His works feature very important, inspiring and prophetic anthropological intuitions. His anthropology is built around the following concepts: imago Dei, body-soul-spirit, biblical heart, person, theandrism, love and freedom. Man as a human person fulfills himself in freedom through the recognized and accepted gift of iconicity. The perfect Image is the incarnate Son. Believers in Jesus Christ participate in a real manner in His sonship and freedom that is realized through love.","PeriodicalId":241712,"journal":{"name":"Poznań Theological Studies","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121189949","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Their presentation is rather biased and one-sided, limited to controversial issues. The Gospels usually fail to show what positive in their lives and in harmony with that of a Christian was. In the passage of Mt 23:25–26, Jesus does not so much criticize the Pharisees for respecting the rules of ritual purity in their daily lives, but shows what sin in human life is, not only in the life of a Pharisee, but everyone. Everyone is called to convert, change its attitude, reject hypocrisy and live according to the Gospel principles. Jesus uses the metaphor of a cup and a dish to easily show his listeners that, as in the case of everyday objects, which first they are washed inside, then outside, exactly the same should happen with a man, he should first purify his soul and then show himself good towards others.","PeriodicalId":241712,"journal":{"name":"Poznań Theological Studies","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115851751","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Wawrzyniec Kuśniak, COr (1788-1866) has become an opportunity to recall and investigate his preaching heritage in the form of 18 preserved sermons for various occasions. In this paper, the sermons were subjected to a homiletical analysis. Most of them were built according to the frame commonly used at that time, the so called proper sermon. Fr. Kuśniak eagerly seeks recourse to biblical and patristic evidence, showing extensive expertise in both the Holy Scriptures and the writings of the Church Fathers. The performed analysis demonstrates clearly that the author is aware of the significance and power of God’s words, and, contrary to many other preachers of his time, does not limit his role in the sermon only to providing illustrations or arguments. He is just as serious about the teaching of the Church. Rev. Kuśniak does not present faith as the sum of a range of dogmas and moral obligations, but tries to show in his sermons God’s economy, oriented towards the authentic transformation and salvation of an individual. The sermons contain many specific references to the lives of his listeners, which renders them practical. This dimension depicts Fr. Kuśniak as committed to his ministry. The message of his sermons seems to still be relevant today, whereas his preaching and pastoral attitude – a role model for the current preachers of God’s words. In the same vein, the preaching of Rev. Kuśniak gives a representative picture of Polish service of the Word in Greater Poland in the first half of the 19th century.","PeriodicalId":241712,"journal":{"name":"Poznań Theological Studies","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128688038","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is worth taking a look, therefore, at a certain analogy from seven centuries ago. The first thousand years of development of faith in Asia led to many outstanding theological syntheses. There were also many saint martyrs and missionaries. Christianity also had its experience of faith in the Islamic State. Despite the difficulties, the missionary spirit until the fourteenth century has been developing. The breakthrough occurred only during Timur’s times due to Mongolian wars. Why did Timur accept Islam, despite the considerable presence of Christians in his surroundings? There was no lack of outstanding Christian scholars. In addition to possible personal reasons, he probably decided realizing that Sufi Islam is already deeply rooted among the masses of a simple population of Central Asia. An important role in this process played the political current of “Order” Naqshbandiyah.","PeriodicalId":241712,"journal":{"name":"Poznań Theological Studies","volume":"61 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124048495","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The mission of the Church must be realized within a specific community of the people of God as well as in its administrative structure and the local hierarchy. The Church’s task is to accomplish its sanctifying, prophetic and teaching mission, which is accomplished through the proclamation of the Gospel, the celebration of sacraments, funeral rites, and teaching of prayer practices. Due to lack of adequate resources, this Church’s prophetic task was omitted. The Church, as archaeological research shows, also contributed to social life and the development of the material culture of the inhabitants of the Middle Nile Valley.","PeriodicalId":241712,"journal":{"name":"Poznań Theological Studies","volume":"98 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131820567","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As an itinerant sage Confucius taught the practical significance of moral values in the social and political life. His disciples collected his teachings in Analects, in which Confucius noticed that at his age of 50 he knew the will of Heaven (A 11:4). He began to teach Humanism with respect to Transcendence (T’ien). According to the great specialists, Prof. Tu Wei-Ming (Harvard University) and Prof. John Berthrong (Boston University), “the social dimension” of the human person in Confucianism is important and the person is conceived as “a center of relationships” and as a self of personal development (selfhood as creative transformation). There are five universal ways in human relations which are governed by five moral principles. The five ways are those governing the relationships between ruler and minister, between father and son, between husband and wife, between elder and younger brothers, and those in the intercourse between friends. The core of the human person is humanity (jen or ren). Just as “compassion” is the greatest Buddhist virtue, and “love” the Christian, jen is the ultimate goal of conduct and self-transformation for the Confucian. According to Confucius, education reforms a personal life as well as a social and political life in order to realize a universal love and a personal development of man (juncy).","PeriodicalId":241712,"journal":{"name":"Poznań Theological Studies","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124236801","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
