We show that in the presence of the Kerr effect, as the strength of the Kerr effect increases, the absorption curve exhibits an asymmetric-symmetric-asymmetric transition, and the zero absorption point shifts with the increase of the Kerr effect. Furthermore, by changing the strength of the Kerr effect, we can control the width of the transparent window, and the position of the zero-absorption point and meanwhile change the left and right width of the absorption peak. The asymmetry absorption curve can be employed to improve the quality factor of the cavity when the frequency detuning is tuned to be around the right peak. The simple dependence of the zero-absorption point on the strength of Kerr effect suggests that the strength of Kerr effect can be measured by measuring the position of the zero-absorption point in a possible application.","PeriodicalId":23976,"journal":{"name":"Wuhan University Journal of Natural Sciences","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140470023","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Under the assumption that the claim-number process satisfies the large deviations principle, the uniform asymptotics for the finite-time ruin probability of a one-dimensional risk model are obtained for the strongly subexponential claim sizes. Further, as an application of the result of one-dimensional risk model, we derive the uniform asymptotics for a kind of finite-time ruin probability in a two dimensional risk model sharing a common claim-number process which satisfies the large deviations principle.","PeriodicalId":23976,"journal":{"name":"Wuhan University Journal of Natural Sciences","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140467810","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The algorithm employs a kernel function with a linear growth term to derive the search direction, and by introducing new technical results and selecting suitable parameters, we prove that the iteration bound of the algorithm is as good as best-known polynomial complexity of interior-point methods. Furthermore, numerical results illustrate the efficiency of the proposed method.","PeriodicalId":23976,"journal":{"name":"Wuhan University Journal of Natural Sciences","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140469917","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Quantitative RT-PCR was employed in this study to quantify the HMGB1 and miR-146b levels in plasma samples obtained from the patient group and healthy controls. The investigation involved the comparison between the two groups and tracking changes in the patient group over time. The finding revealed that upon admission, the patient group exhibited markedly elevated relative expression levels of HMGB1, which subsequently decreased over time. Conversely, the patient group displayed significantly reduced relative expression levels of miR-146b upon admission, which subsequently increased over time compared to the control group. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves showed good predictive value for HMGB1 and miR-146b. The experimental results suggest that HMGB1 and miR-146b serve as valuable and convenient biomarkers for evaluating the severity of septic shock and predicting mortality. Additionally, it is proposed that serum miR-146b may be inducible and potentially exerts a negative regulatory effect on the expression of HMGB1.","PeriodicalId":23976,"journal":{"name":"Wuhan University Journal of Natural Sciences","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140469276","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Those mappings adhere to specific multiplicative contraction conditions characterized by exponents expressed as fraction multiplicative metric spaces. It is noted that a metric can induce a multiplicative metric, and conversely, a multiplicative metric can give a rise to a metric on a nonempty set. As an application, another proof of the existence and uniqueness of the solution of a multiplicative initial problem is given.","PeriodicalId":23976,"journal":{"name":"Wuhan University Journal of Natural Sciences","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140468139","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Variational data assimilation furnishes precise initial values for numerical forecasting models, constituting an inherently nonlinear optimization challenge. The enormity of the dataset under consideration gives rise to substantial computational burdens, complex modeling, and high hardware requirements. This paper employs the Dual-Population Particle Swarm Optimization (DPSO) algorithm in variational data assimilation to enhance assimilation accuracy. By harnessing parallel computing principles, the paper introduces the Parallel Dual-Population Particle Swarm Optimization (PDPSO) Algorithm to reduce the algorithm processing time. Simulations were carried out using partial differential equations, and comparisons in terms of time and accuracy were made against DPSO, the Dynamic Weight Particle Swarm Algorithm (PSOCIWAC), and the Time-Varying Double Compression Factor Particle Swarm Algorithm (PSOTVCF). Experimental results indicate that the proposed PDPSO outperforms PSOCIWAC and PSOTVCF in convergence accuracy and is comparable to DPSO. Regarding processing time, PDPSO is 40% faster than PSOCIWAC and PSOTVCF and 70% faster than DPSO.","PeriodicalId":23976,"journal":{"name":"Wuhan University Journal of Natural Sciences","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140467976","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Recently, increasing evidence has revealed the relationship between Fox family members and cancer. FOXJ3 is involved in various types of cancer, including lung cancer, tongue squamous carcinoma, and prostate cancer; however, a comprehensive pan-cancer analysis of FOXJ3 remains lacking. Here, we explored the function of FOXJ3 across cancers using online websites and databases including TIMER2.0, SangerBox, UALCAN, GEPIA2.0, cBioPortal, CancerSEA,STRING, BioGRID and Metascape to analyze the role of FOXJ3 in cancers. Abnormal expression of FOXJ3 was found in various tumors. The genetic alteration percentage in tumors was determined, and elevated FOXJ3 expression was found to be associated with worse overall survival in brain lower grade glioma(LGG), liver hepatocellular carcinoma (LIHC), sarcoma (SARC) and thyroid carcinoma. Elevated FOXJ3 expression was related to worse prognosis with disease-free survival in adrenocortical carcinoma, LGG and LIHC. FOXJ3 expression was related to immune infiltration in several cancers. Enrichment analysis showed that histone modification, the TGF-β signaling pathway, and chromatin organization were the top three enriched ontology clusters of the top 100 similar genes of FOXJ3. Our pan-cancer analysis provides comprehensive insights into FOXJ3 from the perspective of bioinformatics in different cancers, where it serves as a potential biomarker for prognosis, especially in LGG and LIHC. FOXJ3 is also correlated with immune infiltrates in certain human tumors.","PeriodicalId":23976,"journal":{"name":"Wuhan University Journal of Natural Sciences","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140463922","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
