On this theme, the current study is an attempt to connect transformational leadership with strategic thinking capability by establishing a diagnostic research tool. The aim behind establishing such a research instrument is to evaluate strong or weak corporate operations and practices, being followed at the three selected work locations of a European multinational company. Following construct theory, this study's mid-range theorizing revealed that, the employees at the three target work locations are not significantly empowered and therefore incapable to take independent work decisions. Such incapability, in return, obstruct the process of effective corporate strategic leadership. In accordance with the study findings, the categories of \"intellectual stimulation\" and \"individualized consideration\" are identified as the weak areas, linked to the work leadership operations. In addition, the aspects, namely, \"work situation\" and \"situational referencing\" are identified as weak processes associated with the strategic thinking construct. Furthermore, \"investigative approach\" and \"situational handling\" appeared as potentially strong strategic elements. The above referred findings are critically significant to support future testing and refinement of the proposed research tool. The current study offers wider implications for specialists, practitioners and researchers through the process of re-evaluation or cross comparative analysis of the study results.","PeriodicalId":242450,"journal":{"name":"Int. Tactical operations into Taliban-held territory were launched even though close air support capable of dealing with \"danger close\" situations could not be assigned in advance. It led to significant ISAF casualties if the Taliban decided to fight back rather than withdraw. Departing from a Clausewitz-style, i.e. second-mover advantage, mixed-strategy equilibrium and taking account of the \"Irregular Warfare\" nature of the pay-offs, the paper looks into the existence of strategic moves. In particular, as playing a mixed strategy if rotary wing air support is unavailable merely incentivises a more aggressive Taliban response to any kind of operation due to the information asymmetry, it is argued that by moving away from the mixed-strategy equilibrium ISAF casualties in properly supported operations could be reduced, thus handing a first-mover advantage to ISAF.","PeriodicalId":242450,"journal":{"name":"Int. This paper presents TETSC: the Topically-Enriched Text Snippet Classification method. TETSC aims to solve the classification problem for text snippets in any domain. TETSC recognizes that there are different types of text snippets and, therefore, allows for stop word removal, named-entity recognition, and topical enrichment for the different types of text snippets. TETSC has been implemented in the production systems of a personal finance organization, which resulted in a classification error reduction of over 21%. Highlights: The authors create the TETSC method for classifying topically-enriched text snippets; the authors differentiate between different types of text snippets; the authors show a successful application of Named-Entity Recognition to text snippets; using multiple enrichment strategies appears to reduce effectivity.","PeriodicalId":242450,"journal":{"name":"Int. In the proposed RDEA method, pessimistic and optimistic efficiencies of decision making units DMUs obtained from the robust counterpart of the envelopment form and the optimistic counterpart of the multiplier form of DEA are introduced. The inputs and outputs data are assumed to be bounded data interval numbers in the proposed models. A case study in the cement industry is presented to demonstrate the applicability of the proposed RDEA approach. The results obtained from the authors' proposed RDEA approach is more robust and their method provides a more complete ranking of the DMUs compared to conventional Likert-based DEA model.","PeriodicalId":242450,"journal":{"name":"Int. Unlike most classification techniques, LAD has the advantage of not relying on any statistical theory which enables it to overcome the conventional problems concerning the statistical properties of datasets. LAD is employed to estimate the equipment's survival and failure probabilities. These probabilities are then used to build a dynamic programming model to minimize the average long-term replacement cost of the equipment. The proposed method is successfully applied on Prognostics and Health Management challenge dataset provided by NASA Ames Prognostics Data Repository. The performance of the model is compared to that of the well-known Proportional Hazards Model.","PeriodicalId":242450,"journal":{"name":"Int. J. Strateg. Decis. Fuzzy set theory elucidates judgment through linguistic variables while analytic network process ANP handles the complexity of the decision-making brought about by subjectivity and relationships among components in the decision problem. A group of experts in manufacturing was tasked to elicit judgment in pairwise comparisons following in the methodology of the ANP. Results also show that structural decisions that support sustainability integrate backward supply chain. This supports existing approaches particularly on sustainable supply chain and green purchasing. The contribution of this work lies in adopting a multi-criteria decision-making MCDM framework that identifies the content of the structural decisions of a sustainable manufacturing strategy.","PeriodicalId":242450,"journal":{"name":"Int. The overall objective of this paper is to investigate how manufacturing companies make use of different manufacturing practices or bundles of manufacturing practices to develop certain sets of capabilities, with the ultimate goal of supporting the market requirements. The authors propose a technique that can effectively take managerial preferences and subjective data into consideration, along with quantitative factors. The tool that is proposed here relies on the use of a more effective version of the Analytical Hierarchy Process AHP called the Analytical Network Process ANP to help integrate managerial evaluations into a more quantitatively based decision tool, data envelopment analysis DEA. In this paper, these two techniques, when used together, can provide subjective and objective evaluations for manufacturing strategy decision makers. An illustrative example provides some insights into the application of this methodology. The research contributes to several insights to the research area of manufacturing strategy and to practitioners in manufacturing operations. A model that investigates process improvement investments, assuming that alternative process improvement initiatives exist, is then presented.","PeriodicalId":242450,"journal":{"name":"Int. J. The objectives of this paper are, firstly, to explain that the adoption of Green IS by managers is directly influenced by their intention, which is assumed to be influenced by their attitude towards Green IS, subjective norms, perceived behavioral control and personal norms. In the framework, attitude towards Green IS is influenced by managers' positive and negative affect in response to Green IS. The findings of this study show that subjective norms are reflected from three sources containing primary, secondary and work referents. Perceived behavioral control includes self-efficacy, monetary cost-benefit assessment and the ethical climate of the organization. Personal norms are influenced by awareness of consequences, ascription of responsibilities and personal values including self-transcendence and self-enhancement. Secondly, the paper aims to assess the importance of the individual factors that influence the organizational decision-makers to adopt Green IS. Accordingly, the Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution TOPSIS is applied to rank the importance of the factors incorporated in the proposed framework. The data for this study is collected by conducting an online survey through a structured questionnaire-based instrument comprising 5-point Likert-type scales. The findings of this study contribute to the Green IS literature by improving the decision-making process in IS adoption for the purpose of environmental sustainability enhancement. It is hoped that the proposed model would help to clarify the relative importance of the psychological and socio-demographic factors influencing the adoption of Green IS by organizational decision-makers.","PeriodicalId":242450,"journal":{"name":"Int.
