The research approach and design uses a quantitative approach with cross sectional design. The research subject were 67 college students of state University of Malang in Mathematics Department semester 2, 4, and 6. Data collection techniques using questionnaires and tests. The results showed that: (1) the college students ability of extroverted personality type to produce diverse solutions (fluency) and generate diverse ideas (flexibility) increased in semester 2, 4, and 6. Meanwhile, all college students in semester 2, 4, and 6 not produce new solutions or ideas (novelty). (2) the college students ability of introverted personality type to produce diverse solutions (fluency) decreases in semester 6. The college students ability to generate diverse ideas (flexibility) increases in semester 2, 4, and 6. The research method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The research was conducted in the eighth grade of MTs Satu Atap Al-Hidayah on Jl. Pattimura Gg. VI No. 300 Gelonggong Temas, Batu City. Students are identified their learning styles through questionnaires and then given questions related to solving problems that are open-ended. Of the 15 students studied, there were three students with a visual learning style, three students with an auditory learning style and five students with a kinesthetic learning style. The results of the analysis show that the best metacognition process occurs in students with visual learning styles which are indicated by the achievement of the most indicators and followed by students with kinesthetic learning styles and then students with auditory learning styles. The problems are from Researcher Repertoire, test item of Teacher Profession Education of National Indonesia, and Flanders Mathematics Olympiad. We analyze the students’ empirical verification thinking of their solutions, i.e. the trend of the thinking, model of representation, and completeness of the logical steps. The results are: the pattern of thinking tends to linear model or of meta-pattern, the description tends to be non-linear or varies of the solution, and the logical steps tend to be a non-recognizable form of thinking. The results showed that aspect of fluency could be achieved by students with high, medium, and low mathematical understanding abilities. The aspect of flexibility could be achieved by students who have high and medium mathematical understanding abilities. This study aims to describe the students' metacognitive activity in solving the problem of building a flat side with a qualitative approach. The research subjects were three students of MTSN Malang 1 with good communication skills in the categories of high, medium, and low mathematical abilities. Data collection was done by giving the problem of flat side space and interviews. In the problem understanding phase, students perform metacognitive awareness when they rethink a given problem marked by rereading the problem by considering and monitoring things that are important to solve the problem. In the planning phase, students perform metacognitive regulation when they rethink the ways that have been linked to previous learning experiences marked by considering clues to problems that have been connected to the learning experience. In the phase of implementing the plan, students carry out metacognitive evaluations when they think back about the solution that is being worked on by changing and correcting the image that is being made and determining another more appropriate way. In this century there are many challenges and new demands that call for new breakthroughs. The ability to think critically is an ability needed to face this century. In addition, student learning independence is also needed to be developed. One of the online media that is often used by students and teachers in online learning is google classroom and whatsApp. Based on the results of research conducted on students' critical thinking skills, it was found that 6.67 percent had very high abilities, 40 percent had high abilities, 26.67 percent had moderate abilities, 0 percent had very low abilities and 7 percent of students were very independent, 73 percent independent, 20 percent quite independent, and 0 percent less independent and very less independent in learning. Mathematical contextual problems can be used to view and build students' mathematical connections. The purpose of this study was to describe how the mathematical connection abilities of junior high school students when solving contextual problems on set material. The type of research used is qualitative descriptive research. Research data obtained through mathematical connection tests and interviews. Analysis of mathematical connection ability is divided into modeling connections, concepts, representations, and procedures. The results of this study indicate that high mathematical ability students make modeling connections by making mathematical models, conceptual connections by connecting many members of each set, and procedural connections by operating algebraic forms correctly, representation connections are not carried out because students rarely use Venn diagrams. Students who are mathematically capable are not making modeling connections, concept connections, representation connections, and procedural connections. This research is a descriptive qualitative research. The place of research is at MTs Darul Hikmah Kedung Jepara. The research subjects were seventh grade students of MTs Darul Hikmah who were selected through purposive sampling technique. The data was collected by giving a test of mathematical literacy skills and semi-structured interviews. The results showed that students with high learning independence category were able to solve well problems of low and medium level mathematical literacy skills. Students with moderate learning independence category were able to solve low and medium level mathematical literacy skills, but there were still errors. Sulandra","doi":"10.17977/um076v5i22021p54-62","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.17977/um076v5i22021p54-62","url":null,"abstract":"This qualitative descriptive study aims to describe the metacognitive skills of 3 class VIIIA students of SMP Negeri 4 Malang in solving mathematical problems related to the Two Variable Linear Equation System (SPLDV). The three subjects respectively had high, medium and low abilities based on the initial test of SPLDV. Data were collected through written tests, metacognitive skills self-assessment questionnaires, and interviews. The data were analyzed using three components of metacognitive skills, namely planning, monitoring and evaluation skills. The results showed that subjects with high and moderate abilities met the indicators of planning skills A1, A2 and A3, while subjects with low abilities met the indicators of planning skills A3. The monitoring skills of subjects with high and low abilities meet two indicators B1 and B2, while subjects with moderate abilities only meet one indicator, namely B1.
