The influence of shell's reflection to the spatial spectrum estimation is analyzed. The performance of this algorithm is examined in two simulation examples. It can suppress effectively one or several coherent noise sources from aft part of the ship. It gives high bearing resolution and results in left-right unambiguous DOA estimation in all directions. Furthermore, it won't cause grating lobes if space under-sampling took place and, hence, is very useful in practical engineering.","PeriodicalId":244652,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Wireless Communications & Signal Processing","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125286281","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Implementation of wireless Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) systems is problematic due to the large sized operational wavelengths over the small dimensionality of the mobile devices. An Adaptive Virtual Relaying MIMO (AV-RMIMO) technique shown in this paper that increases the channel capacity between two single-antenna equipped communication nodes. A Decode-and-Forward (DF) relaying scheme is used. AV-RMIMO-DF, benefits from the increased diversity of the Relaying MIMO channels and is applicable to mobile environments with no fundamental changes to the network topology. MMSE estimation via Adaptive MUD is used for node selection and recruitment to transform multiple single-antenna nodes into a single multi-antenna node. It is shown that AV-RMIMO-DF is capable of a theoretical spectral efficiency up to 16.7bits/s/Hz at an SNR of 30dB and BER up to 10-5 at an SNR of about 11.5dB.","PeriodicalId":244652,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Wireless Communications & Signal Processing","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125404587","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The frequency divider employs a divide-by-32/33 dual-modulus prescaler, a five bits swallow counter, an 11 bits programmable counter, and a control circuit necessary for the time sequence and operation of the division. In the pulse swallow frequency divider, the divide-by-32/33 dual-modulus prescaler consists of a divider-by-4/5 and an asynchronous divider-by-8 frequency divider, the swallow counter and the programmable counter consist of static-logic fall edge-triggered DFFs. The structure is designed to reduce the power consumption. Post-simulated results show that the programmable divider's operation frequency is from 0.5 GHz to 3.5 GHz with a maximum power consumption of 3.01 mW at 1.8V power supply. The dimension of pulse swallow frequency divider is 270 μm×110 μm.","PeriodicalId":244652,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Wireless Communications & Signal Processing","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114273338","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Clipping and filtering is the simplest and most effective method to reduce PAR for OFDM. But clipping and filtering gives rise to serious distortion which seriously degrades the bit error rate (BER) performance. Mitigating the disadvantages while inheriting the advantages of clipping and filtering, a new scheme called clipping and clipped power re-allocation with filtering is proposed for PAR reduction in this paper. The proposed scheme re-allocates the clipped power to other low-power time-domain symbols in the same OFDM block to reduce the distortion. Simulation results show that the BER performance of the proposed scheme is much better than conventional clipping and filtering technique and the PAR performance is slightly better than clipping and filtering. Besides, the proposed scheme is compatible with existing OFDM standards since no changes are required in the receiver structure.","PeriodicalId":244652,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Wireless Communications & Signal Processing","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128235386","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Generally in BPSK modulation, every bit within the block has the same power. In this paper, we investigate unequal power allocation (UPA) using BPSK modulation for irregular binary LDPC codes. We show that constant power modulation need not lead to the best performance. With UPA we see gains of up to 0.25dB, with larger gains possible if the receiver knows the details of the UPA scheme. Optimal power allocation is shown to depend strongly on the codes in use. Our work demonstrates the promise of the UPA scheme for some irregular LDPC codes.","PeriodicalId":244652,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Wireless Communications & Signal Processing","volume":"233 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128620788","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In a multiple input single output (MISO) system, transmit beamforming relies on the current channel knowledge, one solution is the use of feedback channel. In conventional scheme because of signal processing, propagation and channel-access protocols, channel knowledge often outdated for the the current use, so feedback delay is a major factor for the performance degradation in the time-varying channel. In this paper we utilize a Kalman-filter-based prediction method to overcome the feedback delay effect. Simulation results verify the effectiveness of the channel prediction scheme.","PeriodicalId":244652,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Wireless Communications & Signal Processing","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129044619","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main characteristic of TFU-OFDM is the joint time-frequency utilization of the pseudo-noise (PN) sequences as guard intervals in time domain and the inserted pilots in frequency domain. Simulation results and analysis show that compared with the cyclic prefixing orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (CP-OFDM) system, TFU-OFDM achieves faster and more reliable synchronization, and provides similar performance of channel estimation and equalization. On the other hand, compared with the time domain synchronous orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (TDS-OFDM) system, TFU-OFDM provides the same synchronization performance, but the computational complexity of channel estimation and equalization is greatly reduced.","PeriodicalId":244652,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Wireless Communications & Signal Processing","volume":"84 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126935632","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We have analyzed the effect of the number of diversity branches and the amplitude of the line-of-sight (LOS) components in the diversity branches on the statistics of the channel capacity. Specifically, we have derived analytical expressions for the probability density function (PDF), cumulative distribution function (CDF), level-crossing rate (LCR), and average duration of fades (ADF) of the capacity of Rice channels when using MRC and EGC. It is observed that if the number of diversity branches or the amplitude of the LOS components increases, then the mean channel capacity increases, while the spread and the ADF of the channel capacity decreases. The presented results are very helpful for wireless communication system designers to optimize the receiver design for the case when spatial diversity combining is employed.","PeriodicalId":244652,"journal":{"name":"2009 International Conference on Wireless Communications & Signal Processing","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123645470","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To improve the cognitive users' performance, this paper presents a new pricing function based on double-interference punishment (DIP) for non-cooperative power control game in a CDMA cognitive radio network. The model reduces the minimum Signal to Interference plus Noise Ratio (SINR) satisfied the requirement of system. The minimum SINR reduced can make the lower SINR user communicate with each other in the system. The existence, uniqueness of Nash Equilibrium (NE) for the proposed new utility function model is proved. Simulation results show that the game with the proposed pricing function can improve the performance of the cognitive user in the condition of maximum interference temperature constraint. Compared to the congener algorithms, in MCRA, neither the acquisition of target location nor the route discovery requires any extra measurement equipment or coordinate system based on location message exchange.
