration did not cause any deaths or significant changes in haematological parameters. Some signs of intoxication were however noted and certain biochemical parameters analysed in the rats showed statistically significant differences compared to the controls. A decrease in creatinine was observed on the renal level, an increase in transaminases and a decrease in alkaline phosphatase on the hepatic level. An increase in total proteins at 100 and 200 mg/kg and triglycerides at 100 mg/kg were observed and also a significant drop in LDL-cholesterol at 100, 200 and 400 mg/kg. This study shows that the stem barks of C. gabunensis would be moderately toxic in repeated oral administration, additional studies should be carried out to determine the effect of the extract on the tissues of the different organs.","PeriodicalId":244854,"journal":{"name":"Scholars International Journal of Traditional and Complementary Medicine","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123344379","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
