With data collected from 386 respondents, the article examines the relationship of personality traits using a 3M Model with social conformity and impulsive tendency of shoppers, and also determines the association between normative social influence and instantaneous urge to buy. The findings reveal that personality traits - conscientiousness, materialism and body needs have positive association with social conformity, whereas openness to experience is negatively associated with social conformity. With respect to impulsive buying tendency, neuroticism, materialism and arousal have positive relationships. The results also reflect positive affect of social conformity on impulsive buying tendency. These finding, along with research implications have enhanced the existing literature.","PeriodicalId":242450,"journal":{"name":"Int. J. Strateg. Decis. It aims to determine the relative importance connected to multiple aspects of health drink beverages, such as brand, nutrition content, taste, muscle building, brain boosting, price, ingredients, and country of origin. The paper also aims to identify consumer segments by the relative importance consumers give to various attributes of health drinks. Through examining the literature, the researchers identified various attributes of health drinks, which they analyzed empirically using a choice-based conjoint survey conducted with the help of the internet-based software 1000minds. Cluster analysis was also done to identify different consumer segments. The study identified two consumer segments: brand conscious and value conscious. As the name indicates, the brand-conscious segment gives more importance to a trusted brand, followed by nutrition content and price.","PeriodicalId":242450,"journal":{"name":"Int. J. Strateg. Decis. This article considers a dyadic supply chain composed of one fair-minded manufacturer and one fair-minded retailer and investigate their pricing decisions under two different non-cooperative game-theoretic frameworks: manufacturer-led Stackelberg game and Vertical Nash game and provide a comparative analysis. The results show that the prices of the Stackelberg game model are always higher than that of the corresponding prices of the Vertical Nash game. We also find that the prices gap between the two models decreases with the retailer's fairness concern, and is uncertain with respect to manufacturer's fairness. In addition, the manufacturer's (retailer's) profit in the Stackelberg game is decreasing (increasing) in its own fairness and is uncertain in the Vertical Nash game. Furthermore, findings are illustrated through a numerical example.","PeriodicalId":242450,"journal":{"name":"Int. J. Strateg. Decis. The impact of such order postponement on the equilibrium profits of both manufacturer and retailer with and without a buyback contract is subsequently examined to obtain a range of wholesale prices within which the marginal profits for both manufacturer and retailer which are non-negative. Furthermore, it is observed that the possibility of implementing order postponement is higher when it is done in the presence of a buyback contract as it increases the marginal profits for both manufacturer and the retailer and expands the feasible region of wholesale price, which leads to a provision of higher flexibility for negotiation between the manufacturer and the retailer.","PeriodicalId":242450,"journal":{"name":"Int. This article contributes to the literature of supply chain contracts by highlighting the importance of a cooperative investment in improving quality in presence of uncertainty. When the delivery of a high-quality product is uncertain and costly, the supplier may choose to deliver a less costly standard product, delivery of which is not uncertain, and hence the buyer needs to incentivize the supplier to take the risk. Using a principal-agent set-up, this article shows that incentivizing the supplier to choose the risky action of attempting delivery of the high-quality product is easier for the buyer in presence of shared cooperative investment that reduces epistemic quality uncertainty. However, the supplier passes the entire burden of investment on the buyer. The optimal investment for the buyer depends on parameters that determine effectiveness of the investment in reducing quality uncertainty.","PeriodicalId":242450,"journal":{"name":"Int. J. Strateg. While taking this decision, the decision maker needs to take seasonality of demand into consideration. Also, the interplay between price and demand also play a major role on this decision. In this study, an effort is made to simultaneously identify the optimal capacity and pricing policy of a hotel in the presence of a stochastic demand environment. Differential calculus is used to identify the solution. Both capacity and price are considered as decision variables for the decision maker. To comply with reality, the seasonality in demand is incorporated in the form of bi-level demand. Numerical illustrations are also shown to explain the decision-making process. This study offers a starting point for an entrepreneur to decide both capacity and pricing for their upcoming hotel.","PeriodicalId":242450,"journal":{"name":"Int. J. Strateg. Decis. The authors propose that when organizations are considering this costly and often risky investment, they need a systematic method to evaluate the costs of data collection associated with the implementation of a new data and analytics (D & A) strategy or an expansion of an existing effort. Therefore, in this article, a new dimension of big data is proposed which is incorporated into a theoretically justified and systematic method for quantifying the costs and benefits of the data collection process. By estimating the worth of data, organizations can more efficiently focus on streamlining the collection of the most beneficial data and jettisoning less valuable data collection efforts.","PeriodicalId":242450,"journal":{"name":"Int. Taking the view of the Chinese market, this concept has been important and numerous local enterprises and multi-corporations have made actions and progress in this area for strategy. This article is focused on the case study of the Samsung company, which further investigates how well the firm performs in practicing CSR in the Chinese market and how consumers perceive its CSR activities. Samsung with local Chinese tactics combines the strategies of its firm in order to strengthen the company's competition and reputation in society. Furthermore, managers of Samsung have also been interviewed to ascertain how they deal with social responsibility. In order to identify the impacts of CSR activities, 365 valid questionnaires collected. Finally, the data analysis and recommendations for Samsung have been discussed in detail. The finding shows that first, the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 accidents with fire and explosion have negative influenced people's purchase intentions of its other phone series. Second, Samsung's social responsibility activities are beneficial to the firm's reputation and the company should promote customer rights visible to consumers and the society. It is interesting to point out that Samsung's corporate social responsibility activities have positive influences in customers' willingness-to-pay for its phones have been overturned in this case study. Implementing CSR activities is important to the firm's strategy.","PeriodicalId":242450,"journal":{"name":"Int. J. Strateg. Decis. In response to this, organizations are dedicating increasing resources to information security programs. However, faced with unrelenting breach reports and rising costs, decision makers inevitably wonder which type of security investment is economically viable. In this article, the authors present an empirically tested model describing the underlying key constructs for assessing information security value in an organization. Based on identified latent variables previously put forward in the literature, the authors use a partial least squares structural equation modeling approach to verify the model's soundness. They identify five crucial variables for value-focused information security investment. The relationships among these latent variables are then investigated and contributions of the structural model assessed. The key findings are finally presented to highlight opportunities for security practitioners to apply the proposed model.","PeriodicalId":242450,"journal":{"name":"Int. J. Strateg. Decis.
