It is becoming more and more important to investigate the complex aspects that affect academic staff members' job performance as the academic environment has been altered by the ubiquitous influence of digitalization and social networking pressures. This study explores the intricate relationship between techno-complexity, techno-uncertainty as a SNS stressors, and job performance as experienced by academic personnel through a comprehensive approach that makes use of the Social Strain Outcome Theory. Based on a large dataset of 391 participants, rigid structural equation modeling, or Smart Partial Least Squares (PLS) is employed to investigate the intricate relationships between these factors. The study's findings provide vital information regarding the challenges experienced by Malaysian academic employees, especially in light of the country's rapidly changing digital landscape. It reveals the various manners in which job performance is influenced by techno-complexity and techno-uncertainty, which are fueled by social networking pressures. This information forms the basis for well-informed measures, and the creation of policies to improve the productivity of academic staff members in a digital environment. All things considered, this study provides a sophisticated investigation of the changing dynamics in higher education, illuminating the flexible approaches required to traverse the always-changing landscape of academic duties.","PeriodicalId":244811,"journal":{"name":"Business Management and Strategy","volume":"2012 34","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139160253","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, there is a dearth of empirical research on how multifactor models are associated with mutual fund returns in underdeveloped economies. The inconsistent literature regarding the efficiency of the literature posed a question of whether the fund managers can generate extra returns for the investors. To address this research gap, this study aims to analyze mutual fund returns using multifactor models, specifically the Capital Asset Pricing Model (CAPM), Fama-French three-factor model, Carhart four-factor model, Treynor-Mazuy and Fama Net-Selectivity. The first three models analyze the funds with four factors: market factor, growth factor, value factor and momentum factor. The results of the study indicate that the risk premium factor plays a crucial role in understanding mutual fund returns, as it exhibits significant value across all three models. However, the value and size factors were found to be insignificant in both the Fama-French and Carhart models. Additionally, the momentum factor was not significant in the Carhart model. Notably, the significant alpha observed in all multifactor models suggests the skill of mutual fund managers, which was further confirmed using the Treynor-Mazuy and Fama Net-Selectivity models to assess their timing and selectivity abilities in actively managed funds. Furthermore, the finding of the study suggests the inefficiency of the market. The investors could earn extra return from their investments. However, the managers play important role in generating the abnormal returns as suggested by Treynor-Mazuy and Fama Net-selectivity model significance. In addition to that, investors should consider the market risk premium in their investment returns.","PeriodicalId":244811,"journal":{"name":"Business Management and Strategy","volume":"383 2‐3","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139160883","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study employed both the conceptual and theoretical framework as the direction of this whole research, where the independent variables are SDG 5 - Gender Equality, SDG 13 - Climate Action and SDG 7 - Affordable and Clean Energy. The dependent variable is related to firm financial performance which are proxied by the Return on Asset (ROA), Return on Equity (ROE) and Tobin’s Q. The control variables are represented by Firm Leverage (LEV), Firm Age (AGE) and Firm Size (SIZE). All the variables are supported by the stakeholder theory. Purposive sampling was employed within this descriptive and quantitative study. Secondary data employed was analyzed using the quantitative content analysis and panel data regression analysis as per the STATA v.14 software. The findings reflect significance across all models of Pooled Ordinary Least Square (OLS), Fixed Effect Model (FE), and Random Effect Model (RE) where the p-value of gender equality, climate action and affordable clean energy are all 0.0000. The novelty of this research in terms of methodological significance is that the data were collected using quantitative content analysis from the integrated and annual reports of the Malaysian PLCs using three scoring indices designed for the oil and gas industry. Novelty in terms of practical significance is that the findings from this research can be applied to the oil and gas PLCs in other countries other than Malaysia.","PeriodicalId":244811,"journal":{"name":"Business Management and Strategy","volume":"126 16","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"138599329","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The design consists of a 2 x 2 factorial experiment, with four treatments, with the type and level of accounting information as experimental factors. The research was applied to a sample of 68 managers, 86 accountants, and 118 people with different activities (control group). The results showed that the majority of participants present the Overconfidence bias, in the first test, without differentiation of information. They also presented significant evidence that overconfidence can be influenced by the type of information, but not by its level. Moreover, the analysis suggested that the profile of the participants influences the confidence in the projections conducted. The research has shown that the type of financial information influences the overconfidence of entrepreneurs and accountants.","PeriodicalId":244811,"journal":{"name":"Business Management and Strategy","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133951501","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The penultimate purpose of this study is also to ascribe the legal and policy frameworks that support Internal and/or External CSR. These all are the major foci of the contribution of this research article. Design/methodology/approach: National and international legal and policy documents related to CSR were reviewed. The study adopts a qualitative approach through a systematic review and meta-analysis was used to meet its research objectives.Findings: The findings depict that various legal and policy documents can contribute as a foundation for the laws, policies, and guidelines of CSR that will be established in Ethiopia, thus it helps to ensure the effective implementation of CSR. However, most of the legal and policy resources are emphasised on ICSR than ECSR. Moreover, the finding supports the existence of a significant gap in CSR orientations between developed and developing nations.Practical Implications: This study provides insight into the legal and policymakers that endeavor to bridge the gaps through establishing comprehensive law and policy frameworks. This wills results in corporate businesses to consider CSR compulsory and that promotes societal well-being.Originality: The study has unique features compared to prior research. The researchers were focused on the CSR operational activities in certain industries. Therefore, this study focuses on exploring the legal and policy infrastructure that can be profound in establishing independent, institutionalised, and consistent CSR in Ethiopia.","PeriodicalId":244811,"journal":{"name":"Business Management and Strategy","volume":"70 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128650845","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The first half of 2022 will not be easily forgotten by the crypto faithful as it shifted investor sentiment after a monster cryptocurrency rally in 2021 that saw bitcoin (BTC) and altcoins scale multiple record peaks. Just as users were getting comfortable with their passive DeFi incomes, Terra and its non-collaterised stablecoin collapsed in a sensational turn of events. Three Arrows Capital (3AC), a crypto hedge fund that managed assets worth about $10bn at its peak, went bankrupt as falling crypto prices forced liquidations of collateralized loans and leveraged trading positions across the industry, aggravating the sell-off. Investor sentiment plummeted as crypto lending platforms like Celsius and Babel suspended withdrawals for clients. Investor sentiment plummeted as crypto lending platforms like Celsius and Babel suspended withdrawals for clients. The future of cryptocurrency still remains unclear. Given all these mess, we would like to know what factors could actually influence consumer adoption of cryptocurrency from here on out.The purpose of this research is to study factors influencing consumer to adopt cryptocurrency. These factors include seven independent variables: Convenience (CV), Popularity (PL), Usefulness (UF), Credibility (CD), Recommendations (RC), Price Stability (PS) and Risk (RK) and one dependent variable: Crypto Behavior (BH). 400 sample were collected using electronic questionnaire through social media. We used Structural Equation Models (SEM) for data analysis. The result shows that Since the RMSEA, which is an absolute fit index that assesses how far our hypothesized model is from a perfect model, for this model is .047 (<.05) which strongly indicates a “close fit” and the Goodness of Fit Index (GFI) value is .934 (>.90), the model seems to fit well according to the descriptive measures of fit. More importantly Popularity (PL), Usefulness (UF), Credibility (CD), Recommendations (RC) and Risk (RK) seem to have significant effects on influencing consumer to adopt cryptocurrency due to their p-values are both less than .05. That means as long as cryptocurrency is becoming more popular, useful, credible and highly recommended by key stakeholders (friends & family, professionals and influencers) with better risk management, consumer will be more welcome to adopt cryptocurrency as both day-to-day currency and investment alternative. One interesting finding is that Price Stability (PS) of cryptocurrency that we’ve seen over and over again especially post-covid doesn’t seem to significantly impact much of consumer adoption.","PeriodicalId":244811,"journal":{"name":"Business Management and Strategy","volume":"14 1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116821640","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Various studies from academics, consultants, and analysts indicate that the rate of digital transformations failing to meet their original objectives ranges from 70% to 95%, with an average at 87.5%. Yet, digital transformation has been at the top of corporate agendas for at least a decade and shows no sign of slowing down. On the contrary, many commentators have highlighted the accelerating impact of the Covid-19 period on digital transformation. Digital transformation is something no management team should attempt alone. It takes deep into reality and a sense of ownership among people across the enterprise to make transformation a reality.The purpose of this research is to study factors influencing digital transformation process in Bangkok, Thailand. These factors include seven first-order independent variables: Leadership (LD), Employee (EP), Culture (CT), Work Environment (WE), Mindset (MS), Organizational Friction (OF), Management of Transformation (MT), and Talent Acquisition (TA); three second-order variables: Leadership & Motivation (LDM), People (PPL), and Workplace Culture (WPC) and one dependent variable: Digital Transformation (DT). 400 sample were collected using electronic questionnaire through social media. We used Structural Equation Models (SEM) for data analysis. The result shows that since the RMSEA, which is an absolute fit index that assesses how far our hypothesized model is from a perfect model, for this model is .04 (<.05) which strongly indicates a “close fit” and the Goodness of Fit Index (GFI) value is .902 (>.90), the model seems to fit well according to the descriptive measures of fit. Moreover, CFI, which is incremental fit indices that compare the fit of our hypothesized model with that of a baseline model (i.e., a model with the worst fit), its value equals .903 indicating an acceptable fit.More importantly, Talent Acquisition (TA), Leadership & Motivation (LDM), and Workplace Culture (WPC) seem to have significant effects on Digital Transformation (DT) process due to their p-values are all less than .05. That means if corporates focus more on acquiring new talent and at the same time improve corporate leadership and motivation and workplace culture, they will be more likely to be successful in digital transformation which is necessary condition for all organizations to be competitively sustainable going forward.","PeriodicalId":244811,"journal":{"name":"Business Management and Strategy","volume":"76 3","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114009728","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
