Each phase voltage is controlled independently by PI controller and double-loop controller with voltage and current instantaneous feedback, and phase angle by closed-loop control with PLL , which make the output voltage and phase angle track the references sine wave. Pulse width and phase angle of reference sine wave are modulated by voltage-loop and phase-loop, which ensures phase and voltage of the inverter to symmetry. At first, output unsymmetrical mechanism of a traditional inverter is analyzed in this paper; Second, its main circuit topology, construction of voltage current feedback circuits, its control principle and implementation method are discussed; then, its mathematic models are set up and analyzed; At last, simulation and experiment results of 30 kW three-phase inverter is obtained that proves this circuit design to be feasible.","PeriodicalId":240420,"journal":{"name":"2008 Third International Conference on Electric Utility Deregulation and Restructuring and Power Technologies","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-04-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125195062","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Mitigating risk becomes an urgent need for market participants. Benefit balance is a basic principal to carry out option. Each unit of power in the one-way option should produce the same benefit and utility to the market participants. Based on expectation and utility theory, the paper builds the benefit expectation model of the market participants to find an equilibrium option price. With the utility model by combining the benefit and risk observed in the one-way option the effects of different risk attitudes of the market participants on the one-way option are measured. Analysis results shows that the risk attitudes of market participants have an obvious effect on the option under study.","PeriodicalId":240420,"journal":{"name":"2008 Third International Conference on Electric Utility Deregulation and Restructuring and Power Technologies","volume":"70 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-04-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130885448","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Active power factor correction (APFC) resolved these problems, but this kind of hard switching circuit produced much consumption. It proposed a strategy that using soft switching power transformation technology to control switching devices. An improved scheme based on zero voltage transition (ZVT) PWM converter was presented and corresponding circuit was designed. The dynamic operation courses of circuit and switching states of power devices were researched. The strategy realized zero voltage transition by controlling power devices. Main switching device was conducted and turned off when voltage of resonance network was zero. The results have verified validity and feasibility of the strategy. It can decrease power consumption of switching devices, reduce harmonic, improve power factor and further perfect operation performance of universal power quality compensator.","PeriodicalId":240420,"journal":{"name":"2008 Third International Conference on Electric Utility Deregulation and Restructuring and Power Technologies","volume":"261 ","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-04-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133391868","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The trend in recent years is the steady increase of PMU installations worldwide for various applications, such as those targeted for State Estimation enhancement. Several algorithms/methods for optimal PMU placement have been introduced to minimize the system cost while still achieving the full observability of a power system with a minimum number of phasor measurements. These algorithms perform an optimization process by considering all system buses. In real systems, for practical reasons, some buses may be selected for mandatory PMU installations and some others can be selected as not desirable for PMU installations. In other words, a group of buses may be identified for the optimal placement. In this paper, a virtual data elimination preprocessing method and a matrix reduction algorithm are introduced for reducing the scale of a placement study. By identifying those buses with \"known status\", the method could significantly reduce the computation efforts. The methodology has been applied to four IEEE systems and the Brazilian National Interconnected Power System. The sizes of these systems before and after the reduction are tabulated to show the effectiveness of this method in reducing the computational effort. To prove the performance guarantee for the proposed algorithm, Lagrangian Relaxation has been applied to calculate the low bound of the minimum number of PMUs necessary for full observability. The results are shown in the simulation section.","PeriodicalId":240420,"journal":{"name":"2008 Third International Conference on Electric Utility Deregulation and Restructuring and Power Technologies","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-04-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133574354","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the framework of the well-known mechanism design theory, the problem of designing an optimal contract between a utility company and a pumped-storage power plant is investigated for frequency regulation that could act as an effective tool for system frequency control in deregulated power systems. Optimization models with different risk types are developed and simulations based on a sample example are employed for demonstration. Massive harmonics are poured into the power grid, leading to the distortion of the system voltage and current. Meanwhile, the nonliner loads usually own complex characteristics such as power inrushing, three phase imbalance, harmonics, inter-harmonics, and so on, which directly affect the correctness and validity of energy measuring. Therefore, the energy metering instrument which designs based on the sine power theory or the traditional non-sinusoidal power theory can not reflect the real energy that the loads absorb form the system. The correct definition and measurement of power under distortion condition become a matter of common concern both to the power supply system and the customers. In this paper, IEEE Std. 1459-2000 is studied and a novel energy measuring method based on the effective absorbed power is put forward. Beginning with the analysis of energy transmission and the line-loss, the total energy of the system is quantified. The shortcomings of the traditional power theory and the corresponding algorithm in analyzing the energy measurement are studied comprehensively. In view of the background harmonic, the energy measuring methods are studied from the line-loss and effective absorbed power. The analysis results indicate that the method proposed in this paper can correctly reflect the power consumption of the surge loads and the exchange energy.","PeriodicalId":240420,"journal":{"name":"2008 Third International Conference on Electric Utility Deregulation and Restructuring and Power Technologies","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-04-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132165422","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

PSStradeLMP has been integrated with Siemens PTI's world-wide used transmission planning tool, PSStradeE, allowing for full transmission network modeling and providing a fundamental and essential foundation for LMP analysis. PSStradeLMP analyzes the effects of network conditions and determines LMP at each node as well as energy production cost components. The core function of PSStradeLMP is a 24-hour simulation for LMP-based electricity markets or energy price forecasting. Simulation results can be viewed as tables, displayed on a diagram of the network, or presented as a time-series plot. In conjunction with PSStradeE, PSStradeLMP can be used as a complimentary tool for market-based transmission planning.","PeriodicalId":240420,"journal":{"name":"2008 Third International Conference on Electric Utility Deregulation and Restructuring and Power Technologies","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-04-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132259491","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

{"title":"Analyzing the effect of electric power industry reforms in Korea","authors":"Y. Yoon, Sun-kyo Kim, Ho-chul Lee, Jong-keun Park","doi":"10.1109/DRPT.2008.4523401","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/DRPT.2008.4523401","url":null,"abstract":"In this paper we introduce a general framework for evaluating the effect of first stage of electric power industry reforms in Korea by measuring and comparing the performance of electric power industry before and after the initiation of reforms. Understanding the effect of the first stage of reform can provide some valuable guidelines to how to implement the reforms. Keep in mind that the CBP market in Korea created through the implementation of the first stage of reforms is quite different from the usual sense of markets being implemented in US and other restructured regions. The proposed framework is constructed by first breaking the industry into essential functions that need to be carried out through value-chain analysis. Then, focusing on the generation business area, the specific functions and the sub-functions are defined and put into the form suitable for applying so-called performance-benchmarking technique. Once the specific functions are defined, then the efficiency measures are computed per each function using one of many effective methods. After evaluating the performance of industry through efficiency measures using the performance-benchmarking technique within the proposed framework, the externalities are considered such that the factors which affect the performance but have little to do with industry reforms are reasoned out thus forming a logical counterfactual. The comparison of industry performance between the actual outcome and the logical counterfactual leads to the proper evaluation. An illustrative example is presented in that the general framework introduced in this paper is then used to measure the efficiency of generation companies and/or generation units carrying out their respective functions from 1995 to 2006 and calculates the performance of electric power industry in Korea associated with these efficiency measures.","PeriodicalId":240420,"journal":{"name":"2008 Third International Conference on Electric Utility Deregulation and Restructuring and Power Technologies","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-04-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132743155","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Prototype systems relying on an accumulator for short term and a hydrogen path - consisting of electrolyzer, hydrogen tank and hydrogen gas engine based generator (or alternatively a fuel cell) - as long term storage have proven well in various prototype plants. A disadvantage is the electricity based generation of hydrogen for the long term storage path; rather, direct solar hydrogen production using innovative photo-electrochemical (PEC) cells - which are newly available - eases and simplifies both plant design and operation. In the following these photo-electrochemical cells are briefly characterized and their potential exemplary application for the autonomous electricity supply of an industrial plant in several configuration variants is investigated.","PeriodicalId":240420,"journal":{"name":"2008 Third International Conference on Electric Utility Deregulation and Restructuring and Power Technologies","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-04-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115382329","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
